  • I stumbled upon these pyramids while recently heading to the airport. What do you think - merely piles of rocks formed by farmers clearing their fields, or something of far more historical significance?

Also from what I heard the piramids are made out of stones which were on the lands of where the sugar cane plantation was. The workers form the sugar cane plantation took all the rocks that was there and built these piramids. Am not sure this if the story is true or not but it does sound logical to me.

Thank you, Lucy, for sharing this fascinating video, I have noticed these stone structures in the past, but it never crossed my mind it that it is Mauritian pyramids, I find that it is very difficult that 80 plus years ago those stones have been gathered there randomly considering how perfect its shape and symmetry is.

I visited Mauritius in 2019 and took a number of photos of these structures. My (late) wife was from Port louis and had never heard of them until I showed her some pictures of them prior to visiting the island on our third trip. I saw these pyramids daily and it was just there, nobody bothered about them. There was no highway at that time and there used to be a stone crushing plant close to it. Most probably they are remnants of a de-rocking scheme which went awry, i.e they turned out to be too beautiful to be destroyed.

I have heard that it was the workers that piled these rocks. But when we think over it did they have that ample time to break these rocks and stack them perfectly. Just look at the alignment. Makes me wonder. I guess so serious research should be done here.

Lucy Leheilleix i think as long as you’re flying low you should be okay, though I do have to admit that some of your shots were a bit high up. The concern is if your drone flies away (software or hardware failure) and into the path of a plane given the close proximity of the airport. In all honesty I think it sucks as you can’t fly your drone over beautiful places like Blue Bay.

This is just a hypothesis, this has nothing to do with Egyptian civilisation or what.Infact these are heap of rocks commonly known as "meule" arranged in a pyramid structural way in the process of manual derocking of sugar fields in the early forties by labourers of the Mon Desert Mon Tresor Sugar Estate under the supervision of the field manager of that time a certain Mr Larcher of MDMT estate.
The area had plenty of rocks and this is the reason behind why a UBP stone crushing plant emerged nearby.

Antoine gigal built a hypothesis from pictures and google earth views of Mauritius and never actually came to investigate like a real scientist would do. Also she was not the only one to drew hypothesis, Semir Osmanagic came and say that it was built by ancien civilisation even before the first discoveries of the island by the Arabs. This guy is no archeologist, he is mostly a businessman who made money with creating tourist site by declaring crazy conspiracy theories about pyramids, he claimed to have discovered older and larger pyramids than the one in Gizeh hidden under mountains in Bosnia . 26 scientist from European Archeologist Association signed a letter to tell how much of a Hoax this was and to show the lack of scientific and academic discipline of this guy. It is under-estimate the intelligence and strength of Mauritian labourers to think that they were not able to built theses meules in 1944 and it is a lack of respect to the local scientific community to think that theses theories are relevant. There is records of local that have assisted the construction of theses pyramids, and there is notrecords at all of these pyramids in maps preceding 1944. So Antoine gigal and osmanagic are mostly wannabe scientists who got heard just because they are part of a social elite and privilege peoples who think they can come to Mauritius to explain to the dumb locals their own history.

Yes, these were built by Aliens and are their forthcoming landing sites. Come on ’’sea faring’’ people ? Tenerife ? These were built by the slaves and labourers who have been living on this island for the last 400 years. It is in the middle of a vast sugarcane field. They did not exist before the Dutch. The only ’’sea faring’’ people who would have discovered Mauritius before the Arabs and Portuguese are the austronesians who came all the way from Taiwan, Indonesia to Madagascar. The austronesians are not known to building pyramids.

As far as I was aware these stone piles which have become better stacked and organised over the decades by those in charge of the landscape. The volcanic rocks at the surface of the topsoil was removed for growing sugar cane. The stones were stacked by the field workers over many decades. They do not form or are set out geometrically to align with anything celestial .... I remember seeing the stone piles as far back as 1973..... they were more randomly stacked by then... Its quite "romantic" to think that they otherthan just a pile of rocks.....well they are certainly not linked to any Pharoahs (Egyptian) or Sacrificial cults (South Americas) :-0
