Poor Medusa got killed because of stupid Athena and pervert Poseidon. If only Athena were able to listen and understand Medusa and didn't let her jealousy took over her. Medusa would still remain as a priestess of her temple.
years ago when I was in high school, we went on a trip to Greece and ended up going to Delphi. It was so awe inspiring to visit a place where so many ancient historical things have happened, myth and otherwise. It was crazy to look down at the stone platform and see where the oracle would have sat and given gas fume fueled advice. It is by far my favourite historical place I've ever been to.
yeah but like they're immortal and stuf. plus Poseidon slept with medusa, and Athena popes out of Zeus's head after he ate his wife in the form of a fly. its complicated, don't even try to understand these things.

Die because of someone was boasting around just to prove something she was killed and even before that she was cursed for being a beautiful faithful priestess
I feel so bad for Medusa. I heard her story. It was the Gods Poseidon and Athena who did her wrong. I can see why Medusa turned other heroes and warriors to stone. She was defending herself. Medusa has a sad fate. So from hearing on how the gods behave, sometimes their good, but other times the gods are just evil and selfish.
The gods/goddesses were reflections of the humans who worshipped them. They have godly powers but human desires and emotions. They get angry, jealous, petulant. They can also be kind, helpful, and benevolent. Such fascinating history and mythology.
That's why the second commandment was made. Serving anything under the force behind absolutely everything will just create an imbalance due to the fact any 1 god will lead you down a finite path and sometimes it just doesn't work out for you because of the imbalance, and because these singular aspects of nature are but a piece of infinity. So its best to put your faith in the fabric of consciousnesses all people aswell as all gods belong to. You will find more correct pathways to follow. Medusa worshiped Athena who represented just 1 aspect of all of creation so therefore by ignoring other aspects of God she was simply used by the limited scope available to her that she chose to see. The second commandment isn't just about jealousy its more of a warning. like hay if you put your faith in this particular things anything short of complete universal consciousness (yaway) spelled wrong here. You might find yourself in a situation you wouldn't have otherwise since this one god is selfish and only really serves themself and their particular cause. In medusas case it was the jealousy she made Athena feel due to her not being completely conscious of anything but Athena.
I love that this is about Percy, but everyone focuses on Medusa. Poor guy is treated like he's the villain, when, if you think about it, his actions did more good than harm. Medusa might have died, but she was finally freed from her torment, her Goddess had forgiven her, and two heroes were born from her death. In ancient times, killing someone cursed by the Gods on the orders of said Gods was considered an act of forgiveness. Some adaptions have Percy feeling sympathy for Medusa too.
Basically the idea is that these Gods are US - the constant interaction between Humans and Gods in these religions - Hinduism is the same way - is telling us that Gods are not people living in some magic lands full of magic powers - they are US and we can aspire to be Gods That is the goal of Hinduism - Aham Brahmasmi - I am God! Perseus: "Those who are my friends cover your eyes" Enemies: "Oh, not us, let's continue, not like he'll take out Medusa's head..." Perseus: "Now I'm gonna show you what's called a pro gamer move"
Bizarre as it sounds perseus was both heracles' half brother AND also his great grandfather (what happens when you're father is immortal and never saw a mortal woman he didn't wanna bang)
The story of Perseus was made into the 1981 film "Clash of the Titans" and then remade as the 2010 film version of "Clash of the Titans". However, in both films the Greek sea monster Cetus @ 8:28 was substituted with the Norwegian sea monster the Kraken.
Danäe’s story is possibly a precursor to the story of Rapunzel because in both tales, a maiden is locked in a high tower away from all contact but a male lover manages to enter and as a result, the girl becomes pregnant and is taken from the tower and left for dead, except Danäe and her son Perseus were thrown into the river while Rapunzel and her twins were abandoned in the wilderness.
I feel bad for Medusa. She just wanted to make friends with the human, she wanted the human considered her as a normal human, not a Gorgon. Medusa respected Athena but she was punished, was deprived the beauty and the pertrified look :((
The country we call Ethiopia as well as its neighbor Eritrea are both named after places in modern day Greece. In the Illiad one of Troy's allies is King Memnon of Ethiopia.
As with all myths this one has a couple of different versions and I believe in one version of The Myth Perseus actually sneaks up on Medusa while she's asleep
After seeing the movie clash of the titans 1981 I asked a Greek woman who I knew in early 1980s if she believed in Greek mythology and she says I was brought up with Greek mythology from my grandmother and she was brilliant telling the stories of Greek myths. Perseus was placed in the night sky and he is up there along with Andromeda and Cassiopia for all to see. Greek mythology is so interesting. Feel sorry for medusa as she treated bad. Clash of the Titans really made my actual undersanding of this myth really hard as they changed so much for no decernable reason. But at the same time each retelling is part of the story. There is no real source truth. The eternal wish to try to undersand our origins so worthwhile.
Wait a minute.. How could Heracles come after Perseus if Perseus turned Atlas into a mountain? If Heracles came after then how did he interacted with Atlas to get him the golden apples if Atlas is already a mountain? Something isn't clicking here...

Inaccurate. Andromeda dies and Perseus seeks the sisters of fate to change her destiny. In his search he runs into a Spartan who seeks the sisters as well. They eventually fight and he gets killed by the Spartan.
The part about Perseus and Andromeda kind of reminds me of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. He's given an object that makes him invisible, and a magic sword which he uses to defeat a serpent and rescue a damsel in distress whom he ends up marrying.
There's a bit of conflict in this story, If Perseus petrified Atlas how come on one of Hercules's labor he met and tricked Atlas? as you said at the end of the story Hercules was one of Perseus's descendants.
The Ancient Greeks Told Great Stories about their gods and they might have made great Filmmakers, if that Art form might have been discovered back in those times.
Well,Its not Just fancy stories if you read em in Greek..All names mean something related to the human behavior,to geological events,to interactions with primitive wild people as with advanced civilizations. Also Greek-Hellenic language has a mathematical structure (same as Sanskrit) with names and related properties having the same arithmetic value.Same with the Bible, reading it in English can be just words and stories, but reading it in Hebrew and Greek, words can have a second symbolic meaning hard to translate in one word for other languages..reading with dictionaries it works
Gosh!!!! I was half expecting this Perseus would be Percy Jackson. Oops!!! I realized it was just a character. Heyyy is Zoe nightshade a character of the book or is she really one of the hesperids
No but even though percy Jackson was different he was named After Perseus by Sally Jackson because Perseus is the only hero who didn't have a tragic life and she hoped that percy had a happy ending
Me: *sees thumbnail* ooh I want to see Percy's life again *Clicks video* Me: wait hold on a sec this isn't persues Jackson it's PERSUES HIS NAMESAKE Like if you fell for it too
When I watch the movie "Percy Jackson:Son of Poseidon" I'm settled with the thought of he is a son of Poseidon but now? WOW! What a very confusing story.
Actually it is explained in the book that Sally Jackson named her son Perseus Jackson because the other “Perseus” was the only Greek Hero with a pleasant end. Perseus Jackson is the son of Poseidon but this Perseus was the son of Zeus.

Wolfgang Sebastian Well none of this is actually real so people twist the story anyway they want.
Zeus was low-key innovative with the way he impregnated girls.
I feel so bad for Meedusa, what had been done to her was unfair
And how the hell did all the other warriors get passed Medusa's sisters ?
Loved it! Kinda weird the Oracle (a woman) had such a deep voice o_0 lol
I read the book Percy Jackson,it was really interesting so I decided to watch this 😅
but don't decide to watch the movie adaptation!😂😂😂
Fun fact: the reason why the Greeks hated Medusa was because her weave had them messed up
😂😂😂 that's a unique perspective.
The part about Perseus and Andromeda kind of reminds me of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. He's given an object that makes him invisible, and a magic sword which he uses to defeat a serpent and rescue a damsel in distress whom he ends up marrying.
I love perseus's story
There's a bit of conflict in this story, If Perseus petrified Atlas how come on one of Hercules's labor he met and tricked Atlas? as you said at the end of the story Hercules was one of Perseus's descendants.
Hercules is north african not greek
Hercules was before Perseus I don't know where this guy got that story of descendance
@@scorpiusjoecrux2039 wrong perseus was first
@@amazigh8776 no he isn't lol
Diego Manio yes he is almost all greek legends are from north africa
Just watch PERCY JACKSON THE LIGHTNING THEIF there you'll understand the Greek gods.
Man mets his Destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.
All my life I thought Hercules was son of Zues
Yes, he was but a bastard son
Umm he was
Zeus has at least 5 half-human children. Possibly more.
@@pasijutaulietuviuesas9174 yeah cause he sleeps with random mortals and lets them die with their new demi god Yay
IWantToBe Yeontan He IS
7:19 I’m Perseus son of Zeus?
Are you sure it’s I’m Perseus son of Poseidon...
The most wronged person in whole Greek mythology is definitely Medusa
And hades
Prometheus?
no... no.. just no, she is not, in "Greek Mythology" she was Born a Gorgon
Gosh!!!! I was half expecting this Perseus would be Percy Jackson. Oops!!! I realized it was just a character. Heyyy is Zoe nightshade a character of the book or is she really one of the hesperids
u fan of "lightning thief"???😂😂😂
the movie adaptation is pretty cr*p though🤣🤣🤣
No but even though percy Jackson was different he was named After Perseus by Sally Jackson because Perseus is the only hero who didn't have a tragic life and she hoped that percy had a happy ending
And them kratos killed them all.. the end 😊
Hahahahahaha
False
"Let me tell you a story tommy"

There was one thing you forgot to mention about Perseus

Me: wait hold on a sec this isn't persues Jackson it's PERSUES HIS NAMESAKE
Like if you fell for it too
SR Patel how was it a trick if you didn’t read it properly?
When I watch the movie "Percy Jackson:Son of Poseidon" I'm settled with the thought of he is a son of Poseidon but now? WOW! What a very confusing story.
This is a different perseus
That movie is fiction and should not exist. Read the books. They're fictional too, but much better story
Actually it is explained in the book that Sally Jackson named her son Perseus Jackson because the other “Perseus” was the only Greek Hero with a pleasant end. Perseus Jackson is the son of Poseidon but this Perseus was the son of Zeus.
In the end he said Hercules was a decent of Perseus bit Hercules is also a son of Zues...doesnt that make Perseus and Hercules brothers?
That was what I was thinking
Alternate title - orgins of the term "Golden Shower"
😂😂
