Don't buy new window regulator!!!!! I had the same problem with my window and it was due to a missing clip. The cable gets stuck and won't let the window go down. All I did was run a Ziptie around the cable and tighten it where the clip goes. Super easy fix and will save some good money!
@@bocaj949 Had it happen on my 99, and both 01s. On my MSM I had a different issue in that both windows would roll down super slowly and sometimes get stuck. Greased the track and fixed that. Interestingly enough a friend of mine bought a MSM and had the exact same issue on his.
You might not need a new window regulator! My NB had a similar problem, and it ended up being a broken plastic clip that held the cable to the door. The cable was able to move enough to get caught under the window and stop it from moving down. If that's the case you can use a zip tie to hold the cable in position against the door.
@@sweetielea3194 the broken plastic clip is what was keeping the drivers window of my ‘99 NB from going down all the way. The old zip tie trick to hold the cable back solved the problem.
A few tips from a multiple NB owner; retrofit the NB1 light instead of going through the whole conversion and it is way cheaper and in my opinion looks better, the passenger window regulator is most likely good, there is a wire that comes loose from the door and gets caught on the track all you have to do is pop that door card off and ziptie the line out of the way, the Nardi wheel is factory in almost all NBs save for a few early 99s. I have a passenger NB2 tail light and several sets of NB1 headlights if you're interested.
That Nardi wheel is in fact factory, I put one in my NA. Something interesting - the earlier NBs have the Nardi logo on the airbag and nothing on the bottom of the wheel, and the later NBs have a Mazda logo on the airbag and the Nardi logo on the bottom of the wheel. What I did was order a later Nardi wheel and an earlier airbag and put them together, so now I have two Nardi logos on my wheel for sick street cred :D

Always remember to check the rest damage in the front half of those cars, NA rust inside out from the mid top section, and those rust from the front subframe into the shock Tower strut area
Good video and so different to how it would look if it was made in the UK, here it would start by talking about rust, before moving on to a section about possible corrosion, before finishing off by talking about the problems with trapped moisture causing rot in the chassis rails and rear sills, that's about it.
Gas door just needs some lubrication on the mech as it gets gunked up. Just get it open with non marring level of some sort, then around the hinge, clean and lubricate the mechanism. Fixed my 2003 NB I bought a few months ago like this.
About the color, 1. Dig into the bodywork. Make sure they didn't Bondo over rust or another surprise. There is nothing like having several square inches of filler nearly a half-inch thick popping off your car to make a car enthusiast feel like an instant chump. Besides, doing some real bodywork isn't terribly hard and another good process to learn. You could even consider replacing the rear quarter panel or other areas if there is too much damage to fix properly. Again, not terribly hard, and most sheet panels are not very expensive. 2. Repainted cars (not counting your salvage title) are often done to hide various damage(s) with cheap bodywork to sell a vehicle. The paint can be super cheap and improperly done which can lead to pealing and so on. Painting is another decent skill to pick up. 3. That feeling of satisfaction when the car is done and done right. Bragging rights that you did it all yourself...with pictures! Or videos in your case. ---Just my two cents.
If you end up wanting to make it look better via paint or wrap, I really hope you go with paint. I understand the appeal of wrap, people can try it at home, cheaper and easier-but it just never looks as good paint ever will. If you intend on keeping it pls go paint. Wrap will look like crap if the paint your covering with it is bad. Plus when you pull it off it will likely pull the paint with it 😅 Excited to see what you do with this car!!

NB Fuel smell could be from the tank filler hose in the back. Whether the hose is just weeping or the connection of teh hose to the fuel tank gets rusty and allows vapors to slip by. I had a good filler hose, but had rust on the connection to the tank. you can clean this up with some sandpaper and it got rid of fuel smell in the car, primarily after you fill up. Not sure if this is same as the NA.
The issue with the windows is probably just a plastic knob on the glass getting caught on the guide tube for the wire. If you take the door card and stick a mirror in your door you can see if that's what wrong. Took me about 30 minutes to fix the same issue on my car.

The windows on NBs get stuck all the time because a clip for the cable inside the door pops out and then the cable gets in the way of the window going down. I fixed this on 2 of my NBs with a zip tie or a new clip. Hope this helps Greg. Thank you for these frequent uploads 🥰

Good information. Looking forward to see your miata work.👍
With my nb the windows would not roll all the way down but it was plastic clips that had broken not the regulator. Some zips ties will fix it.
Looks like a bit of a nugget, eager to see how it evolves! For the cooling system, evaporust thermocure does wonders.
P.S. Some things I got:
*Stock NB wheels, sport ones are 16"
*Upper boot, the lower is the small one that mounts directly on the gearbox
*Seats seem like NA ones
🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧As always great video ✌️
I’m NA guy but it’s getting HARD to get a good NA these days ,
Luckily I have a amazing NA
Now looking at a second Miata !!!
Cos in the UK 🇬🇧 your car has to have a strict inspection each year
And everyone can look at the history
It’s getting difficult to get a NA ,NB
For $4K - €4.5 K they look good but when you look at the history,
Rust is a big problem,
So on to NC up to 2010 you can have a rust failure car!!!
Keep the good work, it is appreciated 👌
i've had that gap issue with the soft top, after you tighten the screws, you have to clamp them down both at the same time. Otherwise, the side that was popped in last will have a gap...the quirks..
Glad to see a new project, even if it is a NB.. Just sold our NA and was looking to get a NB as well. Now we can build together! Well, more like i can build mine while watching your videos. Not going NOS though, may try a supercharger. Or cams. Or stock. Or find a lotus Elise and pretend it's a miata.
Basic mod suggestion? Racing beat exhaust to match the intake. Got both on my NB2 and it sounds amazing!
I enjoy seeing your work. Cool video. I have a gear shift heater on my RX. At least no don't have an aquarium for a headlight.
You can just clean the window regulator sliders and it will be good as new! I have done it on a few mx5s.
The windows on NBs get stuck all the time because a clip for the cable inside the door pops out and then the cable gets in the way of the window going down. I fixed this on 2 of my NBs with a zip tie or a new clip. Hope this helps Greg. Thank you for these frequent uploads 🥰
Super Video! You can try Toyota COP's with Speeduino ECU, it's like MS but a little bit less Function, but the Best for Low Budget Project. ( I have also this in my Car , just with a 1.6 ). I'll be waiting the next Episode.
Greg, I just bought a car that is even slower than my 1.8 126hp NC. My two cars combined now have 6 cylinders and 156hp. Help.
Yes you have to feed it 1 qt of oil every other day as well as 10 gallons of fuel every 50 miles
Green/tan is my jam.
This is not the video I wanted but unfortunately it's the one I needed 😔
Ayy I bought my 99 last September with 146k (now 161k) for $2500 after it'd been totalled too. Besides maintenance, I think my favorite things I ever did to it were the NB2 white gauges and MSM muffler.
My 1996 base model was just stopping. No engine, all the lights went out and the car seemed immediately dead while going down an interstate at night.
Waited 5 minutes trying to decide what to do now.
Then I turn the key just in case.
Boom it starts.
This become an ongoing thing.
A master machinic suggested changing the Fuel Filter.
BOOM it became ok again.
How does a miata have no pop ups? IT'S NOT A MIATA. - 10:00
Jk
-A fellow NB and NA owner
No no you have a point
- NA owner
Is that a joke? Does he know the NB Miata lights don't move?
@@patricioc6883 Yes it is. Have you not seen the video at 10:00? He litteraly looks for the pop-ups as a joke ahaha
