Daniel, I can ONLY take people in sweatpants and socks seriously lol
People in suits are such jokes lol.
@sivakumar thevar unless they wear a nerdy T-shirt underneath 😏
his subs keep rising, so let's give props to the socks
Daniel floating clockwise around the screen while talking about floating in space is what I needed to end my day tonight
Strange, it's what I need to begin my day - that and Coffee! I suppose south-Asians (India?) end the day with Greene, and Canadian's wake up with him.
Magus Marquillin I’m in Hong Kong haha but India also ends its day with Daniel it’s true
It’s great to see Paolini being able to show he is not a one trick pony (or more accurate, a one trick dragon)
"He's just a joke."
Where are the souls who say this? Arioch needs them.
Send them to Sithis, brother.
Or Nightblood.
Paolini was one of my favorite authors as a late elementary/middle school kid, and The Inheritance Cycle is still DEEPLY nostalgic for me. I don't often read sci-fi nearly as much as fantasy, but I'm really excited to see what this story holds!
Screw the people who wants you to be more serious. Stay wack bro
Personally I’ve always found sweatpants tucked into socks to be rather elegant. But maybe that’s just the extended period of minimal social interaction talking...
Dude, that's like the embodiment of elegance
"Wind howled through the night, carrying a scent that would change the world." That iconic first line has stuck with me and I will always have every book that man writes. Love Inheritance. I've pre-ordered TSIASOS. Can't wait.
I approve the socks. Please continue.
I pre-ordered this book just for the beautiful cover art. Hope the story is great too!
Yes that art cover is so so gorgeous.
It is gorgeous I'm pretty excited to have it on my shelf
Like whoever designed it is so talented, like fr how is such a beautiful cover in existence
Did you end up reading the book? I finished it last month and I loved it!
@@allengainzmma I haven’t gotten around to it yet, but hope to by the end of the year. Glad you liked it!
I am a simple man. I see Prototype art in the thumbnail, I click.
The green screen GOAT, love this one lol
Ps. You and Merphy Napier at 199k Subs at the same time, congrats on the inevitable 200k!
If I hear “extenuating circumstances” one more time I think I’ll make it a drinking game. Send help now.
i know this is a year late but i actually loved the UMC ship names lol. The extenuating circumstances was the best
I love the book but goddamn that name is the worst thing Paolini has ever named. I just started calling it the EC in my head
Oh! A symbiotic alien? Sounds similar to the anime Parasyte, which I absolutely loved! It's such an interesting concept to evaluate humanity through the lens of someone no longer quite human. If this is anything like that I'm totally sold!
More serious?
No, not necessary.
You're fine, man.
More than fine, you're wonderful.
How dare people have FUN when reviewing fantasy books? This is serious official business! Seriously though are the people complaining expert book readers? Do they read sci fi fantasy as a professional career? Who cares if someone is being "professional" when talking about a fun hobby lol. Must be stressful to take your books so seriously.
Congratulations! Your DANIEL GREENE has leveled up! Level 100 reached!
Unlocked: Lightsaber weapon
Don't be more serious! You're awesome, you're not just my favorite booktuber, you're my favorite RUclipsr period. So keep doing you!!!
Side note: Alien Symbiote? Yes please!!!
I am so excited for this book!! I joined a contest to win a signed copy so I hope I win!
Ahhh!!! Already preordered the audiobook and my birthday is on the same week!
My mind might explode with happiness!
Daniel character development this episode is amazing
I just finished the book. It’s the first book of its kind that I’ve read probably since I was a teenager, I’m 63 years old, and was obsessed with Robert Heinlein. It’s a very good read. I hated for it to end and thus find myself saying goodbye to the people I met in the story. I do recommend it if you like good Science Fiction.
I think the green screen is the best thing that happened to this channel
Symbiotic relationship? Shape-shifting limbs? This is sounding a lot like the anime, Parasyte 👽 (Not a bad thing, but it adds to my intrigue)
Paolini has never been the most original guy, so...
Also the video game series of Prototype, in fact the blade in the thumbnail is from Prototype.
@@malcomalexander9437 i mean alex in prototype didnt have a symbiotic relationship with anything. But yeah the powers are really similar
@@a_blitz True, but Daniel is using an image from Prototype.
@@malcomalexander9437 yeah thats why i said that the powers do seem really similar to alex's. In which case i got alot more interested in the book because i love those kind of shapeshifty powers, especially if the character/author is creative in their uses
Thank you so much for these videos Daniel, watching you has helped me cope with all the crazy stuff that has been happening in my life for these past few months. You've also got me heavily invested into reading fantasty books and for that I can't thank you enough❤
This is beautiful! The red socks in contrast to the cover is great to make me understand on a level that you’re so serious I could never comprehend.
Please, Daniel, don't change. I like your wacky style!
Daniel, thank you for this video. I only got 2 hours of sleep last night because every time I went to sleep I woke up an hour later screaming my head off. I was so disturbed by not knowing why I was screaming that I just stayed up the entire rest of the night. I can only guess it's all the stress that has been piling on from school and work, there is also high risk of wildfire in my area which doesn't help the stress. One of the biggest things keeping me going are book releases, specifically this one and let me tell you, when I saw your newest video after a calming shower I SMILED (almost cried). You really made my morning. You always come in at the right times, thank you so very much. Keep up the amazing content :)
Hey internet stranger, I just wanna say keep your head up and maybe take some NyQuil to really get some sleep if possible. Stay good, stay safe, stay healthy, and know that you matter. Sleep matters too. Breathe, and meditate. You're going to be okay, stranger.
Hope you sleep well, fellow reader - enjoy your rest and carry on!
Based on how this is described, I would highly, HIGHLY recommend the anime "Parasyte". It does a fantastic job of illustrating exactly the dynamic you are talking about regarding what happens when a human and alien accidentally form a symbiotic relationship that need to depend on each other to survive.
he definitely red parasyte, looking at the powers of the symbiote, some inspiration there
Who says that? Where do we go to beat them up? 👊🏿
dude the quality of these videos just keep getting better and better. So fun to watch!
The thing about endings for me, especially in action-packed stories, movies, or videogames is that I'm searching for that theoretical "high-five" moment from the author where I'm jumping for joy at satisfying resolution. Our characters don't necessarily hafta win, they just need to reach a ending that makes sense within the context of the narrative.
When I was in 4th grade, I read the Eragon books (Brisingr came out later i think) and he had a meet n greet in the closest big city to me. I begged my mother to go. She actually let me and I stood outside for 4 hours just to find out he was cancelling the event. I cried the entire 3 hour drive home. :( he was my childhood hero! Now I’ll have to grab this and examine his writings as an adult 😁
I trust you more than any other book tuber exactly because you don't take yourself so seriously
Dear Daniel. I love fantasy books, and I love the way you explain the book’s. You have introduced me to many many new and old fantasy writers, and I thank you 🙏. I think you are great 👍. Keep being you.😉.
Forget the haters, your content is great, informative and fun to watch
I love the humor please don't ever change :D
Thanks! This answers a lot of the questions I had about this book ❤️
I had no idea he was dropping a new book until today and now I'm 100% on the hype train
I pre-order this beast pretty much because of your review and the beautiful cover art.
Side note: we NEED jokes like you right now.
Thanks for this video daniel. Planninh to buy the book.
Seriously I was literally clapping for real halfway through the video 👏👏 Your editing skills are damn amazzzingggg 😆
I was so unbelievably happy when this book arrived this week. I might have actually teared up. I love Paolini and even though I don't read much (i read like 3 books this year so far) I couldn't wait to start it. Also the cover is even more beautiful in person.
Always like watching ur videos!!! 📖.... great review!!
Daniel:there is a symbiote
Me: say no more
My wallet:i am in danger
Definitely going to pick this one up!
Also, you should check out the Sun Eater series by Christopher Ruocchio. These two seem to be similar in the fact that they are both epic space operas that are grounded in their science.
I’m soo excited for this book! Got both a signed copy and audio book (which will be amazing!!) on pre-order!
Yes I already pre-ordered it. Love Christopher paolini's writing style .
It's been a while since I've stepped into a sci-fi world (and my last experience didn't go so well) so I'm excited for this one.
I wasn't familiar with your channel before the Paolini interview, but that, the nonspoiler review for TSiaSoS, and this video make me really interested in this channel and definitively going to watch more.
I finished this book recently, and I LOVED IT. The 3rd person narrative was polarizing at first but I grew to love it. And I unlike others loved thr ending
I enjoyed this video. Thank you
I have tried to read Paolini, but I"m not big on his style. But I might give this a try.
Good morning Daniel I hope you are having a good day.
Almost to 200k!
The cover itself made me want to read it, but this just sealed it 👌🏼
Just finished this book...I really enjoyed it! Also I loved that he put up that gif of Jaime Lannister after saying "incestuous" 😂😂
Greetings!! YES I plan on getting a copy...
I want all editing to be like this video lol so much joy
FINE, i'll buy it. sounds cool and the fractalverse is like a magnet for nerds like us.
ps: i love these green screen videos
yeah i've already pre-ordered the audiobook and have the hardcover coming in nov. Ready for a new paolini book! :)
Daniel's Greene screen usage is top notch👌
I'm on a real sci-fi kick since quarantine started; been burning through The Expanse very quickly, read the sequel to Children of Time, Parable of the Sower, Dune, Slaughterhouse-5. And I have been particularly craving yet more space exploration themed stories. Might have to add this to my to-read list
Have you read the Revelation Space books yet?
Currently reading the novel now. There is an actual connection between the Inheritance Cycle and To Sleep in a Sea of Stars!
Are there any other books that look at the Symbiote relationship just since I have never seen this written outside of film before. Any recs would be great! Fab video! Definitely waiting for the release!
I REALLY wish Daniel had given us a spoiler alert when he spoiled the fact that the alien and the relationship that it has with the main character.
This...might just be my favourite video yet. Is it the socks? I think it's the socks.
Lol Daniel, I love this kind of seriousness xD
As a massive Halo lore fanatic. Despite how few times you reference it, even having the picture of the UNSC deck makes me happy. Seriously y'all, Halo lore is ridiculously amazing, interesting, and well though out. People I tell be like yeah, yeah whatever. People I tell who then actually start reading the Halo stuff be like, "Yeah, yeah, whatever... HOLY ******* DUDE THIS IS AWESOME" It's way better than you would think from the games. Take the "I read every halo novel, and became the master chief of halo" video for example.
It’s crazy how the dune saga has influenced everything in modern sci-fi.
It's the equivalent of LOTR and fantasy.
Well, you certainly convinced me. It sounds like a fun read.
I preordered my signed copy back in july. Cannot wait! Im not super well versed in Scifi books but i am wanting to get into it more.
I pre-ordered this book nearly a month ago. I just want it now. 😭
The best channel on booktube
I don't read sci-fi as much, my last dive was the Spiral War by Joel Shepherd, and I'm not that far into it yet. I will say that the spine for To Sleep In A Sea of Stars is the worst I've ever seen. It's basically "Paolini" by To Sleep In A Sea of Stars, the creator of the Inheritance Cycle.
I am going to annotate it's german version! I am so excited!
A+ sillies, thanks for the positive humour. Also the green screen is the best thing to happen to this channel since you stopped drawing out the ending of every sentence.
Tbh that's the prettiest cover-title combo I may have ever seen
I'm not the typical Sci-Fi reader and I really liked it. (I got an arc and audio arc.) There was a bit of lull in the story but I loved that part for building the coworker friendships.
Im excited to listen to this on Audible :)
As I have dislexia to, I just love your content, and don't care about the jokes and I also love Steve King to, so please keep up the content.
Daniel falling down at 1:36 killed me :D
Your humor is on point 🤣
My Conquest is a Sea of Stars
It raises the question. It doesn't beg the question.
Okay I'll stop now. 🤭
Love your content and think you're awesome.
I never even knew that this symbiont stuff was a trope, but now I do? Sounds interesting, just like everything else you reviewed and approved... And honestly, sweatpants and socks paired with a Peppa-pink hoodie are a look.
Nice Windwaker sound effect at the beginning
Best intro ever!!!!
Fractleversy 😂love it
We live for memeslord Daniel.
Seriously tho love your content!
Apparently there are lots of puns, too, so like.... I'm real excited to get a hold of this book 😅
You should watch and review the anime parasyte the maxim, as it touches on many of the same themes with symbiosis with a foreign being
Well I'm sold, I think I need to pick up this book.
That hoodie is dope
Already preordered 📖👌
I loved inheritance and I love this. Chia has just improved
This is the plot of the anime parasite in a nutshell , except with an adult woman as a main character.. Daniel, you really really need to look at the anime Parasyte because even the powers are troubling in their similarity, especially the existential aspects. I will say that there are differences in terms of the initial premise but, i recommend you look into it.
nice Arknights backdrop at 6:17
I got a signed book & audio book pre-ordered.
Reminds me of the parasyte manga. I'm looking forward to it
