That whole grow the sport thing is SO STUPID. You want to grow the sport?!? Grow it where?!? There aren't any more lake being built. There's a finite amount of water out there. There's no room to grow the sport unless we're gunna start building more lakes and have more places to fish
I was talking with my dad who I fish team derby’s with about how livescope has changed things and he said something that I’ve never thought of. He said RUclips (social media in general) has changed bass fishing more than anything else in the history of the sport. You can go from not having any idea of how to catch a bass to pretty proficient in fishing quicker than you ever have before. You don’t need a mentor or father figure to teach you how to do something all the info you need to be a stick is out there online at the push of a button. Way easier for kids to learn now than ever before.
Now that's a guy ya just wanna hang out with, have a couple beers, and go reel some in. Great chat with a really good person. Thanks for bringing that to us, Dave.
Ya did it again Mercer!!!! Love love love, Christie. One of my favorite pros. He reinstates all is not lost and things are pretty darn good. Just does his thing!
Sponsorship 101 is a must do podcast for you Mercer!! Especially from the sponsors side, I’ve heard the standard response from the anglers side a ton but I can’t think of when/if I heard it from the other side
It would be interesting to see an Elite event that was no electronics. Map reading, weather patterns, wind direction, true skill would show through. As always another get show, with fantastic representation of the who’s who.
Great show Dave, Jason is one of the best. I agree with Jason on the FFS, it’s here to stay so you might as well embrace it. Dave you & Jason are not alone on the fear of snakes, me too my friend.
Love this content. Met with Jason shortly after THE CLASSIC on a practice day at the St Lawrence. He's a real open guy. We exchanged conversation, He parked the rig under trees and worked on tackle 100 feet from my campsite. Sooo cool.
Great show again Dave!!! Thanks for all the work you put into your podcast and having the great guests and the honesty y’all let out. Jason was incredible and the snake 🐍 stuff was hysterical. Thanks for making hump day great!!
I gained a new respect for JC after hearing him talk about his sponsors. He said “seeing them happy was the best part of his Classic win”. Good Dude. Hope he wins again. Good show Dave!
Your no directions podcasts are the best. Letting your guests take off on any tangents makes for a fun & informative show. Certainly do need a Sponsors 101 podcast!
No babe , the snake 🐍 is over here😂😂😂you had me rolling!! I remember the Zona snake show and Christie definitely jumped out of his skin😂 would’ve loved to hear all that was said when that took place! Keep up the great podcasts 🎣🎣
Awesome show! Thank you 🙏 one of my all time favorite anglers. The world would be a better place if more pro anglers were also good role models like BMP and JC
You mentioned Hannon's snake lure saw a video on Y/T dude was fishing a stick bait caught one it had a snake sticking out of it's throat. Good show Dave Christie posts on Wednesday too so I'm head there catch you next week.👍👍👍👍👍
Jason came along after I stopped fishing pro level events so I’ve never met him. He is a really great interview and has a good UTube channel. I don’t ever remember a Classic that Site Fishing came into play? That could really mess with Randy’s doomsday predictions about ever tournament going forward being won with ffs, lol.
Being in the boat with Jason several times…when he was smashing them and when he was struggling. He has the same demeanor either way…straight up steely focused on every cast and a first class Pro. I can confirm his feeling about snakes…seen it first hand…lol. Also never seen anyone build a spinner bait…on-the-fly…faster than he can.
Let Jason know that in Lake Erie the smallies don't like snakes either. In early summer there is a snake pattern. Find the snakes close to the islands you will find big smallies. The key is to make the snake go under water. Then you will see what happens lol. Also thanks for great show every week Dave. Always look forward to Wednesday!!
Took me until the 1:24:00 mark to see how special this episode was......I fish out of a jon boat and this dude win Classics, but we both wish we had a better positive outlook. I think that's everything in this sport.
@@factsoffishing Glad I started watching your show, it's made me realize Bass fishing is the greatest professional sport, and the competitors are amazing folks....so thank you, and hope to say the same thing in person one day.
Dave, you’re spot on about fans not wanting to hear all the negativity. Some of the BASS folks throwing venom at MLF and Boyd straying so far from the original Cups that were awesome to watch. The fun is kinda fizzling.
There's a scene from "The Office" where Dwight says to Ryan, "Sales will be easier when this whole internet phase is over." I think of that every time someone says that FFS is a phase or fish will adapt to it.
Never in my life would I have thought that the one thing Jason Christie and I have in common is that my mother was also bit by a snake when she was a child, which turned into a life long fear of snakes, and she passed that on to me 🤣 Great podcast as usual!
The reason you cant advance in other sports in as little as one year is because theyre regulated to the point only your talent/performance allows you to advance. Now in bass fishing with FFS anglers with no foundation in the sport can compete with tour veterans and beat them consistently with FFS. People can deny this but its fact. From Florida to Canada 95% of tournaments are dominated with FFS. This will and has forever changed to sport no matter a persons opinion about it..
I'm not judging him though, I cry every time I watch someone win a tournament, especially the classic. I'm going to need to take stock in Kleenex whenever Swindle and Hackney win there classics.
Dave, I would love to help ya figure out how to get some of us fans on the show that might work in the industry or maybe fishing the lower levels. Heck just to chit chat with ya about the fishing world in general.
Not sure what you mean about helping me get fans on the show? Unfortunately there is only so much time in each episode so it’s tough to include more folks than the current guests. As much as I would love to include more folks it’s not that simple
Dave your lucky to get the fisherman that taught me a lot of juice since I retired, I’m 69 yrs old and got a knee replacement and started watching u tube and found Jason Christie. I thought I knew a lot, but boy was I wrong! LOL I absolutely love my spinnerbait more than I love my ex wife, well that didn’t sound right, but I taught myself how to slow roll it right of the bottom and caught the silly out of them. And a single Colorado right under the surface shallow over big rocks dang man that’s as good as my buzz bait! Next time get him to talk about technique with his frog please? I still have to check my hooks on that dang frog every time I loose one, to see if I got hooks one it! LMAO!!! Keep the faith! And remember Jesus was a hell of a fisherman too!!!👍🥸🙏
I have been trying to watch the MLF on Toledo. It is unwatchable. FFS is ruining the spectator aspect of the sport. It is miserable. The only good part of yesterday was when Ott caught some on the bank with a buzzbait.
@@factsoffishing Correct, it doesnt. Jason is a great guy! The bad guy was the one who used a rod to prank Jason that day! I'm shocked he didn't exit the boat, stage left! 🤣

The snake pattern is a thing on the Great Lakes. Happens in late spring early summer. Big smallies will follow them for some reason.
