The slowdown is promising, and James Gunn should hopefully give us some Gems. The strikes also hopefully gave these writers and creators more time to make good stuff. The groundwork is there to get better, it’s a matter if it happens or not

Too many cooks in the kitchen. They have to slow down and go back to planning an writing better stories for the films an shows. We're getting too much content with majority of them being hits an misses. There was a time when the entire phase of MCU was full of bangers. Now we get 1 or 2 good movies an the rest of the phases is mediocre
then dont watch the content, its not just about you...
Don Cheadle is probably feeling pissed off at how armor wars is no longer happening. All that setup for nothing. It took decades for him to get his own movie and now it’s dead.

Trying to replace the X-men with the Eternals is like trying to eat ice cream with chopsticks. You can possibly do it, but you’re not really going enjoy it.

That and poor writing, casting, directing and producing. 🤣 Sorry, yes, I know that's all management. I was looking forward to an "A Force", where maybe the bad guy was like Zeus's son Hercules, and the women could have just railed on him and beat the crud out of him.
They could have opened the movie with flashbacks to Valkyrie snacking when Zeus flicked to hard, things like that would have been hilarious, but a well written script would also have it filled with great action and "some" humor as all the women shared their views on "men".
I'm sorry that I am not sorry; Men get to objectify and sexualize women. But men seem to think its wrong for women to objectify and sexualize men. I think its funny as heck!

Yeah compare how Zeb looked in the Mandalorian to how terrible She-Hulk's effect looked. Spending that amount of money on effects that sometimes looked worse than Jar Jar in the 90s should be a glowing neon scandal. Tatiana Maslany is such a good actress and deserved better.

Man, I’m kind of disappointed that there won’t be anymore Special Presentations. The smaller scale, smaller budget and shorter runtime for things that wouldn’t work as a series or standalone movie work really well. A sentry specifical presentation would’ve been great to see

Ever since I saw the chrome Terminator in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, I've been waiting for a Silver Surfer movie. Then they finally included him in a Fantastic 4 movie. But they made him a wimp. First off, he doesn't get his powers from his board. He doesn't need to be touching his board to have his powers. Whoever wrote the script for F4: Rise Of The Silver Surfer has never read the comic. Surfer is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe. Hopefully this time they won't make him a wimp again.

I remember I was excited for the phases because I said “finally they have enough money to make every movie good. They own all the equipment the CGI the next few years are gonna be amazing” I have never been more wrong

I think it would be a huge waste of potential to cancel Armour Wars. It had great potential with Ultron, Justin Hammer, the ending of Secret Invasion with Rhodey and how he would react to everything that has happened.
It's not cancelled. It is being repurposed into a movie years down the line, probably around when the next Avengers happens in phase 6.
While I'm sad we're no longer getting Special Presentations, I'm happy Disney is finally taking this seriously and putting some quality control in.

This is good. The past few years Disney was just throwing shit at the wall and hoped something sticked. This whole last phase felt like Marvel doing auditions for which character they were gonna take seriously
They’ve been tokenising writers and actors who unfortunately lack the experience or talent to really deliver a great end product, all the while shaming the casual consumer for not giving those people false praise, and even going so far as encouraging writers to ignore the source material and push radical political messaging instead of telling good stories.
It’s really sad because giving POC and women representation is, at it’s core, a noble concept. However, in order to do that you don’t throw them into these huge projects that they’re not ready for. That actually sets them back, and nothing progresses.
I don’t feel bad for them because the power went to their heads. For example the She-Hulk writers went out of their way to insult their audience
Too bad they can’t retroactively cancel Secret Invasion

Honestly, "disconnected" didn't bother me so much. It was the quality that was lacking. Maybe they were high on all that "before times" money and didn't care; maybe they were just spread too thin, "like butter scraped over too much bread."
I'm glad that Disney is retooling every project and listening to their fans so that they can make better movies
No one ever said they were “listening to their fans”. They just realized theyve lost more money than made and they need to adjust.

Really don’t think Blade is as big as we think it is. The last time we even heard of Blade was…the actual movies? I’m not counting video games. Before that was in the Spiderman 90s cartoon.

OK, so if I understand properly, Marvel is removing origin stories and putting characters we don't really know or care about with a bunch of other characters we don't know or care about into a big movie and expecting it to work. The worked so well with The Eternals, right? /s
they Butcher the Original Jack Kirby Eternals . they Race swap and Gender Swap the Eternals .
I don't think cutting production is gonna solve a inherited problem within the MCU IMO. Some of this seems to be more so budget related, and not necessarily "quality control".
And the writers they choose all want to think they are better than any of the source material so they have to subvert expectations
Yep the writing is low quality that’s what they need to fix first. Get rid of all the tv shows because they are just `ok` and rarely good. Getting sick/bored of it, which is a shame.
You have such a talent for kindly stating the realities of situations like this, as in marvels "coarse correction".
When in reality every actual fan of this kind of stuff knows the answer for Disney's problems.
Honor characters that people like lol. Don't skew popular characters, and don't shove characters and stories that aren't successful down people's throats while telling them they should like it. It's so easy, you just have a nice way of saying it.
P.s. not to rant... but imagine being in the position to take an intellectual property that can be directly used as storyboards for a film or show, with documented sales for its release and impact, and still not being able to "adapt" it.

Let's get the MCU back on track
They've actually been at that for several months, it just takes a couple years for movies to get made, so you won't really see the full extent of it play out until after the next couple of years.
Marvel got too greedy trying to cater to every type of audience..
they tried to make everything for girls.
Crossover movies will be a better option than just traditional movies with cameos

They should cancel shows completely and focus on high quality movies. Whats the point of making 3 shows with mediocre characters and bad cgi when you can achieve the same outcome with a 2h movie. Disney is doing it for profit, keeping viewers hooked on Disney+ for as long as possible and it ruins their brand in the long run.
Because the MCU has gotten so big with the number of characters, there isn't enough time and money to give everyone a movie. Take Phase 4. Turn those Disney + shows and turn them into movies. That's more movies than Phase 3's roster. And there wouldn't be enough time to fully flesh some of these characters out. It's one of the reasons I like the Marvel Television shows more than movies sometimes.

After wandavision in lockdown I was truly captivated and thought all the shows would hold that same standard, havent been able to get into them recently. Last one I watched and enjoyed was Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
@ianacquaye3719 just fyi Loki season 2 was phenomenal and I think it blew all other shows out of the water, including wands vision which is actually a show I absolutely loved, and yet season 2 Loki was just THAT good and character development was spot on.

Blade still exists and is currently still getting made. But it's at least 2 years+ away.

A HUGE reason why The Marvels failed is that it's disjointed and Captain Marvel is very boring.
I really liked it! I thought it was better than the first one. The villain was weak, but the story was good, and I loved the humorous elements.

No it's because people refused to go see it because of the unnecessary hate towards Brie Larson and her characters, and not being willing to give Monica and Kamala a chance to shine.
Regarding both the Inhumans and Ghostrider... They should save themselves a lot of trouble by just going out and saying that Agents of Shield is officially canon. They did a decent job of dealing with both inhumans and Robbie Reyes Ghostrider. They could easily build off that and even bring back Phil Coulson, which I think many fans would love to see. And adding Quake to a future Avengers team would also be cool.
At the very least, let Daisy Johnson and Robbie Reyes return.

With how many world-ending events that we saw in agents of shield, I wouldn't be surprised if they treated that world as canon but multiversal and then have daisy\quake and Robbie Reyes (ghost rider) enter the multiverse story line or something.
I would miss Fitzsimmons and coulson and agent May and big daddy shotgun-axe man... But their story was wrapped up and we could always hear some camels or waste eggs...
But last I checked, Daisy was out chasing the cosmos and Robbie was chasing people through hell...
What I could predict something happening is them using the fact that Wanda destroyed the darkhold book in every universe. And ghost rider was taking that book with him last we checked so maybe he was in the middle of a hell gate portal to see quake, maybe for their weekend or annual reunion like the last episode, and when the book was destroyed something off happened where the portal started to collapse on Robbie and Daisy tries to quake it to keep it open but it just ends up creating repercussions that throws them into our world or merges part of their world (like the space ship that they were doing a reunion on) into our world. And now we have that final agents of shield roster in our MCU without the non cannon crap they had.
Seems like the best idea for so many of these spinoffs is to bring them into one or maybe two production series. Like all the Wandavision spinoffs, bring them into one show and just flow the story telling to compact it more.
I think Disney saw the success and got greedy, and ordered so many shows, but really didn't want to spend the budgets and time to make the shows successful. So they are trying to Walmart it, faster, cheaper, better, and that's not how art works. Shell out money, time, production, and good management and you'll see a return on investment.
I love how they “test” stuff with scripts and executions that are worse than they could be.
Marvel tried to push the Inhumans in the comics over the X-Men because Fox had the rights and they then thought it would work with the Eternals in the movies? The management over there is so bad.

Armor Wars isn't cancelled. They announced last year that they are simply restructuring it into a movie. While we don't have a release date, it will obviously be released in the Phase 6 or perhaps Phase 7 era.

The characters will return, but it looks like Alioth is going to trash compactor a lot of their more obscure stuff.
The first thing Marvel should have done post Endgame, was immediately Dark Avengers. Even if you didn't have Norman Osborne? Just use a different character in that spot? Or? Have done whatever it took to workout like a 10 picture deal with Sony for Norman.
But, the timing for the Dark Avengers was perfect, because of the giant void left behind after Endgame. Tony and Natasha dead, Steve retired, Thor off world.
It was a perfect setup for the Dark Avengers. And, it would have been a storyline that was grounded after a giant space opera storyline. They could have still been setting up Multiverse stuff. But had this other story going on.
And, what could have been cool if you had Norman is, you do Spider-Man NWH exactly the same. Have Norman kill May. And then, a different Norman Osborne takes over Tony Starks role, who in the MCU was Peter's father figure. So, just instant cool storylines you could tell there.
Okay, then who should be the leader of this group? If such a group existed, wouldn't it make more sense to rise up during those five years of Thanos blip? Also, wouldn't it take a while to build up a team after the events of Endgame?
Also, you are thinking about what they are going to do in the new animated Spider-Man show that is coming out later this year
@@Unversed333 Think about how many movies they've done post Endgame, vs the amount of movies it took before they did Avengers? It could have been done, I'm not saying next movie post Endgame is Dark Avengers, but set it up.
And the leader of the team in a perfect world is Norman Osborne. And this could have been a Norman without any Goblin serum. He's just incredibly smart like Tony, and he takes over the Iron Man suits.
You could bring back Red Skull, and have him wear a mask again, and he's your Captain America?
Obviously, General Ross as Red Hulk.
And how would have done some of the setup. Instead of doing Thunderbolts as a lame attempt at a MCU Suicide Squad. Make them what the original comic was. Where the whole movie, the audience would believe they are a hero group and it the end, you find out they were the villains. And at the end is when you could introduce a Norman Osborne.
There are various things you could have done in setting up this idea.

Everything after Endgame feels so anticlimactic. That’s the problem with the MCU. Ok, the biggest villain in the universe is dead, now what? Where does Marvel go forward and still maintain that excitement that led up to Infinity War/Endgame?
Honestly, if they had started to set up Kang in Phase 4 (outside of Loki, maybe mentioning/showing his gloves in Multiverse of Madness as a teaser), I think they'd be able to build up some more hype. The Kang in Antman 3 mentioned beating multiple Avengers... but it would've been nice if we actually got to see that, or it be mentioned in other projects.
Example: in Multiverse of Magic, maybe they could've stopped in a universe and when Strange asks about the avengers, someone mentions "Kang wiped them out" and that's ALL we got, and then hearing more and more about Kang in other movies/shows (maybe even Konshu or the other Egyptian gods could mention Kang and how "The man in green and purple appeared... and wiped out one of the worlds".

Folding or injecting cancelled projects into other projects seldom yields satisfying results and typically just creates bloat and a diluted product. Don't believe me, just ask Mandalorian Season 3. Sometimes it's best just to let it go.
This what I'm saying for a long time. Not everyone should have their own film/series. Some characters works better on a ensemble cast than a solo outing.
Hence why they gave certain characters like Wanda and Hawkeye a full blown movie.
The Marvels wasn't bad because it was led by women. It was bad because its script was poorly written and its subplots reduced the characters through petty behavioral patterns that fell out of alignment with the supposed big stakes at play.

It didn't suck, and a lot of people want to see what happens next, because it ended on a cliff hanger. Comparing it to Captain Marvel is just dumb. Captain Marvel is a joke that pretty much everyone actually hates for very valid reasons. Just because you didn't like something because it didn't meet your standards doesn't mean everyone else also dislikes it. It hasn't actually been cancelled anyway, though. The TV show version of it that was originally planned was cancelled, and made into a movie instead, but there's nothing anywhere saying the 2nd movie has been cancelled. According to every source I can find, Eternals 2 is expected to come out sometime in 2026 or 2027. I'd be good with just one more movie resolving the cliff hanger, though. While it didn't suck, I can't honestly say it was all that great. Had they not ended it on a cliff hanger, I would be fine with just having only the one movie.

Very simply, changing all the characters to someone else is the wrong move, unless Kang beats the New Avengers so badly that the original Avengers come to save the day somehow, like Steve Roger's avenging a half dead Sam wilson because this new team is not up to par, that is something the audience would go crazy for

@@baileybunch9999 A lot of MCU movies didn't connect at first, they usually just make some connection on post credit or on later movies. But those characters are the "main" Marvel characters. Eternals is a bad movie, it didn't connect and it doesn't matter and they are niche characters. Eternals in the comics does not matter until just recently (maybe to make them more relevant because of the movie).

It was a good movie and they genuinely do have good characters, it just takes some actual writing to implement them within the broader MCU well, which marvel hasn’t had recently.

It’s a shame we won’t get an Eternals sequel because for me the biggest problem in the multiverse saga is the lack of sequels. We just keep getting new projects with a load of new characters but I wanna see story lines that were set up in phase 4 continue. Like give us more Shang-Chi for example.

They've gone overboard. They release so much that I no longer can keep up. And the whole cross-over between movies and TV shows is ridiculous. I'm REQUIRED to watch TV shows to know what's happening in the movies? I don't WANT to watch Ms. Marvel or Secret Invasion.

@@Unversed333- You're missing the point. I'm so happy for you that you thought Ms. Marvel was good. I watched 1 episode and couldn't even get all the way thru it. So you may have liked it, but I hated it. But then I watched Marvels and had literally no idea who half the characters were. Introducing a character in a TV show that you have to watch to understand the movies, that's a fail. There's at least 4 TV shows I plan to never watch....if that is going to lessen my enjoyment of the movies, then that's going to lose me as a customer over time.

What began as excitement for every Marvel movie coming down the pike, (I would pack up my daughters and nephews and treat them to a great Saturday afternoon) has now turned into a "meh" attitude and wait until it shows up on Disneyplus .... They really flushed all the fun down the toilet. Now its preachy.
If they think the "young avengers" movie is going to make a profit then the MCU is over.
I feel like it won't be called Young Avengers, and the team will simply be referred to as the Avengers, since most of the original Members are gone.

All this shuffling and the main things they seem to miss are a) characters people like b) conflicts between those characters and c) as Charlie said, it feeling connected or at least having a direction.
We have street level stuff here, espionage over there, multiverse here, space over here, gods and magic over there … and way too many characters for it to feel as if this would ever have an overarching focus.

I think the demise of phase 4 is overblown. I've enjoyed a lot of it for sure, most of them are not as good as the previous phases but they're not that bad either. Some of those not so good ones aren't straight up garbage like the ones Sony and DC made. Hopefully, James Gunn does something about it.

Its not that the ideas were disconnected, its that it was a coin-flip for each TV/movie what was good & bad. In Phase 1-3 it was usually good or average, 50% of Phase 4-5 you never want to rewatch, if you ever saw them once. Partly the problem is trying to ram this collection of ideas into a “multiverse arc” rather than let that theme develop. This was a problem with the infinity arc too, those films succeeded because it was just loosely tacked on, but did tee-up bigger, better movies well. The multiverse shenanigans is distorting ever story, some can roll with that as they’re cosmic by nature, GotG, Wanda & Dr Strange, Loki, MoonKnight (Eternals is DoA as its mythology doesn’t mesh with the MCU). Everything else that should be more grounded, like Blade, is being harmed by forcing a theme that runs counter to its base.
No, it was also that everything felt disconnected. Phase 1-3, if you saw something in a mid-credits/post-credits scene, you knew there was a payoff coming up soon. If not the next movie, sometime within the next year or two. When they introduced new characters (aside from the villains they kept killing off), those characters had some relevance to the events that were coming up. The exception to that, initially, was Guardians of the Galaxy, but because Gamora was Thanos' daughter, we knew they were going to be in the mix down the road.
The closest they managed to come to that in Phase Four was having Wong turn up in She-Hulk, and Yelena going after Clint in Hawkeye. Shang-Chi? Mysteriously absent from everything else in Phase Four. The Eternals? Not only absent from the rest of Phase Four, but BOTH of the characters they teased, post-credits, are still stuck in development Limbo.
Phase One through Phase Three were clearly building toward something. Every movie was a puzzle piece that fit into place (although I will readily grant that some fit more cleanly than others). Phase Four had all the sense of precise creation of a toddler pulling toys out of a toy box. As individual creations, I enjoyed them (not all equally, and I'm still missing a few of the Disney+ series as I only see those when I visit my friends during holidays)...but Phase One through Three was clearly, from the outset, a coherent story being built, and Phase Four was a pile of individual projects, with a few of them connected by stray threads. It's like 1-3 were written by a really skilled team of writers who were contractually obligated to do four phases, but they knew they'd be gone after that, so they stopped really building a sense of interconnection and building the projects together.
They finally started connecting dots again in Phase Five, but I know several people have lost faith in the quality of Marvel productions and they're going to have to put out a string of truly phenomenal projects to win those people back.
They should just reboot the whole thing at this point. Have Deadpool 3 lead straight into Secret Wars, start with Doom standing over the defeated Kang variants with a somber message of the damage already being done, and get all the cameos out of the way in one massive film that leads to the creation of a new continuity set in the late 80's. This way they can plausibly keep time-specific elements like Magneto's WW2 backstory, focus on the X-Men and F4 for a few years and eventually get to reintroducing new actors for older characters (Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther) with an actual plan that doesn't involve killing off every antagonist and writing themselves into a corner. Hell, you could even keep Strange, Doom, and the few other elements of the MCU that still work through magical shenanigans.
We'd lose Cox as Daredevil and Holland as Spidey, but hey - the hardest choices require the strongest wills.

We wouldn't have to lose Charlie and Tom, per se. Since it'd be a clearing of the board, they could come back as variant versions of the initial characters they played(assuming they wanted to, that is). Marvel could find ways to make it work
I don't like that because that would mean sinking DCEU's level of problems. Yes, the MCu hasn't been as strong as it was in the first three phases, but it is far from the dumpster fire of other franchises. Besides, I don't want a new continuity to follow so they can find a cheap way to bring back some of the characters who had perfect endings to their stories.
@@Unversed333It's a little reductive to say that a reset would be "cheap", there are critical problems in the continuity due to the Fox licensing issues and many storylines and rivalries can no longer be explored due to wasteful early demises. While the MCU is it's own thing, they're greatly limited on what they can explore in future - Iron Man never even met The Mandarin, we'll never see an intellectual rivalry between Stark and Richards, Doom won't square up against a full Avengers roster...
I wouldn't call it a dumpster fire either, but it has become hugely problematic as they clearly didn't have much of a plan beyond Endgame and they've struggled to keep people invested in the narrative - there's a reason they've had to scrap so many projects, Kang wasn't working long before the drama with Majors hit.
The only thing I agree with is that we did get a handful of "perfect" endings, which is why it feels like we're stuck in a perpetual epilogue. It's time to start a new journey without all this lingering baggage.
I think seeing Black Panther's son in action would be wonderful, Shuri handing her run off as she grapples with her future and how to handle outliving her brother only to be ruled by his son? ✨️✨️✨️✨️
Disney+ has been a disaster. Its destroyed the Marvel brand. Only a few shows have hit the mark.
I think this is a good sign that marvel headed in the right direction, but now its a matter of rebuilding their damaged reputation from these last few years intrigued for the future though!
The real problem is that Marvel thinks disconnected movies are a problem. The basics are to make good individual movies with overarching as just extra benefits.

@@berzerkbankie1342 Yeah, and I'm an executive employee at Warner Bros. 😒. There are a lot of RUclipsrs, and other social media personalities that spout this stuff online, and half of its isn't true. If such a project was shelved, the CEO wouldn't wait for a big event like Comic con to announce it. We may not have heard a lot of news, and that's because as a part of the restructuring of the MCU, they realized that Armor Wars would be more suited as a movie than a show, perhaps because of the cost. Because of this they had to rearrange the schedule, pushing it back a bit so they get prepared for developing the project while Ironheart is still moving along as scheduled.
Honestly this just seems like it's for the best. Enough with the random disney+ shows, lets just get back to the characters the fans actually care about. Now that they can mix the remaining major characters from phase 3 with the X Men and Fantastic Four, there's still a lot of potential for the movies they can make
They are not random shows. It is giving focus to some of the characters so we can properly set them up for future movies. WandaVision- Multiverse of Madness, falcon and the winter soldier- Brave New World, Loki- Quantumania, WandaVision and Ms. Marvel- The Marvels

I find it a demonstration of insanity that they "tested" the premise of A Force with the Marvels when the Marvels contains, who is reportedly, one of the least liked actresses in the roster. Total self sabotage to think they would get a good response when a large number of Marvel fans are not interested in movies with that actress playing a major part in it.
I am so disappointed that Rhodey isn’t getting his own movie, I was super excited for that.
He is they are just having to restructure it, as it was originally going to be a Disney+ show. I don't know where this guy got the idea that it was cancelled.
Lets be honest.... besides the 6 characters (Captain America, Thor,Iron Man, Spider-Man, Ant Man, and Black Panther) , the other characters cant move the needle unless it is an Origin movie
I do hope they do at least a few quirky TV shows. Quality control went wrong, but when the TV shows worked they were really fun: Hawkeye for instance.

Man this fkin surprised me especially with the word cancelled in about future Marvel projects but dude all this is reasonable and the tv special presentations were really good dude I wanted more of those specials to show off off with Werewolf By Night and other characters and I’m fine with X-Men, Midnight Sons, Spider-Man, Deadpool, The Fantastic Four, and more but hopefully everything will go well bc I still think Marvel will succeed even if that means we gotta be patient with more projects im completely fine with being patient quality over quantity.
