    My friends. I bought a working ring light. This will be my last dark video! Thanks for the patience and happy new year to you all ✨
    How would you explain your own style in estatey-dog-walking-foresty-horse race-look terms?

    • @CreaNedda1
      @CreaNedda1 3 года назад +3

      The “Horse and Hound”- style… most readers of that magazine would probably wear that. I love that style too, but as a 59-year old, generously proportioned woman, have to use it very cautiously or it will go frumpy or matron-like on me in a split second… and that’s without the head scarf and the Corgies, mind you 😄

    Most people call that style English Country, you know: walking or riding through the fields and woods of a country estate, wearing slim trousers, leather riding boots or wellies, turtleneck (or shirt under sweater) and tweed blazer or quilted coat. This has always been one of my favorite aesthetics, it only recently became fashionable, but really is based on an outdoorsy, casual lifestyle. I rely on Ralph Lauren for this look, as I’m in the US, access to English heritage brands is limited, as are their sizes. This look is a big part of my classic aesthetic, but I often switch the trousers for a skirt. European Country would also be a good name for this look, too. The Duchess of Cambridge wears this style beautifully.

      Well thanks, English Country would have been so much simpler 😂

    I live in the UK in Oxfordshire. I know what you are talking about :D However the countryside estate/ equestrian look is a lot more muddy and well worn out in RL. Like you got this jumper your great grandma knitted and now you are wearing it! And you are super proud it's still going strong lol. What you are talking about with the images cited.... is the fantasy of the city folk version - what they think countryside life is like, rather than it's muddy laid back reality.

    I hate summer, too, which lasts at least six months here in California. I really only wear linen or viscose dresses, but never have enough. I’m always looking for simple ones that don’t require a lot of ironing, it’s such hot work, but essential.

    Another great video, thanks. My proof-of-concept items are: a silk shirt, except for in our hot summers; a knitted dress; a midi or knee-length skirt; and a blazer or leather jacket (generally not black, I only have one of those). I have a big wardrobe, but everything meets my criteria: comfort, fit, simple, classic style, and in my color palette. I love and wear it all. Your style might change, mine did, at around 58-59, I went back to the classic style of my youth, but updated and modern, of course. The only time I got into wardrobe difficulty was when I forced myself in another style, to fit in with others, no more of that.

    I would class my style as punk granny meets 90's kid, but I shop a lot at Acne Studios.....my most worn brand,,,muahaha!! I don't know either. Works for my diminutive frame. I am a summer human!!! I die a little bit each winter. I get through winter by watching and reading Scandi Noir by the fireplace, which I probably why I follow you. That, and the thoughtful approach to fashion and style. I can admire your style and learn things from you without copying.

    Fantastic point about gratitude and buying the actual item you really want. I discovered this to be true for myself too. I'd try to by less expensive dupe that just didn't stand up to my hopes but when I simply purchased the item I knew would work and loved already I found myself not browsing for the next best dupe. Great points thanks for sharing.

    Thank you for your honest sharing in this latest video. I discovered the importance of finding fabrics and colors that I feel comfortable wearing as well. I enjoyed your mood board idea and loved hearing about your aesthetic connections too. For me letting go of styles that just don’t flatter my body type was key to buying clothing that I actually wore, not simply admired in my wardrobe.

  • @shellbell8062
    @shellbell8062 3 года назад +2

    You are so right about finding "the best" of the items in a category that helps you to not make impulse purchases. For me that is T-shirts and short from Everlane. There truly are no better shirts and shorts (in my opinion) in the entire world. It's given me a slightly snobby outlook as I look at High Street clothing and constantly think "nowhere near as good as Everlane" and I am content.
    I have also focussed more on silhouette - as I am a rectangle, so buying puffy sleeves / oversized tops and A line shorts or skirts to cinch in the waist gives the illusion of a more hourglass figure. I have only just really discovered this trick and it's life changing!

    This was such a great and helpful video! I had been on a no buy, then binge purchased stuff I'd been eyeing at the end of it (sending me into another low buy), and have since been struggling with feeling the need to buy everything on my wish list right away. Your idea about expressing gratitude for the high quality pieces/pieces we value the most as a way to counter that urge to buy from the wish list is so helpful. I also love seeing your wish list - it shows me that I don't need to buy it all at once! xoxo

    Great points that really resonate with me! I also struggled with my summer wardrobe but living on the west coast of Canada we did not have very hot summers so I could use more of my all season clothes but now the summers are hotter and I definitely need to think about a summer "uniform"! Your moodboard is very interesting: I did not think of using landscapes, decor, etc as a source of inspiration. It might not work for me: I also love the 70's, 80's Ralph Lauren ads in the british style(walking in the moors with your dog, horseback riding and having tea on the lawn...) but the colour scheme is all wrong for me...
    I absolutely love the feeling of having a smaller, more cohesive wardrobe which is even very pleasing just to look at!

    Like you, I like simple classic clothing. Even when I was your age that was my preference. I did stray attempting to follow fad and trends but it just didn’t work. Stay with what you love. The style that you talked about liking in your video is a cross between English countryside and Ralph Lauren. My style icon is Caroline Bessette Kennedy it was in the ‘90’s and continues to be that way now.
