Great review Steve! Never fail to impress with your knowledge. Believe it or not, whenever I buy a new car I always try to search a review from you about it, like I did with my new Maxima; I bought it after seeing your review.
I hope you read this comment Steve because I think you'll get a kick out of this: would you do a special episode in which you review your favorite car growing up, or review an "iconic" sports car like the e30 m3?
For $17k from the competition, you're actually getting less car. Equip those models the same as a Versa SL, and you're up to well over $18k. I wanted a Kia Rio hatch for the price of a Versa SV. It was going to have ugly hubcaps and roll up windows. NO THANK YOU. I totally agree about engine noise. I rarely hear the motor and the only time it revs to 4,000 RPMs is if I'm pushing it harder than normal. Typically can't even hear the motor when cruising at any speed.
I see where Nissan is coming from but in today's U.S. market and with today's competition I don't think they have an excuse for this car. At least as low grade as it is. The interior looks like its from the 90's, the exterior is barf. Sure its for people who hate cars but Nissan being a big car maker I just don't get it. Hopefully the hatch version will come over cause that looks years better!!
In this economy and with gas prices soon to reach close to $5 per gallon by year: 2014 it only makes sense to purchase a relible small frugal car...... : )

@@parisg.7363 hell yeah
You hit the head of the nail Steve! This Versa looks right out of 1998!

would you rather drive a 2000 honda insight than this?
Very insightful review! Keep 'em coming!
Today 1 year with the Hyundai Accent
Tomorrow 5 years with the Nissan Versa
So is this still unsteady on the highway like the last generation?
I don't know about Steve, but I know I can't put this on my credit card.
"...looks like it was new in 1998." That's funny. Classic one Steve.
Nice Vid!
I'd rather get a used Civic or Mazda 3.
Very good car.
I'd rather buy a 2 or 3 year old used car then this
if you have $18k, buy something else, a really nice 2008-10 used car may be?

this seems ok standing alone but its a bit of a joke compared to the new kia rio and hyundai accent
nissan versa's offer stick shifts
yes.
Would take this over a Toyota any day.
The precedent version was so much better looking ! The inside looks like a 1993 Toyota Tercel. Everything looks cheap !
Small ass tires somewhat bigger body......eww
