When I hear someone who likes harder music say they've never heard of LOVEBITES before, it's almost like a basketball fan back in the 1990s saying they've never heard of Michael Jordan. In terms of pure musicianship, they are almost certainly the most talented metal band to appear in the last 20 years.

Here some information about them:
The band was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album came out in 2017. So far LOVEBITES have released 4 albums, some Singles/EPs and also a bunch of DVD/Blu-ray live recordings.
Back in 2018/2019 LOVEBITES have already toured in Europe, including appearances at the major metal festivals as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop. In 2018 they also won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band.
Then came covid, their original bass player and founder Miho quit the band for personal reasons and two babies were born. After a break LOVEBITES came back with new bassist Fami and new song „Judgement Day“ in late 2022. A new album with the same title came out in February 2023.
LOVEBITES just finished touring in Europe. I saw them for the first time 2 and a half weeks ago 🤘🏼🐺🔥
They will be in the US later this year.

She has an amazing vocal range and vibrato, writes most of the lyrics, also did parts of the song writing for their latest 2 albums, she is a former ballerina and RnB/soul singer

She is the musical brain of the band, main composer and arranger, a soulful but also shreddy guitar player and concert level pianist, furthermore she is a gear nerd
Midori on guitars (crazy shredder):
Incredibly fast and technical guitar player, has contributed to songwriting for a few of their songs, also she is a body fitness athlete
Haruna on drums (little big engine):
Plays very fast pace over long distances, she is very efficient and her stamina is admirable, the cymbal work is outstanding, she also wrote one of their songs including lyrics, creates handmade miniature fake food
Fami on bass since 2022 (shining fingers):
Absolute bass prodigy with outstanding technique, she speaks faster than sonic speed as she plays and smiles non-stop
Miho on bass until 2021 (natural born headbanger):
We will never forget her, she is a great bass player, she wrote several of the songs for the band’s albums 1-3
Named after the Grammy winning song "Love Bites(So Do I)" by Halestorm. Lead singer is Asami, she has joined Lzzy and Halestorm, at Download 2019, tp perform that song.
Miyako and Midori (blond pony tail) can shred with anyone, IMO 2 of the best today. Haruna is a beast on drums. New bassist ,Fami, is seen here in this 2023 Knockin' At Heaven's Gate concert. Fami joined in Oct 2022, after the original bassist, Miho, decided to leave in 2021. Haruna and Miho formed the band in 2016.
Some songs lean towards power metal, some towards thrash, and some ballads. They will tell you, "We play heavy metal". 4 albums to date, this is from the 2nd, 2018's Clockwork Immortality.

Welcome to Lovebites, the Wolfpack, Lovebites fans around the world will be along to give you information and recommendations.
Lovebites are a Japanese metal band, formed in 2016 by Miho, Bass, and Haruna, Drums, who are former members of Destrose, a band that broke up in 2015. They take much of their influence from the 1970's and 80's British and European bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica. Miho left the band in 2021 for personal reasons.
The current members are,
Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained in Ballet Dancing and before Lovebites was a R&B singer. She writes many of the lyrics and sings in English, not easy for a native Japanese speaker.
Midori, Guitar. The blond 'Amazon Warrior' who is also a body builder.
Miyako, Guitar, Piano and Keyboards. the 'serious' one with long black hair. She is a classically trained pianist who writes much of the music, often incorporating classical themes into her compositions..
Both Guitarists play lead, swapping lead and rhythm as required. They play amazingly good harmonised dual solos.
Fami, Bass. The 'new girl', recruited as replacement for Miho in late 2022 when she was 20 years old and still at university, playing her first live show with the band in March 2023. This video is from the end of that concert. She has her own YT channel that has nearly 700,000 subs. Check out her 'Alien Alien' Slap Bass cover from when she was about 16.
Haruna, Drums. The 'Little BIG Engine'. a tiny lady, 1.45 meters tall, who is the power house that drives the band. I saw Lovebites live in London recently, and watched Haruna in awe. She plays fast and precisely throughout concerts that can be up to near 2 hours long.

The ladies really shine on stage. I have been to London twice recently to see them during their just concluded European tour, and am so glad I did. This was part of a 2-night concert series that was called "We are the Resurrection" (later released on a pair of DVDs called "Knockin' at Heaven's Gate 1 and 2." The resurrection reference is about the period of uncertainty during the time between their original bassist (and co-founder, along with the drummer Haruna) Miho leaving in August 2021, and the announcement of new bassist Fami in October 2022. Their future was uncertain at that point, but they came roaring back with a new album and tour in 2023. That resurrection of the band is what the coffins (and the concert title) represent. This was also Fami's first major concert as a member of LOVEBITES (and her first concert ever other than playing her high school and some crowdless livestreams), and you can see the overwhelming joy in her face throughout the whole show. Also, it has been pretty commonplace to see masks in Japan for quite awhile, dating back at least to the avian flu outbreak several years before COVID. It has just become part of the norm.
You've just had your 1st taste of who is considered to be the creme de le creme of metal. Every member is a virtuoso in either 1 or more instruments. Asami The One And Only Voice has been called the Mariah Carey of metal, but she's actually a bit better.
Miyako The Golden Touch and Midori The Crazy Shredder aka M&M, are 2 of the best guitarists out there, and together, they are incomparable.
Fami Shining Fingers is the newest member and is a 100%genuine prodigy bassist.

LOVEBITES is a five-member all-female, Japanese heavy metal band with deep musicianship (plus classical music/piano background). They transcend gender, genre, and geography, with some 60 songs in their discography. This was recorded on March 12th, 2023, after a two year hiatus for Covid-19 and the departure of founding bassist Miho (with new bassist Fami, then 20 years old!)
The five coffins have to do with it ("We Are The Resurrection", "Resurrection tour"). This is their (inofficial) anthem, played as the closing song.
Haruna, the "happy drummer", is 4'9".
This is the very first show after thie almost two year hiatus since the former bassist left the band, and the theme of the show is We The Resurrections. That is the coffins about. They are well and alive now and making a great world tour whole this summer.

The girls made their major label debut in 2017 (March 24) with "THE LOVEBITES EP".
On 11 June 2018, LOVEBITES won '🏆BEST NEW BAND' at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods 2018 awards organised by the British metal magazine METAL HAMMER.
On 4 August, LOVEBITES performed on the W.E.T stage at WACKEN OPEN AIR 2018, one of the world's largest annual metal festivals in Germany, with the 10,000 capacity venue almost full.

They've just finished the EU+UK leg of their world tour 2024, next is Korea, Tokyo at a bigger venue (probably 8000), and from Sep 6th until Sep 12th, they have 4 US dates, I'm not sure, which of these still have tickets, the 6th in Atlanta, GA, is ProgPower US 2024 festival, not a club concert.

Congratulations on discovering Lovebites. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. If they are not your thing, then you probably simply don’t like melodic metal, because they are the best at it.
They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist, after their founder and original bassist left the band for personal reasons. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later.
They did their first live performances in more than two years in summer of 2023, with their new bassist Fami. Their very first show was commemorated on the DVD “Knocking on Heaven’s Gate”. They have posted four performances from that DVD:

Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).
Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing.
In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."

Japanese female bands are making all the best Metal and Rock of the 21st century - Lovebites, Band-Maid, Nemophila, Hanabie....the list goes on and on!
Japanese metal is on an incredible roll, especially the women, who are kicking ass on an epic scale. Another great band you should check out is Bridear. Founded in 2011, they were in the second wave of all-female heavy-metal bands. They have the classic twin-lead attack and technical rhythm section. They have gone through some changes but have always kept their hard, heavy, technical sound. Their tiny bassist even does death growls!
They just released their new album on June 28 (Japan time), and it’s a banger. BURRN is calling it a masterpiece. The Metal Hammer review compares them to Lovebites.
