  • Jason Christie has 10 FLW wins and 8 Bassmaster wins. He is a 10 time Bassmaster Classic Qualifier and the 2022 Bassmaster Classic Champion. Christie has accumulated an incredible 4 million dollars in winnings, making him one of the most feared names in professional bass fishing. But what scares him? That question, as well as many other awkwardly honest questions are answered on this week’s Mercer Podcast.
    Please help me thank Jason Christie for doing this week’s show by following his RUclips channel youtube.com/@Christiefishing?...

      That whole grow the sport thing is SO STUPID. You want to grow the sport?!? Grow it where?!? There aren't any more lake being built. There's a finite amount of water out there. There's no room to grow the sport unless we're gunna start building more lakes and have more places to fish

    I was talking with my dad who I fish team derby’s with about how livescope has changed things and he said something that I’ve never thought of. He said RUclips (social media in general) has changed bass fishing more than anything else in the history of the sport. You can go from not having any idea of how to catch a bass to pretty proficient in fishing quicker than you ever have before. You don’t need a mentor or father figure to teach you how to do something all the info you need to be a stick is out there online at the push of a button. Way easier for kids to learn now than ever before.

    Let Jason know that in Lake Erie the smallies don't like snakes either. In early summer there is a snake pattern. Find the snakes close to the islands you will find big smallies. The key is to make the snake go under water. Then you will see what happens lol. Also thanks for great show every week Dave. Always look forward to Wednesday!!

    The real concern with ffs is not in bass fishing. Its in crappie, walleye fishing. Fish that people harvest. On a local lake its already has a big impact on the crappie population, this according to the DNR. Theres a guy locally who posts on a crappie fb page, he fishes almost everyday and limits it out most of the time. 15 crappie a day. Lets say he limits out 15 days a month. 15 fish a day. Multiply that over a year and thats just one guy. I dont believe its gonna hurt bass fishing in the long run but i believe its gonna devestat the crappie fisheries

    What about these old anglers that don't fish anymore but are still making bank off sponsors? Does that exist does it matter? Is that taking up a large part of the pie?

    Gentlemen all that most true lovers of the sport, like myself and many younger anglers who aspire to fish for a living want, is for standards to be set that will not be moved so that we know what to practice and get better at so as to perfect our craft. It’s simply not logical to expect any professional, regardless of your profession, to not know exactly what skills or tools you need to be proficient with?

      @factsoffishing  5 месяцев назад

      Hey Jesse, I hear what you are saying. However that’s never the case. From day one the sport has kept evolving. It’s not always technology some times it’s techniques but it’s always going to evolve.

    FFS is no different than when a flasher came out. There are some that will embrace it, learn it and excel at it. No differently than Frittz using a flasher to find fish to deep crank back in the day. Some will excel, some will not. Just a tool as a flasher was when it came out. Then add whatever the fish learn even though they are supposedly dumb.... but an Arig is not the end all be all many thought it would be. Its simply not as productive as it once was.
