I think the roommate was involved. He brought the neighbor over to have a witness that he was walking in the bedroom for the first time. There was something shady about that.
Remember: Things aren't always as they appear. There could have been a third person. I have been suspected of things that were set up and, the worst part is, I cannot disprove them. I guess when you're falsely accused, you're more aware of different possibilities. How many innocent people have gone to prison because of quick assumptions?
Yes, I saw a crime on another show where the murderer similarly brought in a "first witness", then was later guilty. I think they were also military, if I remember.
I find it quite suspicious that *Jeffrey Digman's* roommate, who was a Major in the Marine Corps needed another man to go with him in his own house when he thought someone was in there. He's either involved somehow or a coward.
Yeah me too. I was thinking well keep the woman outside, and why would you ask a civillian for help unless he was armed as well? Its almost as if he wanted a witness.
This show did reenactments right. They made sure they had good actors and period-correct props and clothing. Nowadays we have Investigation Discovery shows where a story takes place in 1977 and you see the murderers roll up to the house in a 2019 Subaru while talking on cellphones.
Also they chose actors that speak the language that corresponds to the people involved, I've seen cases where the Nazis spoke real German during the reenactments, an actor that was portraying a British woman spoke with the British accent, and just in this episode the Mexicans speak actual Spanish during the scenes and an Indian woman actually speaks Navajo.
Very true. Sadly productions don't pay attention to the small details anymore. It was these details tho that can make or break a show by having the appropriate designs, props, and costumes
“Hey, I just pulled up… Yeah I’m talking on my cell phone. I don’t care that it’s 1975, I have a cell phone. Google it, cell phones totally existed in 1975. And so did Google!”
I'm always impressed by Jeffrey Digman's parents and how they went the extra mile to help solve the murder of their son, by having his bedroom (the crime scene) duplicated in their own house. Much respect to them.
After my sister’s murder (watch See No Evil: Loretta’s Last Valentine), the furniture in her apartment was moved to mine. I can confirm it is too spiritually and emotionally taxing to have that stuff around. That speaks to their strength and determination though.
I like how the major, Jeff's roommate, ropes an elderly neighbor into going inside the house with him. You're a professional soldier! Handle that shit on your own!
I find it odd that the major comes home, his girlfriend with him, and immediately becomes concerned, because his roommates car is there, and a light is on. Most would assume plans got changed, he missed his flight, etc. And, his car is there, so makes sense a light would be on. Really nothing to set off an alarm. But, major panicks, has girlfriend to vouch for that. Then, he goes across the street for a neighbor to help him search the house. The neighbor probably thought it odd Actually. It's like the neighbor is a witness along with the Girlfriend. I haven't seen the outcome yet. But it struck me as odd.
Yeah I don't understand why or how this never was suspicious to law enforcement or the military. They welcome new evidence yet the old evidence says plenty
"Your real birth dad, he died during the 2nd world war and your birth mother, she died right after giving birth to you. Well why don't you get a good night sleep" - Very comforting words from Dr. Sultan
Way better than my real life story. Your dad walked out on your family when you were 3 never to have anything to do with you again and your mom died of cancer when you were 28.
Jeffery was killed by his roommate so he could keep the house to himself. I mean who goes to get the Neighbor because they notice genie roommate is still home when he was supposed to of left a couple hrs earlier. Any innocent person would assume his flight was delayed

However, because she had not told anyone about having had two children while single, the broadcast was not allowed to show their reunion. The women, however, thanked the viewers for allowing them to finally meet her. Sadly, Barbara Smith died on December 28, 2013. *With the name of the Birth Mother, anyone that knew the Mothers name would more then likely link her to this episode anyway. So trying to hide it would probably be useless...
Notice that Patrick Lee Frank, who burned down all of those churches in Florida, was never released from the federal psychiatric place he was sent? That says that he was more than "just crazy", and that he was at the very least psychopathic. Also, the story of the two Barbara Anns made my heart melt. I am so glad they totally got to find their mother.
In 1993, he was found not guilty by reason of insanity and was sent to the Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield, Mo. Online federal prison records show he was released from that facility in January 2008.
Paul Stamper, tried to murder a man, abused and beat his own wife for years. Kidnapped her. Rightly got 35 years in jail but was RELEASED after 10 years. Which crazy person decided to put THIS crazy person back on the streets? Insane.
@Darude Sandstorm Your reasoning is deeply flawed. The way that you responded (in a smart ass way) to the other commenter would make one think that you had something intelligent to add to the conversation. Apparently not.

On November 13, 1991, a Tennessee drifter named Patrick Lee Frank was arrested for loitering. After his arrest, no more church fires occurred. Under questioning, he confessed to setting several in Florida, Tennessee, and Colorado. He claimed that churches caused him to steal and commit crimes. Investigators also learned that he had been sexually abused by a church member as a child. He was charged with fifteen of the fires. However, in January 1993, he was found not guilty for reason of insanity. He was institutionalized for fifteen years before being released in 2008.

I find the doctors actions weird. Why lie about her parents dying? I believe he's the father and was covering up because he was married and destroyed all evidence so HIS truth would never be exposed.
We are good detectives. Same thing I was thinking. The roommate just jump to something is terribly wrong. A normal person would think, “hey, my friend suppose to be gone, I wonder what happened, let me go in and find out.” It’s almost as if he wanted a witness or alibi. Did the police find that strange or his parents? Why was Digman alcohol level so high? Sometimes parents think they know their kids and don’t. Children keep a lot of painful things to themselves like if their going through depression, having suicidal thoughts, in trouble.
Unlikely. Unfortunately many times a government agency is informed and quickly take the gold or, Hopefully, someone finds it and remains quiet. Never forget, if you find a treasure, tell no one.

There was, and in many cases still is, shame around infertility and adoption. Many parents think they are sparing a child heartache by not telling the child about being adopted.
I think if someone found it their best bet would be to not say a word, melt it down little by little and sell off as needed. Especially considering the Mexican or US govt would swoop in and try to claim ownership
Notice the Detective stopped himself short when saying “we found gun powder residue on his hand which prov…shows it’s possible he fired a gun” when what he should of said was the gun powder residue on his hand was proof that his hand touched a fired gun.
It's amazing how the officials always say, if anyone comes up with new evidence, we will reopen the case, but they have already destroyed all the evidence that could help to convict the person that did the murder in the first place, probably because they ordered the hit and it makes me laugh how these people on the run, have had their face plastered all over the television, but when they are caught, they try to hide their face from the cameras, all it does is show their really bad comb over, lol.
Several viewers led the women to Victoria Bumgarner; they have since been reunited with her. it's so beyond disgusting how the most ruthless criminals are found innocent because of insanity, biggest bunch of BS in the world. they should give the guy a shovel and have him out there digging a new foundation for the church 12 hours a day 24/7
Can’t believe Stamper was convicted of kidnapping murder and escape and sent it to 35 years and they let them out after 10. Good Lord! You can kill somebody and get out in 10 years? And other people get the death penalty for the same crime. Kidnapping and murder should be the death penalty.
He was also already a convicted violent felon but this was prior to third strike laws. Nowadays he would’ve gotten a mandatory minimum between 25 years to Life.
On the surface, Dingman turning to alcohol, being depressed - not happy about his transfer to Puerto Rico - then committing suicide (before he had to go back) makes a lot of sense. This show had it's share of military men committing suicide or being involved in a conspiracy / cover-up. Depending on how you see it. Family members not wanting to believe their sons killed themselves. Like everyone else said, his fellow marine actions on the night in question are a little suspicious. If he's not involved, the only way I can make sense of someone acting that way is if things were already bad between the two or he had the foresight to think Dingman had potentially killed himself. The conspiracy theory - the bullet trajectory, the missing safe, the missing pages from the green book, his involvement in the drug unit - I wish it could be substantiated further.
I used to think these gold stories were silly until some guy discovered gold treasure last year there really is probably a ton of gold and jewels buried all over this country
1st off with both Barbara's having such little info on their birth parents, 2 reasons I can think of that it isn't a good idea, 1 family medical history just in case some genetically prone problem arises, & 2 to prevent accidental incest such as brother & sister, kissing cousin syndrome, or other such mixes. Not a good idea to prevent a person from knowing about who they are. Also, just a short paragraph of both Barbara's meeting their birth mother? What was the birth mothers response to them finding her? Were they half sister's, or did both have the same father? Why was it their birth mother wanted to remain anonymous?
Main reason is she had not told anyone that she had two kids while single. But I think in addition to that I think she pretty much didn't want to lose her family for keeping the secret but she also didn't want people thinking that she had cheated on someone while being in the war
I thought it was smart (not suspect) that Digmans roommate emlisted the help of a neighbor.. In the military you learn to always do things in teams for cover
I have always questioned the steps of the roommate. Would a Marine be afraid to enter his house even if someone was there? I thought Marines were super brave? Conveniently away that weekend? I don't know. I could be way off, but it just seems like he may have known something was going to happen. This story always bothered me. Doubt it was suicide.
The roommate was clearly either involved or knew what happened and made sure to cover his tracks so he wouldn't be questioned. I wish a lot of these cases would be reopened because Im sure with today's technology, many of these cases would get solved.
As someone who was adopted I really get the first part of Barbara Smith's story on first learning what being adopted meant. I've known all my life I was adopted and I remember the kid in my grade who bullied me throughout school would say things like "Your real mom didn't want you" or "They're not your real family" [referring to my adopted parents]. One day I remember crying to my dad about something he said and he looked at me and said "You are my real daughter. Your mom and I chose you and your brother and you both have been mine since the first time I held you. Your birthmom gave you up for adoption because she loved you enough to want you to have a better life than what she could give you, not because she didn't want you." I had to have been 10 at the time and I remember that clearly to this day and I think I probably always will.
Must've been the interior garage door leading into house, since both big ones were closed when the white car pulled up into the drive being the mustang.
Children are cruel due to their innocent, why will a mother told her daughter such tale, and that nasty goes and burst it out the moment they'd a little children quarrel. why not kept those secret within adults. Very Shameful!! and I do guess its painful to learnt such fact in that manner.
Of the people caught from Unsolved Mysteries, I am surprised the authorities actually moved on the tips. Typically they are so hardheaded and inept to actually do anything.
The 25th church in 15 months goes up in flames... authorities start to think there ‘may be’ a serial arsonist....ummmmm JC how many have to be set on fire before they come to the conclusion there is an arsonist! Lmao I mean ya know they might be on to something 🤦🏻♀️
They messed up doing an update on that rat Stamper, which annoyed me the first time, finding out he only did 10 of the 35-year term, but the update did not give us any new actual update lol, I was hoping in the update he'd been sent back to finish the other 25, but sadly not.
SOO wish UM would have been there to film the two sisters finding their mother! Such a remarkable story! Glad they found her, just would've been nice to witness it.

now that is love! i don't have anyone in my life that loves me enough to re-create my death scene so they could try to solve it.
YES!!! The Trabuco Treasure! My absolute *favorite* lost-treasure story from the glory days of UM! What a story!
Barbara 1 was a stone cold fox in the 50s
I agree!
I´m German and I understand English, but what means " stone cold fox"?Please explain it to me! Thank you!
@@sabine4759 really good looking
@@melemetcalf1681 Thank you very much for the explanation!
Both girls were pretty, they looked like twins!😎
In the case of Jeffery Digman I think that he was in a struggle with his killer and that's why the bullet tragratory is at a upper level
Trajectory and yes it most certainly seems there was a struggle with at least one assailant near the bed.
i still get scared after an unsolved mysteries episode. i feel more cautious afterwards. its an unsettling feeling. anybody else?
Sisters with the same name wtf
😊
Just like Pete and Peete
They were both named Barbara by their adoptive parents, not from birth. Barbara was a very very very common name back then, particularly Barbara Ann.
Thank YOU Lord Jesus for giving those 2 sisters to each other!
After telling a child that how's she suppsoe to get a good night sleep
Yeah what an asshole.
Robert: Maybe you can help solve a mystery
Me who wasn't born until 95: Maybe I saw or know something :O
In the case of the sisters, it seems that people of that era took their secrets to the grave.
I haven't seen this episode in years. The shot of Trabuco at 33:14 standing with his cane near his truck was an image that always stuck with me.
Or saying if new evidence comes to light while the evidence they do have is plenty to prove it was a murder and not a suicide
Several viewers led the women to Victoria Bumgarner; they have since been reunited with her. However, because she had not told anyone about having had two children while single, the broadcast was not allowed to show their reunion. The women, however, thanked the viewers for allowing them to finally meet her. Sadly, Barbara Smith died on December 28, 2013.
You're a mvp
Thanks for this channel!
Btw. Bot Barbaras are wonderful ladies. 👍
it's so beyond disgusting how the most ruthless criminals are found innocent because of insanity, biggest bunch of BS in the world. they should give the guy a shovel and have him out there digging a new foundation for the church 12 hours a day 24/7
While I agree, 12 hours a day 24/7 doesn't make sense. 12 hours a day would be 12/7.
Can’t believe Stamper was convicted of kidnapping murder and escape and sent it to 35 years and they let them out after 10. Good Lord! You can kill somebody and get out in 10 years? And other people get the death penalty for the same crime. Kidnapping and murder should be the death penalty.
yeah, still not good news that he has been released. You never know that Stamper will be back to his old tricks again
He was also already a convicted violent felon but this was prior to third strike laws. Nowadays he would’ve gotten a mandatory minimum between 25 years to Life.
👊 BE VIGILANT JUSTICE HAS TO COME 👊
R.I.P. JEFFREY DIGMAN 💫🙏💫
Yeah, if I suspected a robber was still in my house, I wouldn't enter it solo either. 😂
Stemper marriage is like the old Julia Roberts movie, Sleeping with the Enemy.
Seeing Ted Gunderson in this caught me off guard. Dude was director of LA FBI and heavily involved in all kinds of conspiracy stuff.
MAJOR DID IT BEFORE HE LEFT!
The roommate was clearly either involved or knew what happened and made sure to cover his tracks so he wouldn't be questioned. I wish a lot of these cases would be reopened because Im sure with today's technology, many of these cases would get solved.
God had a plan for this two sisters
Shady Doctor!!
The red headed actress playing Barbara Rather is Angie Rae McKinney. She was in the TV movie A Killer Among Friends with Tiffani Amber Theissen
.
Stamper only got 10 years, that's crazy
Teresa Staper and her story was made into a Lifetime movie! Teresa’s strength was amazing & she had such a great mother by her side.
People make too much of people being left or right handed. A left handed person is perfectly capable of firing a gun with their right hand.
Why would the doctor destroy the records? He's probably their real father or had some kind of an affair with their mother.
Children are cruel due to their innocent, why will a mother told her daughter such tale, and that nasty goes and burst it out the moment they'd a little children quarrel. why not kept those secret within adults. Very Shameful!! and I do guess its painful to learnt such fact in that manner.
vicious bitch, its parents who poison there children's mind out of jealously ,hatred and pure evil.
I get the piece of shit comment, but why "white"???
This hurt my brain to read… it makes no sense.
Loooove unsolved mysteries
Ted Gunderson
Yessss he is a legend
I believe what he says
I hate kids even from my time in grade school. They can be so mean and hurtful!
Barbra's best friend makes fun of her because she is adopted...........with a friend like that who needs enemys
Why ask for a neighbor to help you look in the house when you have no reason to think anything strange is happening.
Who wants to go with me to find Trabuco's Treasure?
Sounds like a job for the boys of oak island and Gary drayton, find some Bobby dazzlers
They messed up doing an update on that rat Stamper, which annoyed me the first time, finding out he only did 10 of the 35-year term, but the update did not give us any new actual update lol, I was hoping in the update he'd been sent back to finish the other 25, but sadly not.
The Special Alert was crazy
SOO wish UM would have been there to film the two sisters finding their mother! Such a remarkable story! Glad they found her, just would've been nice to witness it.
the arsonist must have had a hate on for the lord
That poster at 20:45 is so. 80'$
I love it
