I just made the Sugar Cookie body scrub this morning and used it in the shower today. OMG. It is amazing. You don't need much to get your whole body. I only needed about a tablespoon. What I did was mixed up 1 1/2 cups of sugar, 3/4 cup of coconut oil, and then 1 tablespoon of pure vanilla extract (I did not have vanilla infused coconut oil on hand). This made the perfect amount to fit into my 12 ounce jar! Then, when I was about to hop in the shower, I scooped a spoonful out of the jar. Little by little, I would take some off the spoon and scrub it in. Like I said before, a little gets you through! You can feel it working in because the sugar and coconut oil dissolves into your skin as you scrub and rub! Afterwards, my skin felt super, super soft and smooth! Thank you Christine for the wonderful DIY! Love your videos, and I am so glad I came across your channel as I am researching Natural Skincare due to coming across your videos!
Very cute... and makes for a great gift! I've been making this for years and I absolutely love it. But I add just a teaspoon of organic raw honey which has antiseptic, anti-fungal properties as well - it also works as a little extra preservative.
actually did this right now and it WORKS! omg girl thanks for this golden advice my skin is so soft now and its all natural, never gonna buy scrubs anymore.. it's a hard to wash it off but its really worth it!
i made this a few days ago with the monoi vanilla oil...I cant get enough of it, I'm so happy I tried this! I want to make it as gifts for my friends and family, cant rave about it enough, thanks for the video!
I will try your ingredients.. I actually made one today with brown sugar, regular sugar, coconut oil, vanilla and almond extracts its smells so good n my skin feels amazing.. can't wait to make your cookie scrub
Thank you so much! I just tried this, I had dry hands and legs since I was a child and no matter how much bodylotion I used they always got dry again. It's amazing! My legs and hands get so soft when I use your body scrub!
I always wanted to make a home-based scrub. This scrub is a great idea. I just used a small variation. I added 1/2 portion of sesame oil. It's extremely hydrating. And the massage rejuvenates the skin. But a disclaimer, if one has an allergy to sesame or coconut oil, please consult your doctor before trying it out
i just made this with a cup of white sugar 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil and 1 teaspoon of vanilla (or more if you like) i love it. plus, it tastes good ;)
I love the table you worked on today. It was outside and you could hear the amazing birds chirping. Sounds Beautiful! Love it and cant wait to try to scrub.
i've been doing something like this for bout a year now. is't great because you can add all kids of stuff in your scrub - cocoa and shea butter, oils, cacao powder, cinnamon powder, essential oils, lemon and orange peel, ground coffe beans or even rice or azuki beans. i love diy! btw, your hair colour is just perfect now, much better than before with dark undercolor. xoxo
Ah just another reason why coconut oil is so awesome! Since coconut oil is a stable oil it's not prone to going rancid like many other carrier oils, typically extra virgin coconut oil can last years. However if another oil is used, it's a good idea to add vitamin E, to keep the oils from oxidizing. :)
I love doing these. I make one with lavender essential oil and lavender buds, sugar, and any carrier oil I have. It's good for when you're tired and want a good nights sleeps. And it smells divine!
this is was the best. And I only did the sugar and oil, so I can't wait to get some essential oils to personalize it. I had to use a bit more sugar, and I live in NY, so I have to warm up before using, which is kind of annoying, but its worth it, because I love it and it's only been a few days, lol !! I was already use coconut oil as a moisturizer, and been meaning to make my own exfoliating scrub and this is perfect. My husband just really got some really bad razor bumps under his chin, kneck area, and he just used it this morning and he love it too. So thank you for posting!! I just have to find a better jar for mine, like the one you have.
maritza211 I know you left your comment month ago, but I have to ask, does the scrub go out of date? Since you've personally tried it do you make a lot in advance and store it away so you can use it more than once too? If so, how long does it last without going bad and where/how do you store it? :)x
Nicole Vergara It lasts as long as the coconut oil lasts. Its only sugar and coconut oil, so its fine to keep in your bathroom or cabinet. Coconut oil shelf life is about 18 months. But I only make one small jar at a time and I use it 1-2x a week till its gone, so I don't have to worry about it going bad.
Thank you for the easiest recipe in the world. I will use this scrub weekly as exfoliation is definitely a key and my mother will be excited for this scrub as she's always had calluses on her feet!
you're right about the money savinng part, the same size jar that you made probably would be $30 retail and still have preservatives in it....it takes only minutes to make you own and you can have exactly what you want in your scrubs, i make mine with brown sugar olive oil and peppermint oil and it's great ...the smell is fantastic and my skin feels baby soft...
We did this and it worked AWESOME! Please try this at home if you have Coconut oil and sugar AT LEAST, and then we even Substituted some stuff in to make the scrub smell sooooooo good
Oh wow!! u look gorgeous! not sure if it's the neutral clothes or the hair. probably both. It's always fresh to switch things up and here you've done just that. I love your hair with the volume & curl too. I love gradual change & improving ourselves and you are an inspiration for that.
Im really impressed with your informative videos. The thing that catches my attention and keeps it is that you come across very intelligent and believable. It isn't "cookie cutter" or too girly girl. Even with the soft, feminine background, you still come across as mature and your presentations are very well done. Thank you for all of your great ideas. Im a new and continuing fan.
I have to say I am so loving the natural hair! You look so beautiful like this! I am going to look into making these. What a great idea for gifts! I know so many people who should use them and don't! What a great way to get them to try one! Thanks so much I really do enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing....
I buy Monoi oil online at Vitacost but you could definitely use vanilla essential oil or even a vanilla bean placed in the scrub would make a yummy infusion. :)
i add cinnamon and vanilla sticks to it 1 of each gave a beautiful aroma to scrub. thanks. If i keep it at refrigerator it becomes balmy (i don't know if it's a word :balmy , but..) then easier to use at shower. Thanks for the recipe
I Love these DIY beauty videos! My best friend is vegetarian, and is very much into all natural beauty products. She is getting married soon, so I think I'm going to make this, as well as the massage bars and lip balms that you have shown, for her!
Shea butter!!!! Just plain pure shea butter, I buy the Shea Natural brand online at Vitacost, it's whipped and easier to use. It's amazing for the lips! :)

Christine, I love sugar scrubs!!! In fact I made peppermint sugar scrub for gifts this past Christmas...it was a hit!!! I used natural raw Hawaiian sugar mixed with coconut oil,a bit of olive oil and finished with a few drops of peppermint oil. It smelled so invigorating!!! I was not able to find a spoon or scoop but I will now have to look at walmart as you suggested. I agree that it keep it more sanitary and also makes a cute presentation. BTW, you looks so stunning in this video!!! ·

Great video... I can't wait to give this a try. You look very pretty. Love your eye look. Are you wearing the bare minerals quad you talked about in a previous video?
If I just have plain coconut oil, could I use vanilla extract to give it the vanilla scent? Love, love, love your videos! Thank you for all the work you put in for us!
Love watching all your DIY videos. I will def have to use another carrier oil as the coconut oil doesn't stay liquidy here. Christine, how do you think adding a little coco powder to it would do. Sort of giving it that chocolate chip cookie smell? Do you think that would mix in well? Have you tried that? xxoxoxo
Love this and you!! You could also add comfrey root to the oil for a couple weeks before you make this. Comfrey has amazing healing properties and it will infuse into the oil. Healing sugar cookie scrub!
Hi Christine, thank you for the great videos. I just purchased all my oils the other day on vitacost thanks to you! Such a wonderful site, I can't wait to try the oil cleansing method!
