Ae Forest Red Route (new final descent) - Over The Hill Mountain Biking

- They recently bulldozed the old final descent at Ae Forest trail centre and I figured I'd check out the new descent. My verdict is that it's fun to ride but a bit 'bike parky'! The old trail was more natural. However, as the rest of the trails are fairly natural and great fun I will overlook this ;) I forgot to mention in the video that next to the car park is a cafe, bike shop and bike wash. Plus there is an uplift service at weekends for those who want to ride the downhill courses.

They have ruined the last section of the omega man...used to be a red with black options.... Now it's a full on blue.....
Yes I agree. I preferred the old descent. Seems too sanitised now

Agree. I didn't ride the old. But this is the worst built trail I've ridden in years. That berm transition is gonna claim a lot of people. Boring trail but fast and badly built is my verdict
@@adamsaunders5245 yes it's built similarly to the lower newer section of Hidden Valley Upper at Newcastleton but on a bigger scale. It works well at Newcastleton, but not here

@@overthehillmountainbiking I went and rode it a few weeks ago, it's not actually that bad, couple of fun drops and it's already getting cut up nicely with braking bumps. Ae red is one of the better seven stanes trails imo. Shame some sections still closed nearly 2 years later..
@@ap6584 Yeah it was still very new and didn't have a lot of traction at the time. I'm sure it would ride better now. I love Ae forest trail centre, but haven't been since that ride. Can't believe tose two sections are still closed
From what ive seen that corner where you said you got distracted is more a case the corner is just lethal. Someone is going to get hurt here. Worst built transition from berm to berm with no support. Dunno who built this but they want dragging back to sort it out.
You may be right. Maybe it wasn't the distraction that made me stuff it up. Unfortunately only time and accidents will tell
That trail doesn't look great, especially that corner. Think they need to go to Tarland to see how it should be done.

Yeah, you're right. Ae is a great place. Not ridden this yet so I shouldn't judge!
