Thanks for your business and we love the fact that you will be sharing this with your kids. However, the Terms and Conditions you agreed to at purchase only allows the construction of one hull per set of plans. Please contact us if you wish to build more than one hull.
Good morning, my name is Diego, I'm Brazilian, I'm interested in purchasing one of your boat projects, I went to see the website and saw the models you have there, I would like to know if my friend doesn't have any simple catamaran models?
Why do people make the bow so much like a tugboat? I have come to think that the front should be like a knife to push the water aside. Am I missing something, since I have never built a boat? I am going to build one even though I don't have the craft of building one. I want a forward facing rower, lite camper sailer.
I'm not sure if you mentioned it in the video but is there much difference than using tie wraps or wire for the stitch and glue method? I've seen both but I'm not sure if one is superior over the other. Or easier. Tie wraps seem an easy method.
We like zip ties because they are so much easier. You can use wire but you will be cutting it into short strips, then bending, routing and twisting with pliers. That can get old pretty quick and the sharp cut wire ends seem to inevitably cut your hands. With a zip tie you just feed it thru the pull tight, plus the sound they make is very satisfying too.
I work for a boat building company. I love the build of the hull themselves but I can only hold my tongue for so long on this subject. You make amazing PLUGS. They work as boats but the wood will rot because of condensation and the amount of wood plus fiberglass doubles the weight. You also don't roll in high density foam with resin. The kind of foam you use expands with air that can cause a sponge/condensation effect causing damage to the wood frame and stringers causing rot over time.
Thanks for the compliments. While what you say is true for polyester & vinylester with plywood, which is arguably the cardinal sin of boat building. BUT it is not true for marine grade plywood and epoxy that we use. This is a proven (both practically and thru engineering) method of building boats. For a full explanation and more info reference the the Gougeon Brothers book on boat construction. They are the inventors/creators of West System Epoxy and pioneers of wood & epoxy construction. Our designs are fully engineered, not just wood with some glass thrown at it. We balance the weight and strength of the wood with the fiberglass as both are part of the overall laminate schedule. For example, a foam cored panel capable of the same strength for our FRS-15 skiff would weight at least 2x as much and cost over 3x as much.
Best glue and stitch video I’ve found so far. And that’s lots of videos. The pvc is such a great idea.
Thanks for the compliments!
Very good explanation , thx
I agree, the pvc pipe trick is an excellent idea.
Very good tutorial, I'll bet a more detailed video on how to put the boat together will do well
I got my plans and I'll be starting my 12' skiff's next week. I'm building three one for me and the other two for my son's.

Love your channel, all videos are straight to the point. It's floating on top of all the other watered down RUclips videos. Thanks
Do you have access to printed plans for boats like layout or sneak type duck boats? And stitch and glue suppliers? Thanks
How far in from the edge do you drill the holes for the zip ties?
Would be nice to know what kind of wood was used
I would like to get the construction project for this model.

Right on. Thanks for the reply. I’ll use the zip ties once I get my boat plans.
