Just found the dime sized hole on the side of my 2007 150. Noticed the loud exhaust sound as well. Do you think I can get away with running the motor for a few more weeks before I’d typically winterize it? You think I’m best off buying a new motor this winter or have a mechanic try to repair it? Appreciate the help
I thought i deplied ro this. So I apologize if this is a duplicate. Based on my teardown I would stop using immediately. The job probably costs 5-6K. I giess you need to weigh your engine time, price of repair against a new one. Keeping on mind the motor should be good to at least 2000 hours.
Based on my engine i would stop using it and have it fixed. Your probably looking at 5-6 k if you let someone do it. So i guess you need to weigh rhe time on the motor, the cost of the repair against a new engine. Donuou have a lot of low rpm hours on your engine?
Great explanation. I think you got it right with the “cheap China casting” comment.

Ok thank you very much. Yeah I only have about 650 hours on the engine
