I'm in the Los Angeles Master Chorale, and we performed this with the LA Phil/Gustavo Dudamel in February 2019. Tan Dun was there as well; it was one of the most transformative musical experiences of my life; the entire Buddha Passion is OUT OF THIS WORLD incredible, and this movement especially entrances. The soloists were Tan Weiwei and Batubagen.
Just saw this at the Edinburgh Festival. It was superb! And I say that having practised Zen Buddhism myself for the last 28 years. Really extraordinary.

Dear Hasibagen I also played for this concert, I played 2nd clarinet in the orchestra. This was one of the most incredible concerts in my time at SSO. I remember you and Miss Gong were exceptional. The overtone singing were just out of this world. 慈悲的菩萨，你在哪里？ ….在你心里….. 那一句话我永远不会忘的。谢谢你！

Although I would love to listen, hear and see the entire performance, this is surely a true masterpiece from the great Tan Dun and the singers are outstanding. Bravissimo
I don’t like Gong Linna’s version. Seems she added elements from Peking Opera, which is completely out of context. The story, the culture and and the characters are originated in Middle Asia.

Interestingly what the woman is singing sounds traditionally Scottish. Probably relating to the common use of the pentatonic scale.
