    Asking most white people about racism is like expecting a wall to talk back. Ofcourse they're not going to see it (since they're the majority in those places) and usually if they do, they'll deny it.

    Why ask white people about racism? That's like asking heterosexuals about homophobia, or men about sexism.

      Emma McMahon Learn the definition of racism. You have NEVER faced institutionalized, political, or economic oppression. Sit the fuck down.

      Emma McMahon lol. You clearly don't know the definition of racism and how it works. Go to school. Read a book. Learn something. It's 2016, no excuse to be an uneducated dumb ass.

    It's always about class. In every society ever. And once an association or connection is made between poverty and any particular race, it perpetuates an ongoing cycle.

    • @markgable101
      @markgable101 9 лет назад

      I have never seen an English shop in London.... There mostly Asian as in Indian.
      Black people shouldn't complain. Being in England is better than being in your own countries. That's why your here. The black man in America didn't have a choice he was brought there as cheap labour.

    • @midnight15086
      @midnight15086 9 лет назад

      Mark Gable My point was that all around the world, the rich (or sometimes even middle class) despise the poor, and if there are more of a certain race that are poor, the rich will despise that race too overall. And where there's more poverty there's more crime, so they also come to be associated with criminals. And overall then that race will have a harder time getting ahead in life because they are despised (for being poor and/or uneducated, ultimately), which perpetuates an ongoing cycle. You don't want to promote a race full of ignorant people with a higher proportion of crime rate, so they are kept down and they remain a race full of ignorant people with a higher proportion of crime rate.

      Cimorelli is the best wow you're such an idiot. On these videos it only takes a few scrolls down to get to the bland inevitable ignorance. Perhaps have a look into a history of what Britain did to the world, and then see what you think. If that doesn't change anything, maybe you could write a book called 'mein kampf' and become politically successful.

    Race in the UK is NOT THE SAME as in the US. In the US the majority of you guys go by the one drop rule thereby that girl in the video who said her mum was black and her dad was white would be called black. In the UK unless the girl calls herself black they are referred to as mixed not black. Both systems have their flaws because how much black blood does someone need to be considered black in America? Do you need to look at least slightly tan or can you look fully white but have a black ancestor? In terms of the UK one most people use the shade of your skin and your hair texture. If you are of a lighter complexion, with non kinky hair and you are not Caribbean then you are most likely to be called mixed. But if your of a lighter complexion but have kinky hair then you are called black. Both methods of categorizing people flawed because where do you draw the line that says who's black who's not?

    Everybody has pretty much got it spot on. It's not so much race anymore but class. I live in Hackney and at one point it was voted the worst place to live in England, not London alone, but England.
    Since then Hackney has seen a lot regeneration or gentrification and a lot more middle-class people want to live in Hackney. Hackney is seen as "hip" and "cool". I'm all for regeneration because it has brought a lot of business to the area and jobs too, but it's being done to the detriment of people like myself who have lived in Hackney our whole lives. The one thing I'm worried about is that with all the regeneration going on, I'll eventually be priced out of living in Hackney as all the rich middle-class hipsters that have swarmed to Hackney will drive the house prices up even more than they have done already.

    • @goonerpete4174
      @goonerpete4174 9 лет назад +1

      Not just Hackney matey, you'll be priced out of London. All those moneybag "cool" people want there second home here for the weekends they wanna "pop up to town " and all the new properties they build are way out of working class peoples pockets.

    I dunno how it is in UK but i leave in UAE and I find British to be really racist and to think they are better than anyone. I didn't know much about british people before coming here but I can say now I would never want to live there. Let's say it probably doesn't help that class here is vastly influenced by nationality and most management position are held by British. But still... Well, maybe in UK they are different idk...

    • @TheBiggFrizzz
      @TheBiggFrizzz 10 лет назад

      It's usually lower class chavs or people who arn't educated properly who actually engage in racial abuse, many higher class people even in political parties are racist too, search english defence league for example. The majority of middle-working class people though don't care what race you are, as English society is multicultural and it's normal to have friends of multiple ethnicities, ultimately though, racism exists everywhere you go, Im british and don't care about what race or background you have, and I know many people who arn't racist. It's best not to categorise how people are by what you may have heard or what you think people of certain nationalities are like. If you think about it, by saying you find British people racist, you yourself are becoming a racist, as I can confirm we are not all like that. Don't let one bad apple doesn't spoil the bunch.

    • @sossoft
      @sossoft 10 лет назад

      No, I'm talking about facts. Saying "I find" clearly implies I have observed. Come and live here and watch them act and you will see and hear how they speak. They will raise their voice to speak to Indians or Philipinos but be more polite when it is to Emiratis or other expats. It's not one bad apple but a whole bunch, dear. I don't care much how they act in their country but what I see here. And here, classes are often based on your nationalities which fuels race-based judgement. An employer will give better salary to a British and refuse to raise an excellent employee's salary because he's Philipinos. I don't care where a person comes from but where and how about s/he goes. I have little to no respect for people who are insensitive to social injustice. As for my comment, I was curious to know how they act in UK as it is very cosmopolitan. Thank you for sharing.

    • @TheBiggFrizzz
      @TheBiggFrizzz 10 лет назад

      Ah right, I've never been to UAE so I can't say anything about that, I thought you were talkling about British people within Britain (my mistake), of course you could only form such a view by witnessing some form of racism in person, I was just letting you know we aren't all racists, hence "don't let one bad apple doesn't spoil the bunch" (not to be taken literally), I couldn't really make out what you were pointing at but I thought I'd get my point across anyway. You're entitled to your opinion, if you think all British people are/aren't racist fair enough, nice speaking to you :)

    • @sossoft
      @sossoft 10 лет назад

      TheBiggFrizzz No worries. I've also seen Black British nationals in Dubai who experienced racism (physical altercation resulting in hearing impairment for ex) in UK that's why I was curious abt there. I think there is also a difference between prejudice and racism hence not everybody is racist. Thanks for sharing too.

    First video I've seen in this series but I think it's fantastic. I absolutely LOVE the switch off between those who either don't want to be honest and speak from the heart or are just too ignorant to know what's going on around them versus the people who are just dropping the truth or at least what the truth seems to be. Oh, and Ryan Hall is pretty d-o-p-e.

Perhaps the problem is where you are residing or just hanging out. There were so many Blacks everywhere I went and I was treated so well by all the groups(Asian, African, Jamaican, Caribbean, White) and was so respected by them that I am truly considering a longer stay. Nobody questioned why I was proud of being an American , they expected that.
