Enjoyed this. Its just realistic, not every day is exciting, a lot of life is the mundane. People can stop being negative, don't understand what they expect.. Thanks Lily. Keep being you
Love that you gave moms with babies nearby the sound warning before turning on the smoothie machine. So thoughtful of you!
No one and nothing can prepare you for the loss of self after having a baby. So many ‘selfish’ needs are put on hold, like socialising and spontaneity, which I think you expect. It’s the unexpected little things that make you ‘you’: only dressing for breastfeeding, wearing darker colours to cover spills and stains, spending time on your appearance, cooking and eating to stop hunger rather than luxuriating in a meal, a whole new body shape. It all just chips away at you while your hormones are haywire. And you don’t even realise it’s happened until 6 months + later when the haze starts to lift and you can’t remember what ‘old you’ would have done.
Motherhood is beautiful, it’s empowering and an incredible gift. It’s also a lot of autonomy to sacrifice!
Wish I could like this comment twice. Feel it to my core and glad to not be alone through this most lonely time
Yes, all true but I found it helpful not to mourn the loss of 'old' me and instead embrace the 'new' me which included now being a mother.
Pregnancy and the early post-partum days can be scary as you negotiate it all but that's partly beacause it is all so new to you (+hormones!). Try to go forwards positively into the 'new' you with all your changed experience. 🙂
There's probably way to much unnecessary 'advice' to new mums these days e.g. the perfume thing. Yes, I wouldn't spray a lot of strong perfume on me if I had a small baby, but remember the baby is close to your skin so will smell the 'real' you.
Also the clothing thing - wear what is comfortable, clothes can be washed.
Your baby won't come to any harm if you put them down in a safe place for 10 minutes while you shower/ do your hair/ put on a little make up.
Way too much obsessing about things - ask your mothers folks, what worked for them will work for you and stop reading crap on the internet!
Hey Lily, I would love to hear more about your postpartum journey! I remember loving to watch your first trimester videos when I was on my first trimester. It brought so much comfort. I am now postpartum and would love to hear more from your experience. ❤ Also I’m so curious about how you started creating content in the first place and how you grow your business. Lots of love! 💕
I LOVE this exploration of colour- especially for the home- bring on the happy!
Agree Lily with your hair decision, I think we sometimes think short hair is less maintenance but not always the case.
Curly haired girl myself and feel like my hair needs to be a bit longer, more calmer when it has a bit of weight to it.
Good to have a change though and you look lovely whichever style you choose.
Thanks for sharing your German trip with us I bet this has been an emotional journey for you and your family xx
Short hair requires way more work than long hair. I prefer your hair longer. It just lays better.
Ah what a sunny, helpful and lovely chatty vlog to enjoy this Sunday morning! Thank you for being our friendly face catch-up from afar 🥰
Thanks for watching!
Love your vlogs Lily! It’s like settling down with a friend for a catch up. So relatable & great to see you so happy 💗
Hi Lily! It was interesting to hear about your trip to Germany and your grandfather :)
Super fun vlog! Loved seeing you demonstrate the smoothie and the wrap! Good inspiration.
Lily! Your videos speak to me!! Jsut love it! It’s always like speaking to a friend!! ❤
So SO right about Perfume. I feel naked without having perfume. Really puts me in a happier mood! Loving your vlogs lately ❤
Look forward to your Sunday vlogs - thank you! 💛
Courgette is the best addition to a smoothie! You can't taste it at all and gives the best creamy texture - good way to get extra veg in.
Hi Lily, I understand the struggle with the hair in terms of them being super thick and difficult to style. So I recently decided for a (very) long bob with a hidden undercut.. it has saved my life! So much weight has been removed, as well as 10+ minutes saved when I dry and style them. I definitely recommend trying, plus it’s hidden, so it’s not that dramatic; you could still keep your favorite haircut but easier 😊
Really enjoyed this vlog, I like citrus fresh, light fragrances too so these perfume recommendations are perfect.
One of my faves is. 1 medium banana. Handful of spinach. Some cucumber. Handful of frozen blueberries. Some pineapple. 2 tbsps of Greek yog (good protein and will give you the creaminess) and some chia seeds/flax seeds (no taste but full of good stuff)x
I made a Smoothie today and tried your trick to clean it and it worked like magic! 💫 How did I never think of that before!!! 😅
I did the same thing with my perfume collection a few years ago. Went through and looked up all the notes and then made a list of the 5 most common notes and now I use that when I am looking at potential new perfumes.
For bread storage, we bought the largest le crusuet casserole in a funky colour and keep it in the hob. Serves a dual purpose of casserole and bread storage
Great idea - we rarely use all of the hob so having a nice casserole sitting out on it looks nice.
I completely understand you wanting to grow your hair again. I have fairly curly hair and cut it to shoulder length once- it was so high maintenance and required way more styling (compared to now when i put some hair oil through the ends and leave it). It had no weight to it so was way curlier and harder to control. I have accepted that short hair is very chic and on trend, but unfortunately was not compatible with my lifestyle or needing to spend ages styling it each day.x
Love Sundays and watching your vlogs ❤
Thanks for sharing your favourite scents! We have pretty similar taste in fragrance - at least we both don’t like the same ones 😅
Loved the vlog, too bad for your hair, loved it short but I understand your reasoning, you do you! 😊 And that lunch looked so delicious!
I have a similar blender, and just a tip: if it’s like mine, you don’t need to keep holding down the cup, you can twist it to lock in and ”blend by itself” and then you un-lock it when you want the blending to stop 😊
Deliciously ella does a pina colada smoothie! I haven’t tried it yet but might be worth giving it a go ❤
I felt the same about perfume after having baby.
I think You would love some Byredo perfumes - like Gypsy Water.
Also - BDK Gris Charnel. It has fig and sandalwood - more wintery type of perfume, not sweet.
Also a lot better performing similar to Glossier You would be Diptyque Fleur De Peau.
Molecule 01 is Iso e super based perfume, this mimics smell of cedar.
I was in a 90's mood and bought myself CK ONE from Calvin Klein. Love this perfum😊
As a curly girl, I agree with what you said about shorter hair. I can't wait to see to what length you grow yours out to. I grew mine to just below breast level (when straight) and that is what I found to be manageable for me. I wear it curly though.
I'm glad to hear that Germany went very well for you and your family, and I thoroughly enjoyed this video.
Lily you have quite similar hair to me, I cut it really short and had similar issues - I found the ends too chunky and created too much thickness at the end and in the wrong place. I’ve found just below collar bone is perfect - long enough to tie back - but not too long that you get the ratty hair at the bottom that never takes a styled curl properly x
Coconut water is a great addition to smoothies - adds electrolytes and gives you a liquid that isn't milk or water. Would definitely add to the Pina colada vibe without using coconut milk!
I have been looking for fun colourful salt and pepper grinders for months that aren't really expensive! Would love to see what you find!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels the loss of self after having a baby. Don't get me wrong I feel so blessed, especially because we had a loss before our baby, but I really struggled with this. No-one talks about how going from working full time to being on maternity leave can actually be quite hard either, I definitely spent a while feeling really quite lonely and just a bit lost with the complete change of routine.
Sainsbury’s does this pineapple and coconut juice. So nice!! I am a bit partial to adding white rum, but that would be amazing in a smoothie.
And for sweet one I use oat milk , banana frozen , 2 espresso shots, fresh dates for, normally 2-4 depends on the size, medjool is the best, cacao powder or cacao nibs 😋
Lily you need to try ANSWR for your hair! It’s a at home keratin treatment for smoothing down your hair, I tried salon ones and this works so much better. Makes your hard so smooth and healthy, i know everyone’s curly hair is different and the same treatments don’t work for everyone but I think it’s worth a try!
Lily, you can use dried coconut milk (just google it) in your smoothies for a pina colada effect. It such a delicious thing that you even can eat it via spoon, just as it is. Best.
Joe Wicks’ peanut butter and raspberry smoothie recipe is amazing. Highly recommend 😁
Lily, we literally have the same taste in perfumes 😊 love that Milk Extra! Have to tried any Commodity perfumes? I find Paper is v like Molecule 01. Also previous commenter said BDK Gris Charnel and it’s stunning too. My go to winter/evening scent.
Reeeally recomend passion fruit in your smoothie. Life changing
Hello ! I am 21 weeks pregnant with m'y first baby and I find it already so tricky to stay myself "style-wise" ! It is not thé easiest to see your body change !
Lots of love and thank you for your work❤
Have you heard of Hay homeware? They do really nice simple things but in lovely colours. They’re storage tins are really nice x
@Lily check out the Wesco bread boxes. Perfect timeless design and fun colours ;)
Thank you for the perfume chat! I thought for years I didn’t like perfumes but it turns out I just didn’t like smelling like cake or flowers.
Love your vlogs!
Loving your vlogs❤❤
Hey Lily, defo grow your hair if that’s what you want 😊 I will definitely have to try that perfume - I love my molecule 01, it’s the only perfume I can wear these days as I have developed a sensitivity to smells - even the nice ones 😩 That wrap you made for lunch looked delicious 🩷 xxx
Such an interesting video!
The part where you explain why you don’t like the high street perfumes I swear I said the exact same thing this morning to my husband 😅 they are so sweet and also who wants to smell the same like thousands. It is just not unique then.
Glossier You, Molecule 01 and Missing Person are my favourites too. Need to try the Extra Milk ❤
I chopped my hair a year ago, it was almost to my elbow long. It's straight and I have to invest much more time to style it now when it's shorter.
Completely agree about the hair length. When you have curl, you need length for weight, otherwise it's REALLY high maintenance. I have curl and my hair is VERY thick and I have to keep it quite long for the same reason. Mine is cute shorter, but wow, it's a CHORE.
Have you thought of embracing the curly hair? I think it would suit you so well
Lily I’ve kept bread in the microwave for years, keeps it super fresh and means you don’t need a bread bin! Just remove it whenever you need to use the microwave obviously 😂
Is the lunch enough for Rich? Looks very delicious
Spinach ( very little) banana ( frozen or fresh) frozen mango, and pineapple and some avocado (can get it frozen) and sometimes frozen coconut flesh or just shredded coconut and water 😊
I would love you to share how you make your iced coffee?? X
Spinach always in smoothies cause you can't taste it! I reguarly make them for my 3 year old so i feel better about her lack of vege intake 😊
You look gorgeous with the short cut. It’s a great length for you. I think you should keep it short.
Smoothie 🌱 lots of spinach, some kind of green powder like Chlorella, Moringa and/or Pumpkin Protein + an avocado and a banana on preferably oat of almond milk 🥛 mmmmmm!
Lily totally get the whole loosing urself after having a baby even a spritz of perfume can make you feel better xx. Can I ask where your rings are from please x
Phlur like phlegm 😂 This is the kind of fragrance content we’re here for 😂😂
I keep my bread in the fridge, keeps it fresh for longer and less to put on the table.
Your horror at the blender noise at 5:06 😂
If you’re looking for home inspo with more colour, Canadian RUclipsr Alexandra Gater has a cool design aesthetic!
Re the kitchen storage, could you swap the microwave to the counter and put all the other ones inside the pantry? I know a microwave is a big appliance but it's only one and will take up less space. We put our bread in a drawer. A gentle reminder we don't need weeks and weeks of certain snacks stored in our kitchen. Especially if it's taking up precious space. Enough snacks to last a week is fine. You probably do a weekly shop anyway. Also if your bread is getting mouldy on a weekly basis, than you probably need even less or put it in the fridge or freezer.
We keep our bread in the fridge - like Lily it's not a big kitchen so I really don't find it an issue to get it out!
Great video!
Autumn Elle Nutrion (here on youtube) has an aaaamazing pina colada healthy smoothie that I loooove. You may like it too!
I would use coconut water instead of milk with pineapple/lime.
What is the make of your salad chopper?
Have you tried not straightening your shorter hair? Shorter more natural wavy hair might be a solution?
Yes I did it a few videos back
Great sunday for you dear !
If you are after a lidded basket for bread, then watch Emma Hill’s latest Home Sense haul 😊
Hey, just curious, why did an canadian museum had your grandfathers passport, hey was living in London as well, right¿
hello lily can you please share with us the link to your apple watch bracelet
Fun with a little perfume content :)
hi lily
After many trials, my best smoothie - kewi, pineapple, banana, spinach, lime, maple syrup and water. Tastes smoothie shop made!
I loved this vlog!
If you cut and freeze your bananas on a baking tray overnight you can then put them in a bag and they won’t stick together 👍🏼
Safe defrosting should happen in the fridge!
So curious to know how your grandfathers passport ended up in Canada?
A cousin donated it to a holocaust museum as it had a J stamped on it
Is the.museum in Montreal ?
Have you ever considered keratin?
❤❤
Love your videos. Don't listen to the noises here❤
Pineapple has much more sugar than berries, so a pineapple smoothie would be sweeter. 😉
Noticed a new ring.. the one with a gem.. from
Where?
Good vid!
Think it’s Missoma if I remember correctly!
Lily, I love your content and videos but one thing that is grating when you tap your nails on everything. I know this is quite common in most people’s videos and commercials. I hope you don’t take the wrong way. ❤
You do realise you can not watch a video, you can just click off
@@nellidavies4542 gosh never thought of that. Thank you
@@nellidavies4542 no need for that comment - she obviously does want to watch Lily's videos but finds the nail tapping a bit off putting, lots of people do too.
Good Morning
Losing * xx
Never heard that scent thing abt postpartum candles/scents. Seems like a white ppl thing, other cultures dont give up scents incense or any of that
I keep my bread in the microwave!
Short hair🎉
Sorry I love your vlogs mostly but this one felt just like making a smoothie, your lunch, and then a coffee…and that was it? Have liked your hair short - at least you e tried it now!
I messed up the edit. Half term confusion!
Can yall fight to get your grandpas passport? That seems so wrong that they wont give it back
So much repetition of content in this one, felt like I was watching the same vlog from a few weeks back
I think folks need to realize though that vlogs are every day life and there isn’t always going to be something new or exciting like an event or something.
I very much enjoy even just a simple vlog like this one because it’s not extravagant and makes it more relatable.
Amen @danielleisinlove. I said the exact same above. Thanks
I think that is part of the appeal. Their vlogs have the feeling that you are just hanging out being a part of their life, and life IS repetitive at times. This is an actual person, letting you see a piece of their actual life. It is comforting and relatable in that way.
Thanks guys for the support, yes sometimes life is just lifing and 14 years of weekly videos there will be repetition, lol. But I actually think I got myself in a bit of a muddle this week, as it has been half term so I was off work for a week. I don't usually upload such short vlogs and I only just noticed how short this one is, so I think in a rush to edit and get a video up I've missed a day of vlogging out this video. Means an extra long one next week!
because this is what normal life looks like! It's not always exciting and it doesn't always have amazing things happening. I really like vlogs, thanks to them I see that my life is not bad or boring, just normal and real.
I also cut my hair short (not quite as short as you) the same time as you, and my hair is also curly (not as curly as yours though,) but does need straightening daily. I agree I thought it would be easier but it’s not, and feel like it doesn’t suit my face at all, major hair regrets 🥲 xx
