Ahh the memories, I had 3 Fizzy's over a couple of years, Brilliant bikes, me and my mates on a Sunday, on my parents drive, removing and polishing the heads, just to try and get another 2-3 miles mph faster from it! Classic machines!
My first MC at 12 years old. A Hells Angel that lived near me helped me re-build the engine(overbored to just over 70cc of coarse) because the main bearings were rattley. Bloody thing was so nice by the time I had customised it all up, that when I had to leave it down a quiet road due to the chain snapping(It's hard upgrading the chain and sprockets now-a-days...was even harder back then) it got 'alf inched and I never saw it again. Couldn't miss it though so it never ended up in my area from what I can tell. It had a completely new paint job, frame and all, and the tank was the rounder style in matt black, with the thrash metal band Overkill logo down the middle, and was matt lacquered to finish it. It had a Yammy ER50 fork and steering head set with dropped handle bars, it had extended brake and gear selector peddles to the rear footrests...and no ped peddles...or front footrests. Pretty sure I got 55MPH out of that thing, but that was with the custom milled final drive sprocket and overbore. You were lucky to get 42MPH out of the standard spec...going down a hill hoping the rings wouldn't shatter. 😂
I owned an Agrati Garelli tiger cross special dark metallic green with a silver stripe on the tank with the high mud guards. Absolutely loved that bike.
Bought mine new at Kens MCs at Newcastle. Picked it up on 1st Sep 1974 and paid £188 which included an open face helmet and Fully comp at £5.50. I was just an apprentice then so couldn't afford the indicator option at £22! Kept it eighteen months until I passed my car test and sold it with 18K miles on it.
I like you I had a Garelli Rekord which was faster than my mates FS1E but no where near as reliable. Went through spark plugs like no tomorrow, replaced the main bearings and piston rings during the 8 months I had it too. But it was great period in my life having the freedom we had at 16yrs old before upgrading to a car (Vauxhall Viva) at 17yrs.
Went to Nostell Priory one Saturday with a mate (because I’m sure they had a bit of a bike museum back in the day). I kid you not, there was a long line up of purple FS1-E outside, never seen so many all together before or since.
Bought mine new in 76 , it was a sort of bronze colour. It cost £235 but I added some extras, a rack and crash bars and I think it came to £265 . Seemed like a huge amount of money to me at the time as I earned £24 a week full time on a farm .
I had a 1975 in the yellow but with white chequered so brilliant and reliable, max 55mph the Suzuki AP50 could do 60 and the awesome Fantic moped trials type thing could do 70mph. Mine got written off by another FS1e when my mate crashed into the back of me whilst I was stationary we both got up dusted ourselves down with just a few bruises 😂.
I couldn't afford a fsie so I bought a Honda SS50, reliable but slow. When I came to sell it, the 30mph moped law had came in so everyone wanted the unrestricted ones, so I lost very little money, and it helped me buy a CB250G5. I have a CB360 and a DT3 Enduro in my collection today, amongst my bigger 80's and early 90's bikes.
I had a Honda ss50, there was a metal slide/restricter in the carburettor you could take it our and cut it shorter, gave you at least another 10-15 mph.
What a collection of bikes😄 I had a 21bhp genuine 10w Rd125lc,in 86,loved it wished I still had it😄 But mate your touching the bikes too much😂 too many finger marks would drive me crazy😂😂
I watid till I was 17 and got myself a RD200 which was the dogs Bs at the time. So wish I still had it but still have the front number plate on my bike shed door 🤣🤣🤣
My wee brother had a Suzuki AP50 from the same era, I used it quite a lot. Imo the Suzy looked better than the Yamaha. His pal had a Fissie, replaced the 50 with a 100cc, removed the baffle from the silencer . He never noticed the police panda car that followed him right to his front door. It made enough racket to waken the dead.
I can't get used to see the Yamaha Fs1 with pedals, it looks stupid. They don't have that here in Denmark. I have two Yamaha FS1, and some other mopeds (Puch, Kreidler and Honda) and non of them are born with pedals in Denmark. And i think is the same in Norway and Sweden. 🙂
Suzuki AP 50 seemed to be the quickest (5 speed) moped in my experience having a slightly higher top speed than the FS1E. I myself had a Puch M50 Sport that was built like a 125 and slow 😂. I got a Yamaha DT when I was 17 and I wouldnt be here now if I'd had an RD 2000 or 250, lol.
My youngest brother's first bike was an RD250 rat bike First time out after he got it he was wringing its kneck down a long drag, to see how fast it would go, overtook a police car with four cops in it. They were pissing themselves laughing that he only noticed them as he drew level with the driver. Result was he lost his licence before he'd even applied for his provisional. You could run a 250cc then as a learner.
@@61js my brother had a red AP50, swore that on a long enough downhill, planking, flat on the tank, you could hit an indicated 60mph on it. From the day: "Like a fat chick, great fun to ride, but you didn't want your mates to see you"
I had the purple one in 1975. Loved it, put squillions of miles on it too, it got me home in a snow storm running for 3 hours without missing a beat👌

Someone might remember it...
@@bsimpson6204 You never know...but it was a long time ago. 30+ years now. 😔

I like your vids but you need to sort the sound out, get a clip on mic or shout !

@@richardneal102 I cut my slide, but my MPG was a lot worse, so I got a new one and refitted it. It was a wee bit slower, but back to 120mpg!
I had a Batavus 50 . It looked very similar to a fizzy, that went fast as well.
mine was a yellow 75 model had it 6 months and blew it up revving the nuts off it trying to do that allusive 60mph, they were the days
£265 in 1977 at nip ons on Whittington Moor, brand new. My nose use to be pressed up against the window.
Flat out down Dronny bypass.
@Freddie Bozwell Ha ha , yeah! I got 55mph out of my fizzy that I eventually got.
@Freddie Bozwell I was laid flat on the tank though going down dronny bypass lol

Yeah them days you could go from a fizzy on to a 250, had 1975 fs1e then got a blue rd125 twin, loads more fun on the fs1e lol 😆.
back in the 70's if you rode one of these to school you were branded a ' bender ' .

Do you have a Garelli tiger MK2 ? serious enquirey , !!!
i had 55 and may be a bit over with a big bore kit.... Usually went bank every few months thou :-)
Had a yellow, disc braked one new in 1976. Can't understand how they fetch so much now.

Ah, the boyhood first bike of most Brits ;-)
well in 1974 my dad bought me my fizzy and laid flat i could reach 60 mph on flat road,
TOP
I had the one before these an orange SS
Hey great video but maybe invest in a radio mic? You sound to far away and with distraction noise in the back ground.
