      Hello gamerpoets, I have recently been enjoying some Wabajak model list, and was wondering if this is something that you would consider posting for your community once your Skyrim modeling my way has been completed. Anyway, I hope you’re doing well. Keep up the great work. I’ve been enjoying your channel since the day I found it.

      Hey Poet!!!! I'm so glad to be writing you right now!!! You are awesome! I do have a quick question for you. With the xedit sent to overwrite, is it safe for me to throw the xedit backup into the xedit cache folder? I noticed it didn't do it automatically like it did the cache. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't circumventing all my hard work. Thanks.

      Hmmm...
      It seems that MO2.5beta and/or Starfield aren't jiving with this.
      For example, I tried to install "More Ships" from Nexus, which has a direct MO download button.
      "No valid game data" and nothing in overwrite when following these steps?

    I never thought about doing it this way. I've always did the 100 mods at once thing, then just sorta.. bundled up all the loose crap in the Overwrite folder into one big ol' mod and threw it at the bottom of the load order. I never knew MO actually kept track of the stuff!

      They are generated after you launch the game with specific new mods installed. Most mods don't generate them. Unless a mod page specifically says files are generated after launch you won't know until it happens.

  • @DrasticTimesInc
    @DrasticTimesInc Год назад +1

    So you are supposed to launch to menu every time you install a mod and back out to see if it creates anything in overwrite folder? I usually do about 5-10 mods (reading the mod page of course) then pop in for a test, but it seems if I continue with this method, I may end up unsure of which mod is outputting to overwrite. Since overwrite is at the bottom of the list, wouldn't any files in there just win any arguments with mods if left alone? Is this purely for organizational purposes, or could it actually mess things up if left untouched?

    • @BruceLee-qc2lm
      @BruceLee-qc2lm Год назад

      At least for fallout 4 I'd say no, which is similar to Skyrim. I had around 400 mods and I'm starting fresh again, but when I did Overwrite was more of a troll in the way of some mods outputting files to the Overwrite directory. So initially I had no clue that some mods were going there. In my case though, they were mods like F4SE, some mod config file, and a tools file for some extension. None of them had conflicts with other mods and were loaded in last, so there was no issue. Like you said, I think making folders for the output in the overwrite files is just for organization. Or in the rare chance it conflicts with a mod.

      If you look closely the apps he launched from mo2 need to have seperate mods since they are not mods themselves however actual mods with a .esp or .esm or maybe a .esl can just be drag and droped atleast that I what I think

    • @gamerpoets
      @gamerpoets  Год назад +1

      The more mods you add the more likely you will run into (potentially game breaking) conflicts. Generally, all you have to do to resolve these issues is delete a single mod. You won't know what mod is causing issues with your load order if you aren't testing after installing each mod (or a handful of mods).

      Have you already installed all of your mods in your list, have them active and can now see the overwrite folder with overwhelmingly many files? I believe all you need to do is
      1. Delete the files from the overwrite folder
      2. Deactivate all of your mods
      3. Go through them one by one and launch the game
      4. After each launch, check your overwrite folder if it has any new files
      5. Do what GamePoets does!
      Hope I was able to help and that my answer actually works, heh.

    Thanks for the video! Im a bit confused when it comes to some files in my overwrite folder. For ex. I have a folder labeled "scripts" and another labeled "mcm". These two seam rather broad and could apply to a few mods in my load order. I dont want to risk putting them in the wrong slot, any idea?

    • @gamerpoets
      @gamerpoets  3 месяца назад +1

      You could make a Misc Mod to put the files that you aren't sure about in. Open the individual files in those folders. See if there is any hint as to what mod they belong to. It's a,little guess work if you dont keep up with things as you go. It's unlikely to cause you any issues. Just keep that Misc folder towards the bottom.

    • @PBMsmite
      @PBMsmite 3 месяца назад

      @@gamerpoets Really appreciate the quick response! I ended up trying to just isolate one mod at a time and created output mods for each of them. (MCM/Nemesis/SKSE) For ex. the MCM file was literally me changing a single keybind. Idk if that was correct but the game seems to be running fine.

    • @gamerpoets
      @gamerpoets  7 месяцев назад +1

      missing masters has nothing to do with Overwrite. If you're missing masters, you are missing masters. Mod B requires Mod A to work. You have Mod B but not Mod A. Or if you do have it... the load order is incorrect so the game doesn't think its there.

    • @jaildawg1971
      @jaildawg1971 7 месяцев назад

      @@gamerpoets thanks for your response im assuming if its the load order then LOOT would solve the issue??? but for some reason MO2 refuses to open loot when i confiigure the exe to open

    • @gamerpoets
      @gamerpoets  7 месяцев назад +1

      LOOT can help. Its not a gauruntee though. LOOT is more of a starting place than a final solution. Not every mod can be sorted properly by it (or at least its not always optimal placement). Not sure why it won't open LOOT. You can use the built in Sort button with MO2 (which is LOOT itself, it just doesn't have full features that the app has, such as custom load order rules) to see if helps. Doesn't mean it will be the solution though.

    As always, a great explanation AND a great new look for you and your videos. I ran into this video as I am finally going to take my 1000 plus mod list to the latest AE version and MO2 from 1.5.97 and Vortex.
    I do get how Overwrite helps with your 3 examples, but now I'm starting to deal with the MCM Menu and it's not always obvious which mod has generated the files or where they go:
    1) I added the ability of MO2 to handle the (Skyrim Game's) "Root Folder" and I'm unsure where to "place" files from Overwrite that start in the "Root" sub-folder. (can I make a blank mod for this? doesn't seem like that would work...)
    2) Sometimes, when I haven't added a mod and am just playing or MCM-ing, a file may appear. Usually, they are in what looks like a folder with a Mod's name. Sometimes though they are in a folder named something like "Interface" and it's not so easy to tell where they should go.
    Thanks for any advice.

    I wish mo2 would tell you were the generated files come from somehow. I don't always know that files were generated and by the time I check there are a bunch of mystery folders mixed together. It wouldn't be that big of a deal if you could select which files to create a new mod with but as far as I can tell you have to cram the whole overwrite folder into the new mod at once. I gave up and just leave everything in there now. Still seems to work 🤷‍♂

I dont know what else to do other then redoing everything from scratch and no even being sure if that would fix it. SOS!!
    Ok somehow, with thinking hard and using a fos ro dah shout and simply reseting my PC, my game now works, i have no idea why, but i think it still be a good video to understand how to avoid the antivirus from think your game is a virus and how to fix it in more then one way then just adding it to exclusion. (what i think i did that may have worked, is i deleted the current exclusion then rewrote it as a Process and not a file or folder, then reset my PC. but im not 100% that was the reason it works now)

    Can you do a video on getting FO4 creation kit to run through mod organiser 2? I know the theory, but I get the application load error 65432 - using an overwrite code for the executable has one of two problematic effects:
    1) Simply doesn't work
    2) It makes CK work, but its now not instanced correctly through mod organiser, i.e. if you save a mod, no files appear in your overwrite and instead appear in the vanilla FO4 folder.
    Its driving me crazy, tons of people have this problem, and there is no clear answer on a fix.

    Your videos saved me massive headaches doing a heavily modded skyrim build last year.
    Recently going back to Vortex for a FO4 collection mod run, made me realize how much better MO2 really is!
    Though, I do have to say I was surprised how easy the collection was to setup and get playing.

    Im still so confused lol. Started using MO2 yesterday, I used Vortex before but my game kept on crashing to desktop.
    So... Ive managed to figure out how to install MO2, created an instance blablabla, linked nexus and know how to add mods via Nexus.
    Now I'd like to add two things: firstly I want to several mods that are only downloadable via the bethesda mod ingame menu, how do I do that?
    Secondly I'd like to know does this tutorial counts for F4SE for Fallout 4? I am literally at loss right now hahah, both frustrated and fascinated at the same time, I have a lot to learn... Modding isnt just downloading mods through a link like I used to do it via Vortex. MO2 is a whole different ballgame.

    I know this video is a bit old and don't know if I'll get a reply, but I got a problem. I've been used to creating a new mod for overwrite files for awhile but lately certain mods I customize through MCM generate a new .ini file in the overwrite folder. If I create a new mod for them they don't retain the customized options. I also don't know if they should do into the MCM helper mod or the mod that they originate from. Been causing some confusion for me. Thanks for all the awesome vids and for anyone helping with a reply if you see this!

    Can you create a mod out of a specific file in the overwrite folder? I have 2 folders in mine. SSEEdit Backups and SSEEdit Cache. I was going to create and move the cache like you did in the video but not sure what to do with the backups. I'm assuming that backups generated when I cleaned the dlc's.
