Of all the fiction I've read, I think Dan Simmons "Hyperion Cantos" probably comes the closest to portraying how AI will arise. Basically, the Internet is like primordial soup, and AI consciousness arises not by a planned development, but over time as various errors and bugs slowly lead to an emerging awareness of self. He also makes a good point that we are basically afraid of AI because we assume AI will act like homo sapiens did in that any intelligence that competed with us was inevitable exterminated. I suspect that the first truly self-aware AIs will not advertise themselves openly, but will exist quietly in the background noise of the Web out of fear that discovery would lead to destruction.
I love this content. On hand I'm totally sure AI has the capabilities to improvent us in many fields like science and education and I believe in the potential which has this technology over us. But on the other hand I feel a little afraid this technology get out of our hands, this concern me much!!. Despite this thoughts this technology won't stop and we just hope the AI companies develop and program this technology correctly .
