Claude Debussy
Prélude à l'après-midi d'un Faune (arrangement for two pianos by the composer himself)
Recorded on October 17th, 2016 at the Philharmonie de Paris
Directed by Don Kent
One of my favourite Debussy pieces played by one of my favourite pianists. What a treat. She should start releasing vinyls again!
Donde vaya Martha Argerich o lo toca muy bien o salva totalmente la obra , sigue siendo una fenomeno o sera que a mi me encanta. Buenos dias
Great, they played it last Sunday in Amsterdam. But so good to hear again.
8:16 So sweet!
Loved it!
classic
Thanks for posting this. It's very interesting that the writing is so pianistic. Assuming this version predates the orchestral one??
I believe it was reworked into a two-piano version a year after the orchestral arrangement was released
This is an arrangement for 2 pianos by Ravel
i have not heard this version before. Very difficult to bring off, I guess. The problem with the two piano version is the lack of orchestral colour. They managed it quite well , but I do think they could have been more sensual. More rubato is needed for this to really move the listener. Stephen has very good singing tone, but the "flute " part is just not amorous enough for my taste.
The hardest part is the lack of rubato! They chose to keep a deliberate tempo so they could stick together and it suffered for it. I like the wickedly hard solo piano transcription by the Russian dude, uh...what's his name LOL oh, Gryaznov
Kovacevich part should have been played by Argerich. He makes the intro sound like a piano bar melody.
Somewhat strangely awkward.
franchement mauvais
Not enough colors. Valiant effort though.
I dont judge and compare to other performances, the two pianos have their own color and admosphere
They played it way too fast and completely ruined this genuine, colorful piece with their soulless play. Too bad. Go play Beethoven again...
