    there is a metal lip on the main rod, making it impossible to put the auger bearing on. it blocks it. i would have to grind it off for the bearing to go on.

      im assuming the end of the shaft got mushroomed when taking the pulley off? if thats what you mean then yes it totally fine to grind it smooth again

    Before a carb is changed, make sure the cheap fuel lines aren't cracked slightly, or in half. The cheap clear Fuel lines just don't last like old US made. They crack and cause a lot of issues you are troubleshooting, and it is only the fuel line causing your headache. Also, the 2 gaskets are different. Pay attention to which of the old goes where/compare shape and pattern to new. Mine began to run like crap. It turned out to be a crack in the fuel line sucking air/leaking fuel.

    I'm thinking when mine gets bad I may just replace with a sealed ball bearing instead of that bushing. I never could understand why MTD, Craftsman, Ariens, etc. and others use a ball bearing instead of that bushing that Toro uses?

    Way to fix that old type carb is to drill a vent hole (or two) in the top lid that is held by 4 screws. Carb rebuild kit and it works as good as new.

    • @Coakleyfixedit207
      @Coakleyfixedit207 8 месяцев назад

      Uhhh that would literally do nothing as it has nothing to do with the issue but thanks for watching and the comment

      @vjeko8690 8 месяцев назад

      @@Coakleyfixedit207 Ok, then I was wrong about around 5-6 these types of carbs that I fixed that way... That black plastic part has vents that mess up and if you put vent holes in the lid above diaphragm it literally does something ;) But hey, don't have to believe me, if you get a chance try it once..

    • @Coakleyfixedit207
      @Coakleyfixedit207 8 месяцев назад

      @vjeko8690 it's a check valve inside the carb body that goes bad, the vents in the lif and black spacer are so the diaphragm can move freely, I'd more likely say the carbs you fixed just needed kits. But hey not throwing shade your way maybe I didn't explain the issue these carbs have deep enough

    Very detailed video. I'm working on my dad's 359. Carburetor problems. Never worked on this particular model before and your video was very helpful. I've tuned and tuned the carb and it just won't do right. Can't get it to idle right and at time bogs on the top end no matter how I tune it. And yes, the arrestor screen is good. Anyway, I'm gonna take the carb apart and clean it. If that doesn't work then I'll just replace the carb. I'm sure the carb kit costs more than what I can get a new carb for. Good video though.

    I did mine last night, was easier than I expected it to be thanks to this video. Based on my experience, I recommend replacing the brake pad at the same time as the bearing. There was so much slop in the old bearing that the pulley had chewed up the pad enough that the auger/impeller does not immediately stop now like it should.
