Patty Stallings had a really good husband. When the cops and everyone said she had hurt the baby he wasn't having it at all! He stood by her through all of it.
I can't help wondering if she hadn't of been left alone with the baby and fed him a bottle, then when he had his next attack, would the police still have blamed her and stuck her in jail. Probably because this story I've heard several times and it's one where the police have tunnel vision. But I'm so glad she's been proven innocent and they got their son back.
@karen hall @Ashlee Larsen I understand you guys are blaming the cops, tunnel vision, etc, but I really dont fault them in this case. They had multiple doctors and staff telling them that the child was poisioned. That's all they had to go on. The cops dont have a medical degree; they are going to rely on a position of authority which all of us do. They dont ask for second opinions - that's what her lawyer is for. I dont know if the lawyer was able to investigate it, perhaps all his experts would say the same thing. As the show stated this was rare and very new and could easily be mistook for poisoning, but only doctors with experience with 'MMA' would know that. The internet didnt exist back then, so really the only way was to reach people thru TV and / or radio to ask the public for help. In this case, thankfully, it worked.

The Beverly case freaked me out so much. The people that killed her were extremely creepy. Decapitating someone innocent over money is insane. I feel like those people were just sick in the head and took advantage of innocent people.
Patty was wronged by the system that imprisoned her very quickly. Thanks to the good Lord, she got her freedom. May God bless her and be very happy despite the scars caused by the unjust accusations against her and her husband.
Right, the "good Lord" who saw fit to give her two children with an awful illness, which led to her being wrongfully accused and convicted of first degree child murder by a prosecutor; who didn't see/didn't want to admit that two children suffering the same symptoms when the second one was nowhere near their mother (who was supposed to be a child killer). This then left a poor innocent woman languishing in jail as a child killer, and if there is one thing that's even worse than being wrongfully convicted of killing your own child is then being stuck in prison with a lot of people who want to hurt and kill you for something you didn't actually do. I'm no prison expert, but child killers and rapists are seen as the lowest of the low in prison and are constant targets for abuse, for which she was not deserving of as she was innocent. If that's a "good Lord" then I want nothing to do with such an awful deity. Stop trying to justify shitty things through religion. I personally enjoyed the fact that when the prosecutor ran for re-election, Patty Stallings gave $10,000 to his opponent and his opponent won. Piece of shit should be in jail for his misconduct in prosecuting Patty Stallings, he was incompetent to say the least.
Wow old school Lakewood Church before Joel took over after his dads death. Wonder what his dad would think now? I used to love Joel Osteen but am now against mega churches.
At the time of the bombings, investigators speculated that the cases might be linked to the murders of Judge Robert Smith Vance and civil-rights attorney Robert Robinson, who were both killed with similar bombs. Walter Moody was later arrested and convicted for the murders of Vance and Robinson. However, he has never been conclusively linked to the televangelist bombings. More recently, some have suggested that Olympic Park Bomber Eric Rudolph may have been responsible for the bombings. Interestingly, he matches the description of the bomber and lived in North Carolina around the time that the bombs were sent. The bombs he used in the 1996 attacks were similar in design to the televangelist bombs. Also, he was apparently against materialism and born-again Christians. However, he has never been officially connected to these bombings, either.
Unfortunately, Sally messed up. She may have been 29, but she was naive. Why would she ever accept someone's marriage proposal after a week of meeting the guy? I know things were simpler 35 years ago, but still. And if cell phones were more prominent back then, if Sal was indeed spotted at that BK, maybe he would've been captured.
After rechecking the British Airways Flight 292 passenger list, authorities discovered that "Alice" had used the name Sylvia Ann Hodgkinson to purchase her tickets. Through this name, authorities were able to identify her as a con artist named Elaine Parent. She had previously been acquainted with Hodgkinson and had stolen her identity. In May 1991, she was arrested while holding identification for both Hodgkinson and another woman. However, she was released without charge. Forensic evidence in Beverly's car and handwriting on a tablet in her condo was also linked to her. Over the years, she became known as the "Chameleon Killer" as she had stolen more than twenty identities. However, because of this, she was able to elude capture for over a decade. In April 2002, police finally caught up with Elaine with the help of an anonymous tip. At the time, she was living in an apartment in Panama City, Florida. After detectives arrived there, they allowed her to change clothes. During this time, however, she took her life with a .357 Magnum to the heart to avoid capture. Although Elaine's death might bring a sense of closure to Beverly's family, it left much of the secrets of her bizarre lifestyle and criminal career unanswered. Also, some suspect that she may be responsible for other murders that she has yet to be connected with. As for "Sam", he was never identified. However, some believe that he may have actually been Elaine.
I don’t think the chameleon killer did all that killing and dismembering by herself. And who was the man in the cheap party city wig? SO MY Q’s LEFT UNANSWERED
There are SO many memorable cases in this episode . . . 1) The bomber case isn't one that I recall, but it's hard not to laugh a little at Pat Robertson's being portrayed as a victim. It's also fascinating to see this earlier incarnation of the controversial Osteen family. 2) The tragic case of Kathie Williams and her abominable stepfather, Clifford Starks. You can't feel angry enough for her. 3) The eerie, shocking death of Beverly Ann McGowan: I remember the man in drag and the mutilated condition of her body, as well as the importance of her tattoo being discovered.
The murder of Beverly McGowan is one of the most gruesome ever profiled on UM, total overkill. Glad they caught "Alice", but I wonder what happened to the weirdo and his cheap Cleopatra wig.
Elaine Parent Was Identified As A Suspect In The Brutal Murder Of Beverly McGowan Unfortunately She Committed Suicide Before Authorities Could Question Her
Like the other person said, it's been speculated that the "man in the Cleopatra wig" was just Elaine Parent in another disguise. I tend to believe it because Elaine was clearly a chameleon and total psychopath.
If someone proposed to me within a week of knowing me... I would seriously think that something is wrong.. because he doesn't know me from a hole in the ground.. she should of known better.
there are three strong people in the Patty Stalling (accused of killing her child) case. 1: prosecuting attorney from St. Louis, they never apologize, he did personally and for his office! 2: her husband as he stuck by his wife, not many do! 3: last but not least Patty Stalling herself!
that woman who moved in with Beverly, wanted her identity i knew this before i even saw the update she was probably selling the stolen identities if she wasn't planning on keeping beverlys identity for herself
The Sal and Sally one at 39:09, Sally at first says that she thinks is "Mr. Right" and that he "has a car". Well most people do... And that "he has a job" well most people do... And lady, the guy's age was 30 plus and he worked "part time" at a pizza parlor. I mean lady, really, a man working Part Time at a Pizza Place, you're impressed with that? Also 41:32 "This Place is A Dump!"😂😂😂 Give the Guy an Emmy!
I as a Christian do not like the Osteens and their prosperity-gospel nonsense, and neither do I care for Pat Robertson, but attempting to kill any of them is wrong. God will hold them accountable, it’s not our job.
Amen. When we are wronged (in any way at all), it is *never* our place to take our own vengeance. Because unlike humans, the Almighty would never do so out of impure motives.
There was a teen in my classroom who was often in trouble, and the parents didn't give us a working contact info. After weeks of trying to contact them, I found that he was Detective Lieutenant! When he finally showed up, he was dismissive, said bad things about his son, and I was asking "what have you been doing all his life?" Then I met the mother, and she was totally passive and submissive. The father was clearly controlling his wife.
Poor Cathy, it's really sad and disgusting how this happened. You have to wonder just how many supposedly delinquent minors were actually victims of the same type of abuse but were never believed.
The deputy that helped patty is what being a police officer is all about. That is a good man. With sal and sally, it is amazing how many women fall for and stay with piece of craps. Like its a magnet for women or something. I see all the time women saying how great their husband is and will never leave, then watch as he berates the crap out of her and abuses her emotionally while keeping her down. All the while women saying, no he is a great guy and I love him.
Alice was supposed to be on loan to the United States from England working for IBM in South Florida. How did the cops know this if the notation in Beverly's condo only read "Alice Tuesday 6;30" no last name no phone number? Anyway, Alice shot herself in the heart.
The fact that the bomber targeted churches in general is very telling indeed. Also, Elaine Parent was a "chameleon serial killer", so there is no reason to want a motive. She took the coward's way out instead of having to face the living victims. She is a _Deadly Women_ episode segment that needs to happen, though.
It wasn't really churches though, it was 2 televangelists. It would be different if it was random churches. I think the person was probably jealous of them in some deep seated psychological way, and something either happened to him physically to stop him or he snapped out of whatever.
@@kaylapounds1359, or he was imprisoned for another crime. That is the more likely idea. The sad thing is that Olsteen's son has taking that church into a very dark direction, fully embracing both "Name it, claim it" theology and "God is just Love" mindset, both of which are demonic "doctrines".
Except the bomber didn't target churches. The bomber didn't even target the congregations themselves, they targeted two individual televangelists. Have you ever stopped and wondered why Pat Robertson's mail was even being inspected with a fucking x-ray machine to begin with? After all, most churches don't inspect their packages anywhere near as meticulously as his did and yet they've never received pipe bombs in the mail. So why was he being targeted? I'll give you a hint: he literally has an entire Wikipedia page devoted just to his controversies alone.
I wonder what ever happened to that woman’s step-father? He needed to be prosecuted for rape and fired from the police force. However, I doubt any of that happened. I’m so glad she was able to break free from that situation. Its great that officer believed her because most in the criminal justice system just assume you are guilty and don’t gaf. But that’s not always the case.

I think there was only one person, Elaine Parent. I read elsewhere that she would sometimes disguise herself as a man in drag.

The Elaine Parent case still baffles me. A motion picture needs to be made about this case. The actress portraying "Alice" looks like Loni Anderson

Why if I may ask?

Clifford is a real power abuser😮
It was like watching that episode where the guy frauding the system lived at Trump Towers.
Yes. I find it hard to find any sympathy for people who use the excuse of being religous to condemn others.
The murder of Beverly McGowan is one of the most gruesome ever profiled on UM, total overkill. Glad they caught "Alice", but I wonder what happened to the weirdo and his cheap Cleopatra wig.

@@reneebrown1362 Yep, glad she was caught! But I wonder what happened to the weird guy with the wig, it's scary to think he was never identified.

It's been speculated that "Sam" was actually Elaine Parent is a elaborate disguise. Both Alice & Same were listed as around the same height too.
Like the other person said, it's been speculated that the "man in the Cleopatra wig" was just Elaine Parent in another disguise. I tend to believe it because Elaine was clearly a chameleon and total psychopath.

there are three strong people in the Patty Stalling (accused of killing her child) case. 1: prosecuting attorney from St. Louis, they never apologize, he did personally and for his office! 2: her husband as he stuck by his wife, not many do! 3: last but not least Patty Stalling herself!
The prosecutor considered the second son's diagnosis of MMA irrelevant and is the reason it wasn't presented at her trial.

Just when you think Stack cant draw you in any further he drops a "join me" and the end of his usual line.
He was living off of her and her family so it's hard to leave him in that case.
Alice was supposed to be on loan to the United States from England working for IBM in South Florida. How did the cops know this if the notation in Beverly's condo only read "Alice Tuesday 6;30" no last name no phone number? Anyway, Alice shot herself in the heart.
That's a young Joel Osteen in that newspaper 😁
... who the prosperity preacher?
Jealous? His target was a bigot. Good riddance!
