Let me know if you've ever trained any Sanda!
I have and still am its been 4 months since I have started
We would only play with Sanda Rules in our free time at the gyms, but never formaly
I did for a couple of years. My teacher was a judge from Chengdu (one of the guys in the grey jackets and yellow ties). I miss practicing Sanda. This and one of your other videos, really makes me want to practice my side kicks again, and get them higher. Good stuff as always my man.
I trained it for 12 years and teach it now. How my gym teaches it had been heavily influenced by the competition available for our students, which is typically Muay Thai, so there's less emphasis on non MT-legal throws. My "lineage" (lol) is Jason Yee to Marvin Perry and Josh Bartholomew.
You should look into Liu Hailong of Sanda. He is known as the King of Sanda. The muay thai crusher. do a highlight on him bro. side note, Liu Hailong is also a buk sing choy lee fut stylist as well. I met him in 2001 when i went to china.

Hey that's what they called Manson "Master Blaster" Gibson
They called him "The Thai Slayer" because he won multiple Muay Thai competitions with his kung fu
Damn dude you have been killing it lately!
Glad you're seeing me in the feed. Sometimes I feel like RUclips isn't recommending me to audiences. Always breaks my heart, but keep leaving comments please so I have confirmation RUclips is showing my stuff to people.
@@FightCommentary 100% brother will do
I strongly agree!
Every striking style should spar with kickboxing rules. The spacing, timing, and focus are too important not to. People get too wrapped up in style instead of the fundamentals of combat.
Loved that Bruce Lee esque sidekick towards the end of the 3rd wing chun match lol
Just use the word "esque" in the future, so "Bruce Lee-esque" The A word should be okay for RUclips but always try to find non-swear words. Sorry I sound like an elementary school teacher, but we all know how much RUclips has changed these past ten years when it comes to what's allowed and what's not.
@FightCommentary thats fair. It's a shame, becomes censorship of my culture after a certain point. By not censoring certain words, RUclips is defacto discriminating against people who speak AAVE.
EXACTLY. I totally agree with you. I fought all these rules for a while, but eventually when I started behaving, the channel started going back up again, so the power of capitalism is often the most powerful way to control people. Because you force them to think they want it too. It's different than censorship in an authoritarian country because people know it's just the way no matter what. When you tie economic gains to something, you force the mind to think you want it. Thanks again for understanding. The future can be a little worrisome if society keeps going down this direction.

I've observed 4 archetypes in high level sanda competition
- point scorers. Very fast and clean. Look to land clearly enough to take a score and then get out. A lot of lighter Chinese fighters take this approach
- counter fighters. Are sticky and can convert any offense into a throw
- damagers. A sanda fight is at most 3 2min rounds, so you have to hit hard and be able chase an evader down. Caucasus fighters frequently fight this way
- bulldozers. Run at you with heavy damage but ultimately looking to land throws offensively. Iran in particular and other middle eastern countries feature stockier fighters that are really strong and can lock you up into a throw or pushout
By the square stance and hand podition I say Kyokushin. Shoyokan, the most popular form of Karate, has a wide stance and the footwork is different because of that. Shotokan footwork is more like olympic fencing, in and out and a lot of intercepting and mostly a couter attack style, while kyokushin is more square stance , more static and going forward as oposed to most karate styles
Karate uppercuts are called Ura-Zuki
In karate, the uppercut is called "age tsuki"
Thank you!
In Shaolin Kempo they do a punch straight up under the chin arm fully extended not with the elbow bent like the western boxing uppercut. I forget what they call it but that is what I was taught. Great way to dislocate the jaw.
Or shita tsuki, if you target the body, I believe
Not particularly. The term age-zuki can refer to any rising punch, most commonly with a straight fist (seiken), not an inverted fist (uraken) as with an uppercut.
This is to say terminology is far less codified than people make out. I've heard an uppercut being refered to as age-ura-zuki, age-zuki, ura-zuki, and shita-zuki.
@@leondarley2811 at least that's how it's called in my school, and shita tsuki is a sort of body uppercut
Can you find some stuff on good Taekwondo? It can be in kickboxing or MMA, I just want something to study
I'm a tkd guy too. Just think of combat as combat and take everything that's useful. That's what's helped me the most.
Hi Jerry, Is there any good video of Sanda (Supposed Chinese MMA) vs Sambo (USSR's MMA)?
THAT WOULD BE EPIC!!
10:30 That move reminds me of the video of Kevin Lee's cross-over with Stephen Wonder Boy Thompsons.
12:32 It's almost like a 'Bruce Lee sidekick'. WC indeed has sidekick but it is not as aggressive as other styles, it is in the '尋橋kata'
Next we need to see the Dim Mak.
After watching Buakaw Por Pramuk the White Lotis from Thailand, this seems to me like chuld play!
Do you know Buakaw and Sanchai??
Yep. We have two buakaw videos on here.
@@FightCommentary hey man, i cannot find it… cpuld you send me

The Wing Chun guy used their reach advantage well against Sanda guy.
Looks like wingchun did better vs. sanda than muaythai and karate. If karate does some more of it's basics like Andy Hug, it would have a better chance. Good video.Tje Rissian Wingchun is making a name for itself.
ruclips.net/video/4XoqO9Darpg/видео.html The match between two greatest Sanda pros in Chinese history at this stage.
As a karate and TKD black belt, most Karate is useless, so that puts karate at a disadvantage ;)
Can’t compare properly really as MT no elbows or clinching so it’s not MT anymore. MT destroys all these standup arts
Sanda consistently gives muay thai fighters a hard time
Karate guy is an embarrassment. He so scared to take a few hits before he can dish out his own punishment. Weak mind, body and spirit. Absolute shame to Karate.
