Good evening everyone! Welcome or welcome back to this weeks meals of the week folks :) I hope you’ve all had a good week! I’ll join you down in the comments for a wee while :)
I love how you put yourself on blast for forgetting to thaw stuff for tea, but then you improvised like an amazing jazz cook and pulled together a delicious looking meal. 🤤 Your meals always look so tasty! Thank you for sharing your kitchen with us. 💖
She's fab! There are a bunch of Scottish dishes that have ended up in Ontario. Growing up, in the 1980s, we ate Poor Man's Stew/Hamburger stew, meat pies, soft boiled eggs, cottage pies, that sort of thing. Oh, and for Thanksgiving, my family always makes turnip ("neeps").
Having a wonderful Sunday morning now that I’m sitting down with a cup of coffee and spending time with one of my favorite communities. Hello everyone. Blessings to you !!!
First time writing. I love your meals. One thing I could suggest is for your burrito meal; for me what makes a good burrito meal is actually the sides. I use a crock pot and make my own beans, when they are finished and soft I mash them and put them into a hot cast iron pan with just a little bit of the bean water and some lard. When the liquid is gone and the beans are sticking a bit to the bottom I add a bit more lard and cook them a bit more to make refried beans. The home made beans with some rice made with broth and small pieces of tomato tie everything together. Thank you for sharing all of your meals, it's always fun to tune in and see how beautiful your meals are plated. Love it! Take care!
Thank you Cheryl for these wonderful videos, I rarely comment but I do enjoy them all. They are presented so well and your meals always look delicious. I especially love the use of sauces and gravy with your meals.Thank you for including the clips of the area as well as your restaurant meals. And of course, the occasional glimpses of Jasper. I hope you have a great week!
The Soup, Crisps and Sandwiches is definitely a dish I've incorporated into my household. Suffering from a minor stomach condition I sometimes have to have a night off typical dishes. I find rather than starving myself, if I use this combination it allows me to settle my stomach and have a bit of a reset. It also means we don't have to have separate dishes - so thanks for the inspiration as prior to this I'd always had soup for lunch with bread/rolls or as a starter course ha.
put your burrito wrap under the tap to get them wet and then toss into the microwave for like 15-30 seconds. It makes them very pliable and easy to roll with no cracking. It also helps to glue them closed a little better.
Great meal selection as usual Cheryl. I especially love soup with a nice substantial sandwichas a main meal. Far less cooking and just as nutritious. Great job with rolling up your burritos so neatly. Mine always look such a mess! A tip you might like to try for your slow cooked beef. Might be too much of a stretch to try this with brisket, but if it's silverside, I always part roast mine and then slice it and pop it into the slow cooker. That way it slices neatly and stays in slices, but they still become as lovely and tender as cooking the entire joint and still make the most amazing gravy.
I live in Carlisle cumbria and to my knowledge a Cumberland pie was a mash and cheese topped pie that contained Cumberland sausage and onions ... I feel like I've been lied 2 my whole life lol 😂 . Great recipes cherly good meal ideas thanks as always x
How is it possible that two whole months of the year are gone already?!?!?!? Do you know what I mean, Cheryl? I liked your roast. My go to for roast is an eye of round roast, liberally covered with garlic powder, onion powder, ground thyme, and black pepper (no salt, as my Mr. is on a low sodium diet) dry roasted in the oven using an internal temperature gauge. The other thing we do differently is no gravy….but lots of salsa!
Thank you so much for sharing your meals look so tasty it helps me alot on what meals to have dewing the week. I love your choices on meals. It makes me want the same.
I’m with you ..I never do roast on a Sunday any other day of the week .. my Great Grandfather started it ..saying he couldn’t see why the woman had to work on a Sunday when they work as hard as any man all week , so need a Sunday rest as well …
Hi Cheryl, regarding the 'sunday roasts' I think it's because not everyone has Sunday off work. When I was a kid it was traditional but nowadays more folk work all sorts of hours. Personally I think it's a shame because the traditional Sunday lunch brought the whole family together. But as long as families can get around a table together that's all that matters regardless of what day it is.
Regarding the XL wraps, the 'mission' brand of wraps now do an XL size. They're noticeably bigger than normal ones, they'll be at all the big supermarkets but not at ALDI or LIDL.
Good evening Cheryl & thanks as always 🙏 for sharing your delicious meals of the week, all looked utterly scrumptious & beautifully presented. Would be interested in seeing you make the burritos 🌯, as it’s something I’ve never attempted to make before. Look forward to watching you recipe for soup 🥣 on Thursday.😋 Take care & hope you have a great week. xx 👩🏻🍳🍲👌👌💕💞🩷
Thanks Cheryl, you always give me confidence as well as ideas, like if I dont want potato with something then veg with a sauce or butter can make it more, or add breadcrumbs and cheese to make a cumberland pie! Great video, and the soup looks nice even though i dont ever really choose soup, I think i like corriander though. X
Interesting to see everything stirred together before it’s wrapped up! But that’s a great way to avoid the dreaded uneven burrito distribution- one mouthful all beans and another only sour cream 😆
I couldn't imagine that Eric my mam was always home and we had a cheap healthy meal with cheap pudding. Bread pudding, jam tarts etc. As a child you think all families are similar to yours
Everything you make looks amazing! I would eat it all. How do you make so many steamed sides? Microwave? or what tools or appliances do you use? Do you have a lot of pan washing afterwards? I’d love to see videos of cooking the whole meal, or cooking techniques. Also the sauces and gravies those look amazing I’d love to see how you do those. And even how you use the air fryer. I’d love to make these meals all the time but I don’t like to have a ton of pans going at once unless it’s simple stuff, so I’m wondering how you manage it all?
Your Chicken Burger dinner looks delicious. Roast Beef Plate is great with the steamed vegetables. I love soup and sandwich. Air fryer grilled cheese is outstanding. Cumberland Pie with mashed Swede looks yummy. We love Burritos. Yours are really stuffed and looks great. Macaroni and Cheese is always a great choice. That Pizza bread looks good. I love your Steak pie plate. I love peas and cauliflower. Love YA.
I have maade the cauliflower cheese a couple of times and it have become one of my favorite side dishes. I also like to eat the leftovers for breakfast or lunch the next day. It's amazing!
I was watching on my phone as my computer was misbehaving and I couldn't see where to comment! Now all sorted. What a fabulous week of food. Did you heat the wraps before assembling the burritos?
My mom never had a roast every Sunday growing up. Other days were fine to have it and only once in awhile . When i got married, I didn't do the Sunday roast, and still don't. Just not my thing.
Aldi also do fresh chicken burgers in the chilled section which I highly reccomend they are made with minced chicken and they are wonderful. I also reccimend their tuscan style pancetta and lentil soup. Just got it for the first time last week and OMG it's amazing!! 😋😋😋. Going back this week for an extra few to pop into my freezer. Thr brand named old el pado wraps are a pure rip off....no difference at all between them anf the tesco or aldi wraps and zi fund they are nuchal more brittle and liable to rip and tear when u try to roll them.

I’m Canadian and I was so happy to come across your page, this is closer to what my family eats than a lot of the American videos!

Make "breakfast burritos"--scrambled eggs, sausage (loose ground sausage meat), salsa. The freeze great--super quick breakfast when you freeze them.

You didn’t miss the carbs with the pie as the pastry is the carbs!
So are the peas

Just put your burrito wraps in wet paper towels, and microwave a few second, then they will not rip,or crack.
Next time you make that yummy chicken burger, add some crispy bacon and coleslaw on top of the burger - it’s to die for! x
Oh what a brilliant idea! Thank you 🤩
@@WhatsForTeaI love hot honey on crispy chicken and on pepperoni pizza.🏴🇺🇸
Wow nice vlog
A few of my friends were left alone to survive latch key kids. It's so wrong and I wonder what happened
I made huge pot of tattie soup today it hit spot and perfect as I am doing Slimming World tho I say myself yummy
I love your channel however Sunday Roast is a tradition that should be kept in my humble opinion
I always think a pie has enough carbs in the pastry, you don't need any more
Gosh, everything looked really good! Thank goodness, no one sees the awful looking stuff I put out lol
Aw, I'm sure it's great ☺
🤭😆Lol, sure it can’t be that bad, & it’s how it tastes that’s the most important thing!😊 But I agree that Cheryl’s presentation is always perfect!👌
How do you make Yorkshire pudding
What type of cheese was in the cheese sauce you had over the cauliflower?
Your tortillas were raw. Put them in a dry pan till browned a bit.
👍👍💖💖🙏🙏
I'm sure you could have cooked the breaded chicken so called burgers from frozen ???
What are Swedes?
Known as rutabaga in the USA
Why is your roast beef so well done?
Probably because it cooked 10 hours in the slow cooker. It looked heavenly. Yum.
It’s not roast beef it’s pot roast, nothing was roasted on that dinner, but it would be delicious.
🙂😋😎❤
