WOW! He's so precise!! What a great guitar player. He maybe doesn't shine as a lead performer (it would be nice to hear some leads from him) but he's a solid rhythmic foundation for Mastodon.
Actually, he performs the leads from time to time: my favourite is the "Sleeping Giant" lead parts. Great IMO. Rhythmically, Bill's an absolute beast of a player.
@@teenageblood4531 "average hetfield type"... dude... i iove kelliher but hetfield is WAY better rhytm player... it's cool to have different tastes and all... but as far as the techical aspects of playing guitar, hetfield is stronger in rhytm and is much harder to perform as solid as him... the way I view it, kelliher is pretty average player
He's wearing a t-shirt for my favorite band, Baroness!!!!!!! Right on!!! If you're reading this, go check the band out, they're Georgia natives just like Mastodon!
Same here; It took me some time to pull off by ear the mid-prog section of "the last baron" (which is INSANE). I’m working on that one and also on the funky riff after that part - the part with the tambourine - . These guys are brilliant composers.
Some riffs are cheap pizza, there's nothing wrong with cheap pizza, I love cheap pizza, but this man's riffs are like grandma's roast - a rich delicious meal made with craft!
@@richardb8104 it was awesome! Bill is a very good teacher, and told stories about how they wrote the riffs etc. i also met Brann in the hallway before the lessons, unforgettable day:)
his playing is so relaxed
he seems like such a cool person. excellent guitarist, seems like the level headed glue in the band.

I was shocked about that fact, too. His picking is pure gold.
@@madbiker7902 he also does occasional leads like in black tongue or in burning man
The dude was in lethargy, he’s more than your average hetfied rythym type, the guy is a master of his instrument

Every time I listen to Mastodon I feel like i'm beginning guitar again. Listening to a band and trying to figure out the riffs haha.

Baroness kicked my ass a few times as well
This guy is good, he should join a band
😂
One of my fave riffs!! worth the lesson if they come back to my city.

Their music sometimes remember classical music.. mastodon are great musicians
That precision 🙈
can't wait for my lesson!
That picking hand is dead on.
Awesome great music song. So sound. Rock. 🎸 🤘
Bill K.
Is the Billy Gibbons of Mastodon.
😆
Lookswise it seems he borrowed a LOT from a certain other metal player. Facial hair, wristbands, explorer, powerstance...
Dear god. Doing this in a monthh
I hope it was very fun for you! :)
Does anyone know more or less how much his lesson is.
Yo, I believe he now charges $200. I think when I did it it was $100 but that was two years ago.
im having lessons with him in oslo in two weeks, he charges 150 dollars! cant wait
@@sebastianorellana6593 How did your lesson from 4 years ago end up going?
