I have that same model, even same color, low mileage (62K), all stock except for Nardi steering wheel. I've had it almost 3 years and think it was always garaged - no rust, no fluid leaks, none of the problems you have (except cupholders). Absolutely love this car! Had a 69 Triumph Spitfire 50 years ago, the Miata is just as much fun but with twice the power and relabiliy. Have fun!
I’ve never seen anyone moan about the changing gear experience before. I’m also baffled as to why nearly every review from across the pond on RUclips is always with the roof on. I only put my roof up if it’s banging down with rain. The heater is good enough to make your shoes feel like they’re melting. You always have more fun with your top off lol.
I also have a 2000 LS since day one with skirts, and less than 90k mileage. All stock except KNN filter and Racing Beat twin exhaust . It runs perfect even @ 90, no vibration. I never worry about the cup holder, all I care is how good the car runs, that’s all .
Great video! Lol Gained a new subscriber. Literally laughed when you talked about how oem appearance stuff is expensive on the miata, it’s honestly true.
My 2001 had a vibration like the one you describe, and it turned out the driveshaft u-joint was bad. I had to replace the whole driveshaft because you can't replace just the u-joint. A new exhaust and maybe a new rubber shift boot on the trans tunnel and all your smell and noise issues should be gone. Great looking car!
@@TheDon.87 Go under to twist and jiggle the driveshaft by hand to check for excessive play. As mine got worse, it made a strange squeak-squeak sound most noticeable when backing up.
Make sure you don’t delete the resonator in the mid pipe. I did that on my first NB. It created a horrible droning sound. I have come to the conclusion that the way to make that little engine sound good is put in a cold air induction system. It makes it gurgle and even roar a little. Makes it sound more like engine with more cylinders than any of the mufflers. It is easy to test to see if you like the sound.
The Miata MX5 was/is designed as a driver's car, not a dining car. If you have a need to eat and drink while traveling to your destination, take a train. The cupholders were designed in only due to the obsessive need to constantly have a mega-drink available.
If your shifter and boot get hot really quick it might be your gasket under then boot, I bought my 2001 nb and it got hot really quick and turns out my gasket was torn
I have the same thing with the car vibrating at 60mph, still stock suspension but aftermarket wheels. either it is the wheel balance or the tyres I think.
@@usererrorpleasetryagain5276 Thanks for the confirmation. I am planning on changing the wheels and tyres and with it do an alignment. That should get rid of it. :)
@@jezuzworld4673 thank you for replying , its not too aggressive, also might be because its on cheap coilovers, the guy I bought it from modded it some but he left the engine stock. I'm going to look into some OEM Springs so I can get the suspension back to stock

There werd smell in the car means you need a new shifter boot rubber under cover.. they go bad very easily I need to change my own.
Everyone talks about the cup holder issues with these, quite honestly if that's considered one of the major flaws it's a very good car.

vibrations could be you need new bearings, jack it up, spin the wheel in neutral and hold the hub... if it vibrates, its that :)

How do you check to see if the u joint is bad?

After lowering it, did you get the tracking done? Would explain the wobble tbh lowering does adjust placements so would look into that if I were you👍
Thanks for the advice!
Yep ima go buy this Miata tmrw thanks for making realize it’s the right move can’t wait
How’s the car going?

If the shop didn't do a good job cleaning your wheel when applying sticky wheel weights they can fall off, especially if you drive aggressively.
Nice video man! I'm planning on getting an NB
love the channel man, your videos are hilarious and good quality. keep it up!
Dude, that's a nice ride. Got a pretty nice 96' myself.
4:46 feels 😃
Hard top sorts out the noise dude. You wouldn't believe how much quieter the hard top is
I definatley need to find one soon, just hard to find one in good condition for a good price
Delrin door bushings wouldn't hurt either plus there cheap too!!
Check Your tire pressure. I had that wobbles shakes on highway when my tires was overloaded with air.
I loved the video, thank you for your insight

It is normal to get hot, my boot gets warm as well. Define "hot" in your opinion.
The smells you talk about , maby a tiny leak in the heater matrix ?
I have a NB Miata 2001 but I can't drive it until I'm 16
Do you really notice the heavy weight of your wheels? Is there huge difference on driving experience between light and "heavy" wheels?

It's probably the balance. I had a similar experience
@@usererrorpleasetryagain5276 Thanks for the confirmation. I am planning on changing the wheels and tyres and with it do an alignment. That should get rid of it. :)
If it's not the wheels it's probably the driveshaft u-joint
Skids in the winter video?!
Maybe🤔
what rep wheels are those?
My 2001 Miata with 76000 miles have zero weird smells. I guess I’m lucky.
Just subbed
I'm 6'2 could I comfortably daily drive a miata?
with a seat foamectamy yes, im 6'4 and i just cut the bottom out of the foam on the seat to sit 1.5 inch lower, nb have more legroom too btw

How tall are you? :>
Im 6.3
6'1, about the max to sit comfortably in NB in my opinion.

Your steering wheel shouldn’t shake. Also your interior shouldn’t smell like coolant lol.
If my miata shakes at idle, do you think its bad motor mounts? 2001 nb owner
