All of our videos are made to empower you to break free and LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE!
I grew up foraging berries with my Cherokee mother. She made elderberry jelly which I never liked. When I learned how high in vitamin C it was, I foraged some by the side of a country road and went home and made a tincture. Wow! It’s better than the expensive hard bitter supplement I was trying to choke down every day -I had chronic sinus problems and the tincture fixed that! 👍🏼
My grandmother made into jelly too but she combined the elderberries with blueberries. It was yummy!
Hi truthseeker! I am too a truth seeker always.
I love your health story and now we can all spread the love amen sister! Robin in NC USA
It’s safe for animals too. I have a 21 year old cat who had a sinus infection and I gave him a drop of elderberry in the morning and one at night and after a week he was more healthy before he got sick. ❤
Even for dogs ?
Stacy you should plant them behind the bee hive along the fence row. They would provide shade and a wind break in summer for the hives and I am sure the bees would love the flowers.
That's an awesome and great 👍 idea and that will be pure elderberry Honey 🍯 yeah !!! and make a video 📸 too .
Love your videos !!!
Elderberry honey would be so wonderful!
Great idea 💡 👍
Good idea 👍💡
I bet Elderberry Honey is aahhhhmazing!!
This is the first time I've heard that American Elderberry has no cyanide vs European Elderberry. Time to do some research on this! Links to info would be much appreciated 😄
There's also sambucus canadensis (canadian). IDK how to identify one vs the other but some are red, blue/purple or black. I believe black is sambucus nigra (European).
I think he said American elderberry has a lot less cyanide, than European elderberries, not that it does not have any....
I make elderberry products for my farmers market business. Last year, I started making elderberry chutney. Customers loved it and came back for more! 💜
Hi, i would love to make elderberry chutney. Can you send me the recipe please?
I live in So. Illinois, Elderberry grows everywhere. Thanks for the new ideas.
We grow Elderberries in Ireland 🍀💚🍀💚🍀💚🍀
I learned so much about American Elderberries in the first 10 minutes that I went straight to River Hills Harvest site and ordered cuttings and a elderberry honey kit. thank you so much for sharing so much good information and for being such a joy to watch.😊
Elderberry is one of the medicines I use for my mast cell disease. I'm growing my own now, so this video is perfectly timed as they just arrived as bare roots in the mail!
Where did you purchase from?
Where did you purchase from please ?
Ive been looking and they are hard to find ,
My oldest son 36 told me about it last year as his friends wife makes jelly from theirs but they live in Oklahoma, we are in Texas,
Id appreciate anyone telling me where to buy Elderberry plants, roots etc ...to plant .
Our farmers market there is a farmer who sells the juice a quart for $40 .
He said take a tablespoon a day an it would last a month ....
God bless us all .
We all need this .

@@bkdill51 Stark Bros is where I purchased mine from. I have them in a root bucket and they are already sprouting. Will plant them in late May or early June.
@@jtharp9265 I ordered them from Stark Bros. I can't wait to grow my own, it's been a lifesaver for me along with quercetin.
That’s where I got mine
AWESOME AND GREAT VISIT WITH STACY AND MR. NINJA! THNX SO MUCH FOR SHARING . . .
I didn’t realize I should cut down so far! Awesome info!!!
I like how he gives back up history on the elderberry that is so important to learn
I look forward to making the chutney.
@@nanc2762 hopefully yours come in nicely for you!
My whole family watch you we sit together and share your wealth of knowledge and love ❤️
Awesome We bring families together ❤
Last year when my wife and I were picking our elderberries one of the branches broke off. We decided to try and propagate some of the broken branch. We did the cuttings and boy did they take off. I later planted them and can't wait to see how they are doing right now. Thanks for this information on how to use our elderberries in more ways than just jelly. I plan on trying these and especially the ones with honey since we are also beekeepers. Thanks again for a great video.
I wish you guys would bring out several volumes of books covering everything from building a home to preserving elderberries. They'd be popular I reckon! :)
Stay tuned
Or DVD video series.
About a year and a half ago we made some Elderberry Syrup (Elderberry, honey, clove, ginger). I diluted it down to a specific gravity of about 1.100, added yeast, and turned it into wine. After bottling it, we stored it in a nice dark place and forgot about it until about a month ago. Absolutely the best wine we've ever made. Full bodied, fantastic flavor. We're down to one bottle and I'm regretting not having started another batch or two.
Time to get to it! I'm glad it turned out well❤
We got 5 trees started this year and I'm amazed at how fast they are growing!
Where did you buy your trees? Trying to get started but don't know where the best place to purchase would be.
@@jennifergrimes4927 I got mine off of etsy. Let me see if I can find the seller! They were the healthiest trees I've ever bought!
I live in MI, looking for anyone else that is growing Elderberry.
Might be interested in bartering or just buying if their selling.
@@christinegeorge8232 i just ordered some cuttings on Etsy. They were quite reasonable and I found one with free shipping.
Doug and Stacy, great video. Thanks for having Terry on.
This is the most comprehensive video about growing and using elderberry I have seen yet!
Make sure and share it and thumbs up
Elderberry is the favorite snack for all my birds! So glad I ordered starts from Terry!
This is so timely! I just discovered that the shrubs that have been annoying me for years are American Elderberries! I did a 180 real quick. I spent about an hour clearing out all of the dead cane and only left the live ones but now I know I can go through and cut them down to the ground and they'll grow! It's February here too. Like I said, perfect timing! Thank you!
Terry's great , Thank You for having him fun today learn this 🎉
I started my day today with a cup of elderberry tea, then i saw this. :)
I've gotten so many berries from my Elderberry plants that I had to make juice from them to free up space in my freezer! I canned about 9 quarts and can make things with the juice any time I want.
I got elderberry starts from River Hills Harvest and now every year I harvest and make my own elderberry syrup.
When did you order your starts from them? I’m sure there’s a season they do all the cuttings. The only thing available right now is a pack of 100 and I certainly do not need that many.
I was so excited the spring to discover I have three elderberry bushes on my property. Can’t wait to harvest them.
I PURCHASED these branches from this company! They are wonderful!!
We’ve been cooking the berries for years believed they were toxic otherwise!
Who knew!??? Thanks AGAIN to Doug and Stacy!!! Blessings on you all!
I ordered my elderberry for spring planting. Thank you for all you do.
This is one of the best programs you have done. Terry know his stuff. I appreciate the ones you did with him. Have a great night tonight and a great day tomorrow.
I have an elderberry that’s going to produce fruit this year so this was very timely for me. Thank you. BTW. I was watching a RUclips about the Amish community and they showed a picture of Doug! lol x
My dad made elderberry blossom as well as elderberry wine every year. 5 gallons each. Wonderful unique flavors. I continue that tradition today. For medicinal use only of course.
By
Wine sounds appropriate. In a pie too bitter.
How may I both purchase this and learn to make this as well ?
I just started my first batch of elderberry wine. I was wondering if you had a gummy substance in the must whenever you racked it off. I've made cranberry, blackberry, concord, reisling, and kit wines before, but 1st time for elderberry.
recipe?
This is such a cool idea. So many benefits, and here in the Midwest so easy to grow. And you can make money.
Thanks Stacy. So nice to see you hosting him on your channel again passing on his message.
God bless you.
would u pls outline WHY this is a good thing/so many benefits? half in and zero reasons why they are good...just commercials to endure hoping it will be stated clearly.
well, i guess it is time for my own research. the title said everything you need to know but not all of us are growers, know what tinctures are for or "so many other benefits" ergh. I saw a jar for $20 organic and had hope to know what it is used for ....
Elderberry is used medicinally in cough and cold compounds, even commercially. They have a great amount of antioxidants. When I have winter colds I drink elderberries with colloidial silver. It is worth extra research. I am sure mentioning too much medical info gets the you tuber in trouble and possibly demonitized.
@@sharoncaldwell2204 thank you for taking the time to reply. You are appreciated! I expected more detail like the benefits and applications (metal removal from jab, for instance, was clearly stated) of Bentonite clay, is all. I get it. I'll look elsewhere before I plunk down $20. :D
@@RattledEditor Check out her original video on Elderberry. Tons of great info.
@@ccrbonline1752 thank you soo much. Someone mentioned it within 5 mins of meeting him (Elderberry) and now you pointing it out...that'd be the 4th time it's come up. ring ring. clue phone! :D
I grow and preserve my Elderberries. Love them!
My mom also makes jelly from the flowers too...really really good
Love elderberries. The flowers, leaves and berries are all medicinal.
All I can see online is how leaves and stems are poisonous if too much consumed 🤔
Don't stop teaching Stacy and Doug! Most every video you make that I get to watch, teaches me a new nugget or two. Thanks Terry!
Why do you cut angled on bottom and straight across on top of shoot for propagation?
Hello Doug and Stacy, I've been watching your videos for a very long time. I just love you guys. Your experiences make me a better homesteader.
I have many acres and loving every inch of it. Thank you for passing along the knowledge you have learned about your animals and your land. They are very valuable experiences.
Much love from Central Wisconsin 🥰👋💕
❤
I just ordered clippings from Terry's site last week... can't wait to get them and get them planted....
I am glad to have found him through an earlier video where you were outside at a table talking to him. I got to see you touring the fields, bringing harvest in, watching the separator work, and placing cleaned berries into buckets. Terry also showcased his products, one of which was elderberry jelly! I thought to myself, now, would this be good as my grandmother used to make from her berries? I placed an order and received it fairly quickly! Ohhh my! It was hard to believe it! Just like my grandmother's jelly! I cried with happiness! Try some, you will be surprised! Also ordered juice. Kept me well all winter! Little goes a long way.
Thanks for having him show ideas for his newest products!
Our jelly is made from my grandmas recipe. We think it’s the best anywhere.
My mom used to make jelly and elderberry pie. I prefer elderberry pie over any other berry pie.
@@richhahn2443 ,
Elderberry pie is one of my favorites. It's right up there with lemon pie.
I have been trying to find that earlier video but no luck. Can you send the link for that please?
@@dianadougherty1082 yes I would like to see that older video also.
I didn't know there was an American and a European elderberry variety. I was told that one had to cook elderberries first due to what they explained as a toxin (pre-cyanide), so glad that's only with the European variety so will go with the American. Thank you Stacy for all the great information! :)
I love you how teach us, and I love Stacy’s passionate about living healthy.
We just planted our elderberries! Can’t wait!
Elderberry is true medicine. Great stuff. I personally feel the flower tincture is stronger than berry syrup though. However the syrup is plenty effective. Super easy to grow and highly recommend growing or wild crafting your own. It grows wild in mass all over my state of Florida. Look for moist areas.
After watching this program about elderberries, I went to Riverhills Harvest online, & ordered some elderberry cuttings to plant! I’m very excited!
I live in Maine, is the recommendation of cutting the plants to the ground annually apply to all climates? Thanks, love your videos Doug and Stacy!

Just found your channel not long ago. I'm in Missouri too. I'm really surprised to see how many content creators for homesteading are in Missouri. I think that's awesome! I've always wanted to try elderberry growing and now feel more confident doing it. Thanks a bunch!
Wonderful, my first time to know about the marvellous plant. Thank you and God bless you both. Nth Queensland Australia 🇦🇺 ♥
What a perfect name for a powerful and wise berry 💪
We made elderberry “juice” from dried elderberries and mixed with healing teas last Fall when we fought off some serious coughs & colds. We would drink some several times per day. Great to hear about the American elderberry!
Thank you Stacy . Thank you Terry. Stacy, I enjoy all your videos
Sharing is caring. I get excited to see your new videos.
I'm in Northern Ontario, Canada. I hope I find some elderberry. I can hardly wait.
Stacy , your wonderful. 👩🌾🌻🤗
Elderberry grows wild in the southeast. It grew in my front yard in Alabama I had one “tree” and it gave me a whole dishpan of berry clusters just one large wild bush!
I found them growing wild in Florida last year and I went Berry picking crazy and made two & half gallons of Concentrated juice. It keeps very well.
thinking of planting , Are they poisonous, ive heard some things.. just making sure. any response will be helpful
Wild here in Eastern Nebraska Platte river valley..
This was literally one of my favorite videos. So informative and so very enjoyable. Thank you
I love elderberries. My aunt in Ohio would dip elderberry flower clusters in batter and deep fry them, then dip them in powdered sugar. Yum! We had so many bushes, she froze the berries and we had pies year round. That was 60+ years ago and I sure do miss those berry bushes.
I knew elderberries were good in many ways but I've learned so much more since viewing y'all's videos. They're worth (y'all's videos) every minute. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make them. It's appreciated and y'all are too!
I just got a bunch cuttings from River Hills to grow at our new homestead in Missouri! So excited to get started
I found this very informative and it being so easy to plant, a win for sure for my future herb garden. One thing I want to know Stacy, where did you get your overalls. So cute!
I just stumbled onto this video. It couldn’t have shown up at a better time. I was just able to source some elderberry branches and now I know how to plant them! Thank you so much for this wonderful information! I took notes! 😊
Stacy excellent video. I watch a lot of videos for prepping but some go so fast and don't explain clearly.
But your guest was wonderful explaining how to plant the elderberry planting. The camera work was excellent, the close up shots about how to plant the elderberry plants.
Important to remember is some of us are new to prepping. So thank you for taking the time to explain and the close up shots.
Finally got this plant last year at a local plant swap meet and so looking forward to putting them around the barn! Such great info on them being good for the animals as well 🥰
This was such an informative video! Thank you for sharing! 🙌🏼
Planted my Elderberries, can't wait to see how they do here in Southeast Alaska.
Julie, do you have american? I also live in se ak and i have red elderberries
I have wild elderberry on my property and never knew how to use them. I also wasn’t aware that the American one don’t need to be cooked. Thank you for this information. I can’t wait for them to make this year.
We look forward to growing elderberry on our homestead. This is our first spring, so we may already have some here in Central Idaho. Also, I like to add elderberries in a second fermentation of my kombucha. yum
That sounds great!
I'm over by Elko ,Nv. I wanta as where did you get your elderberry starters from ? Thank you
Excellent, thank you both! I have been purchasing and giving my family elderberry for years but now cannot wait to make my own! What a gift for sure.
Enjoyed this video, filled with a lot of good information…. Thank You.
Love all your garden videos Stacey! Please keep making them ❤❤❤❤
I just bought some Adam's Elderberries from Terry because of one of the first videos you did with him. So excited to learn more 😊
What an amazing video jam packed with so much information! Looking forward to the day when we have a piece of land of our own when we start our homestead. Elderberry will be one the first things I start to grow!
So glad that are plant-like that can be utilized for several things. Thanks for sharing this video and your guests also.
My husband has chronic lyme disease and is in pain daily. I am going to try growing some elderberries to see if this will help. Thank you for information. Love the video.
I hope this helps him. 🙏🏾❤
Thank you for another great video, Mr. Photographer 😁 These recipes are priceless. Thank you for sharing with us. Best wishes 💐💙💙
This is my favorite video! The elderberries I bought from his website grow abundantly here in zone 6b. I picked berries this evening. Thanks, Stacy and Terry, again, it’s been several years since I watched this video for the first time.
Fantastic and Very timely! I have american elderberries coming next week. I have a little creek/ ditch along one side of the property that needs something to help hold the soil and create a hedge row.
It's so amazing what y'all teach us on your videos that I share your videos with my friends and family. I'm hoping they take time to watch. It becomes addictive. Thank you two so much for the old ways that's being forgotten. We are so grateful and God bless!
I have been buying elderberry shots at the store. I have never seen or even heard of elderberry until recently. Hopefully, I can find some and get it to grow here in Northern Michigan.
Oh my gosh!! I'm so thankful for this video!! It has kept me from even having a cold for 9 years!! Got me over pneumonia in 3 days made me a believer in 2013. This year is my garden for prepping year!
My cousin makes great home made Elderberry wine
My mom has an Elderberry bush. She makes jam with the fruit of course, but she also makes Jam from the flowers. So good.
We love ya Stacy! Thank you Terry! We currently are growing elderberries that someone gave us for free on marketplace
How cool, I just listened to an elderberry 5-day workshop series with Terry and others. I have an elderberry bush I can't wait to make my own juice. So glad I can feed them to my chickens.
We have the wild ones growing in my yard and woods and the chickens spend all day when they are ripe eating them. The plants are so thick that they make good predator protection too.
I did research about this berry years ago and I learned so much. Berries in general are all very very healthy. Awesome video. Thank you
I always keep an eye out for them when they bloom wild here in Indiana. I love watching them start to fruit and ripen. Love making wine and jelly with berries. But I've learned so many other things to make with them watching your channel! Hope to be able to have a place to grow my own eventually. Thanks for all this wonderful info. I must admit Terry's berry shaker system would make processing them soooo much easier and less time consuming.
Just went out and pruned my elderberries to start new ones. Thank you for all of this information.
Love the recipes!
Very interesting. Here in British Columbia we have a wild elderberry, a red one, which is poisonous if eaten raw. To use this one, I would have to learn to cook them. Probably much safer for me to get some American ones.
Pretty sure ALL elderberries are poisonous in large quantities if they are uncooked.
Poke berry looks similar and the whole plant is poisonous.
Poke is a medicine when you learn how to make it.
Thank you Doug and Stacy for sharing great knowledge with us!! You guys are neat people! Many blessings
This was yet another great one! Especially cuz I have 10 new elderberry plants waiting to be put in the ground! 4feet, good to know! And excited terry will be in Hannibal!!! ❤️ from Kristy in WP 😃🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸. If you haven’t gotten tickets to the conference, WHATCHA WAITIN FER?😂
I grow Marge elderberry, a hybrid. It doesnt run all over like the American varieties and stays compact. The berries are 3x bigger and disease resistant too! I love Marge!
Good to know! Thanks!
Oh!!! I’m so excited for this! I have 9 elderberry cuttings I bought from RiverHills and they are thriving already! Would LOVE to learn more about them!!
I have them in TN. Started with 5 plants and now they are all over. Glad you told me when and how to prune.
In the last few years we have been foraging berries in the mountains (I live in Oregon). Last year we found elderberries, I picked a lot. I have 43 quart ziploc bags in my freezer. I made elderberry syrup, my daughter did not get sick all winter (during the school year), my son would have faired better if he had taken a shot of it as well.
@@christopherkilian9763 Really? In the video they drank a large swallow of elderberry syrup, some would even call it a bit of a shot glass
OMG! Just doing some ground work on starting an elderberry crop here in Tasmania. This has been informative, and you guys have so much passion for what you do. Thank you so much 💚💫
Last year I planted elderberry cuttings from River Hills Harvest. I live in West Texas which can be very hot and dry, so i was very excited when one cutting survived. This year it is doing awesome and I'm so excited to see how it grows this year. At this time we haven't had rain since August, but it is still doing very well.
Hopefully you can take cuttings from your surviving bush/tree and plant more to make up for the lost ones.
Well....i just want to say thank you for all of the great information. It has been so much fun working on so many of your neat ideas. I LOVE your fermented ketchup! Keep up the great videos and God bless!
Thank you Terry and Stacy for educating me on Elderberries
and all the health benefits; and then sharing some recipes, 🌈🙏🥰
I am sooo glad I was able to get to watch you guys today I actually have those growing like crazy . I fish a lot, and everywhere there elderberry bushes are easy to. Get to. The great thing for me Is i Don't dig up anymore plants I just need to use my cutters and cut from the bush's and go home and stick them . So now I'll have them around my hen houses and on my property line. .I love to watch all your videos. Thank you .
You guys have been such a blessing y'all got me fermenting, kefir, kambucha and elderberries in a week thank you may you be blessed
Just planted my rootings from Terry. I've always been somewhat of a prepper/homesteader. You guys have definitely uped my game. Thx to you guys I'm fermenting (Masontops), using Redmond salt and bentonite clay and now adding to my BlackBerry n Blueberry crops with Terry's products. Thank you and God bless.
Here, in East-Europe we like our elderberries as well. They grow spontaneously in my garden. Luckly I discovered how useful they are just before starting to butcher them. I think I have to use them even more. Thank you for all the info!
WOW. I learned so much. Thank you. Going to plant me some here in Arkansas.
