As a Mauritian, shame on people trying to scam tourists. They are an embarrassment for this country. Tip for tourists: tell them the locals told you the correct price before buying. If you see youngsters (they are more comfortable with English) going by, try to get them to help you and give you the price range for the goods you are trying to buy.
Mauritian Port Louis there are Indian and chinese community with different foods also vegetable Curry flavored spicy as well as a rich ethnicity culturally speaking
Hello guys... am mauritian and am so proud to see your video of my country... and so happy to see you enjoying real mauritian's foods... thank you so much...
I was waiting for this. You had the darl-poori a childhood favourite, that tomato based chilli relish. I’m surprised you didn’t get a chance to try pink icing cake, the shortbread one with a jam centre. Nah-po-lee-ten. The chilli bite aka chilli cake, ‘Gah-to-Pee-Mar’ another childhood classic. Po-po (not police) the papaya fruit tasted best in Mauritius. Good bartering skills! Mauritius sure has changed since I went, many years ago, glad you enjoyed 🇲🇺 ❤
I CAN COOK ALL OF THIS NOW MUM AND DAD IS GONE TO HEAVEN I WILL STAY IN EAST LONDON. THANK YOU AS I HAVE HEART LIVER AND KIDNEY FALIURE GOD BLESS EVERYONE WHO WISH TO VISIT. FROM GLADYS LAWRENCE AND OUR SON SIMON. LEFT MAURITIUS WHEN I WAS 4YRS, AND RETURNED BACK 2 VISIT AT 9 YEARS. IVE BEEN IN EAST SIDE OF LONDON FOR 42 YEARS. JUST RESTING WITH THE GRAND CHILDREN. Yeah you have to wake up early in the morning to get a Dal Puri! If you look across the beach in the morning there's always a massive queue of people lined up for them at the vendors. It's always powdery though! We used to just have it with some chutney and only really had curry with rotis.
For the noodles you have to put some garlic sauce to add and make it less sticky. But that isn't good noodles. In vacoas there is one, near London plaza. It is better. And for the dholl Puri and rotis I feel you have to taste the ones near the candos hospital. The rotis you tasted was actually a faratha. Not many Mauritians know the difference but yes.
Im indian, can you enlighten this Bengali indian. How expensive is Mauritius for us Indians? As of now i know its an expensive country with high capita but how expensive is it? I want to hear about it from local🫡, im planning to go there for fun.
Hi from a local resident. Just found your video (RUclips actually suggested me - and I'm so glad they did). Love the content, great explanations, nice bargaining, you almost remind me of Kate & Nara channel. I subscribed immediately. Looking forward to more videos like this. Thanks for coming to Mauritius and showing our culture to the world. Peace
@@dabbleandtravel I'm a Mauritian who lives abroad. Went back for holidays in December 2021 and got ripped off in the bazar for gellified fruits 😅 I realised it too late. Not a big sum of money but still, wasn't expecting it 🤣
Harriet and I found the food so good and the downtown of Port Louis very interesting, like a seaport town. Did you find it expensive ? How much do you think you spent in a day ? Food, Accommodations and Entertainment ? In U.S. dollars and Pounds ? It looks like you can bargain hard with the vendors. It looked very busy in Port Louis when you were there. P.S. It looks like you're open to visiting us here in Richmond, Va. haha . Sending you much love ❤from there Harriet, Jim and Yuki
To be honest, it really wasn’t that expensive. I think people think it’s really expensive because of the resorts but actually the local shops etc were really reasonable!! Thanks for watching!
Outstanding video of the capital city of Port Louis. Is it safe to walk around the city not just in the daytime? What hotel did you stayed in? No less than a 4 star in order to have central air, cleanliness, comfort, and security then off to the 5 star beach resorts which I have seen on videos the One & Only and the Four Seasons. Thanks again guys Louie from New York City metropolitan area in the grand ole US of A.
Rotis compared to Mc Donald's...Strange comparison 😂 Btw I work really close to the Jardin de La Compagnie...I've never tried Aka Rotis, but I surely will...There is a great roti spot a few streets ahead in Edith Cavell street
those shirts actually cost 350 -500 mauritian rupees and it's not even the best quality ! As a resident of mauritius i find it mindblowing that they make foreigners pay twice the price ! such a scam tbh > _
Peace be upon you. I really like your content very much. Frankly, even the method of presentation is very wonderful. I wish you success. I am following you from Algeria, with all my love. 😊❤❤❤
@@remxinstrong7060There are plenty of places across the island where you can buy mochis: 1. Try the Tribeca Mall, within the Winners hypermarket , in the Gourman d'Ile food section. 2. I know another place in Port Louis where you can buy mochis...Edith Cavell street, Fong Sing building...The stall on the left, it also sells bubble tea, milkshakes and french cakes.

It is sad how tourists go at Port Louis rather than the good local business producing good food. You can ask the locals rather than a guide. The guide only knows what we can make profit from.

Why do Europeans and Americans always think other places have no cities or buildings?
Maybe because Mauritius is small, like they don't expect it to be that developed
