SAIIX Firstly, Rihanna has never proclaimed to be a role model for little kids, her music and her style has never suggested this, children are not her target audience. She just does her and that should be acknowledged and respected. Second, the responsibility of rape should not fall on what girls choose to wear. Women should be able to step outside in as much or as little as they please and still not fear rape. Don't blame rape on girls and how they dress.
Third the amount of criticism from women in the comments is astounding. There is nothing wrong with taking pride in your body and self. Rihanna is fearless, what she is wearing is revealing and still tasteful. She looks beautiful, glamourous and expensive. This is inspiring.
I honestly think that if Natalie Portman or some other popular, stick thin white model or actress did something as daring and brave as this the comment section would look quite different and the word inspiring would be used more frequently. I take no offense by this. What are clothes for? The core use of them is to protect our skin from harsh environments and temperatures. Then after this, to protect others and ourselves from diseases. But that's out of the context. Why is nudity and sexuality more taboo than violence? Why is it normal in tribes to expose more skin whereas in the rest of the world we cover our entire bodies? Is there an explanation for it? Why is it okay at the beach? Why is it wrong at the park? Why is it okay at a gay parade? Trust me ladies and gentlemen, 40 years from now, people will look at this the same way we look at girdles. It was inappropriate for the time period yes.
