I've never done that trick with the rag to pull the axle blocks into the adjuster bolts. No more palm thrusting for me making my day approximately 20% better
Yeah mate it just pulls everything together before you tighten the axle. Glad you're day is 20% better 😂🤣😂

Thanks mate appreciate the feedback .
Very educational. Thanks
Thanks mate appreciate the feedback 👍
Idk if anyone will answer this but bought a used bike and went to tighten the chain however the lines in the swing arm are different number on one side I have 9 and the other has 11. The chain has a little side to side play is this bad or should I try to get it better ?
I have an aftermarket chain on my xr100 when I have it under 2 inch of slack or 3 fingers. I have no free play. My chain needs to be pretty loose to have a good amount of free play?
Very well explained
Thanks bro!
How do I start over with block adjusters should I screw them all the way in and then start backing them off or what cause him sure they been adjusted wrong and I'd like to get them back the same on each side I've got sdg speed mini 107
What if you don't have a torque wrench like I have the bare minimum for tools and I need to tighten my chain a little bit
Great info!
Just Sub'd
Thanks mate 👍
How does that flash adjust work when we all have different size finger
Great video! I keep having problems with my chain making a clicking noise while giving it throttle while turning. Tried doing all these steps and shill having problems with it any tips?
helpful video thankyou
Growing up I have always sat on my bike and checked adjustment on chain, always 1 1/4-1 .5 inches of travel up and down on bottom section of chain, now everyone says get back tire off of ground and put 3 fingers under top section of chain, well just so you know it's the same either way, you can check it yourself, take back tire off ground and put 3 fingers under top of chain and then sit on bike and lift the bottom part, it will have the 1 1/4-1 .5 inches
Thank You.
G'day mate. Cheers from Brazil
G'day mate thanks for watching.
Would matter if you measured how loose it is when it’s on the stand compared to when it’s on the floor ?
thank a lot!
does putting in really far in back makes the bike handle better?
Nice garage brotha!
What if my chain doesn’t tighten and loosens when you pull the wheel back after the chain tensioner was loose and all that?
I was dyin to see it out on the track at the end
I have an issue on my Honda 450r where the chain at the front sprocket is rubbing on the side of the case. The seller said it was a new chain. Could it be wrong size chain?
How do you take the pin out of the bolt on tire
Hi
Dose bike need be in 1st gear
Test chain slack or in N ?
Try look on youtube dont say
Thanks
This is important, I was a few miles out and chain came off and got cought in my front sprocket. Glad the cover was plastic because it moved and game it room to go somewhere and not make a hole. Now it's a little wiggly and if olave but its barely noticeable
Yeah it can coarse some damage thanks for the feedback.
oh dude same same thing happened to me coming down a small drop at end of trail locked up back wheel doing 50 chain got caught between front and rear sprocket. i was not fortunate enough to get it back on my chain was all bent and almost snapped. had to ditch bike and walk back 3 k to my truck..... it was sooo hot out too. this just happened this past weekend. Just put new sprockets new chain even new axle bolt all sprocket bolts were cheered off replaced those too i was about to go ride again and figure i need to watch a proper video on chain slack lmao before i screw myself again. Thanks again Broken Sprocket Ron From canada. ill try to post the pictures of the damage lol
Thank you.🙏🙏🙏
Question I do this everytime but my chain keeps coming loose while riding
Another great vid, thanks for that. I still prefer the old snail adjusters to the bolt/lock nut setups, so easy.
Thanks mate yeah not as common now days.
Showing bike on stand and wheel able
to spin is a good feature of this video, would
like to know the actual measurement of what
3 fingers is though..
It’s interesting most road and dirt bikes have block adjusters like shown, and all of my previous bikes have, but my current dirt bike (DRZ400) has snail adjusters, ie eccentric cam adjusters with preset dimples for the pins on the swingarm to engage with. Some people don’t like them, but they work really well and it’s super easy to get the correct alignment spot on. Thinking about it, we don’t need the infinite adjustability of threads when chains have ~10mm tension range, so I’m surprised snail adjusters aren’t more common.
Good point.
I also have a drz and I'm trying to do this project lmao
What Are those "Balck & Yellow" frame protector right above foot peg called?
Frame protectors
Wow !!!!! Perfect video
Thanks mate appreciate the feedback 😉👍
Just a elementary task.
do i gotta lossen the axle
Where can I get that blue chain?
Hey matey copied your exact procedure, 3 finger gap with bike on stand, now once the chain is all set… and you sit on bike, it tensions the chain, is it normal for the Chain to be tight once compressed etc or does it need to be sort of loose once compressed ? Cheers mate
Hey buddy thank you for putting in the time to show me how to tighten up my chain!!!!...
I HAVE TO ASK YOU HOW DID YOU GET A BLUE CHAIN????.... PLEASE ANSWER BACK TY LOTZ
Does it matter which side u adjust first?
Does this work for minibikes too?
Nice one mate very thorough 😎
Thanks mate...
@@BrokenSprocket I use the 3 finger technique it's spot on 👌
Never fails and its fast and easy..
You are talking about dirt bikes aren't you lol....
...and stuff..... 😅
When I use the back brake my chain gets loose
Here after I was down in a valley and my chain came off glad I got it back on I would have been screwed 😂
Haha see you have to se extra powerful BLUE chains in Australia too.. Aren't they amazing? Did yours come with extra 2 hp?
Extra 3hp in Australia.
How do you know where to put your three fingers on the swing arm for the chain slack measurement? If you were to go closer to the drive shaft three fingers wouldn't fit. If you were to go closer to the rear sprocket you could probably get 5 fingers in. Are you using the chain guide on the swinger arm as your reference point? Thanks!
you put your fingers right at the end of the black plastic chain guide on the top of the swingarm he actually mentions that in the video just re watch it and pay attention
P-BIZ , the tension is checked halfway between the front and rear sprockets. Which is prolly where the chain guide is. On some bikes there's a sticker as reference.
Does this work on my dog?
hey man. what happens if that 10mm bolt will not budge, so much so that the wrench is slipping off. mine is an 04 rmz250 and i'm not sure it;s ever been adjusted. New chain so i want to get it adjusted right. thanks!
Sounds like you need to replace the bolts with new ones. Try to get them out using vice grips and replace them with new bolts 🔩
@@BrokenSprocket thanks man. Yeah I snapped both off. Now I have to figure that out. Lol
How can I do this without a bike stand
"remember, 3 fingers. We're not talking about your sister here"
Great video, Well explained. But in the owner manual, it's written to measure the tension with the wheel on the ground. Not on a stand. At least in my french manual. Maybe someone can look into his one.
Is this a normal chain or a oring chain ?
if the chain is worn extended can i cut it shorter for
couple links?
No buy a new chain and sprockets
When you get the chain 3 finger tight where you want it and when you sit on it and chain is really tight, is that normal or no??? Thanks!
Normal
Does this work for most bikes? I’ve got a KX85 with a super loose chain that I’m about to tighten based off this video
Owners manual will tell you measurements, my kx450f states between 52-58mm of slack
So I adjusted my chain to spec took it out and rode it for a while come back after my moto and my chain is so tight it was nuts I could barley even push it up the ramp to load up the chain was so tight do you know why this might be happening. and yes my adjuster blocks went out of wack to during the ride
Sounds like Axel is not tight enough.
@@BrokenSprocket I went ahead and gave my self a little more slack and re adjusted everything it’s 4 fingers on the stand and when I sit on the bike it’s perfect 3 fingers.. eveything seems straight I measured the distance of Axel blocks instead of trusting my hash marks this time. I am a little over on regular slack for this bike but when I sit on the bike it good and on stand it seems looser but not crazy loose or enough to touch anything .. haven’t rode it again yet sense re adjusting but just hoping it works out good.
