I may be among a small group but to me the lines and feel of a 1911 in the hand cannot be beat. It definitely feels to me like the most natural extension on my arm when shooting. You've got a great looking piece of history. Great video!
Agreed. I bought a 1911 about a year or so ago, and the first time I fired it, it felt great. This is just me, but the 1911 looks and feels like simplicity at its finest. Another thing that made me happy was when I managed to take it down, and then reassemble it after cleaning. It was nerve wracking at first, but that went away when I reassembled it, checked it, and cleaned it up/put it away.
Nov 22, I received my service grade, M1911a1 from CMP. A 1943 Remington Rand with a Colt National Match Hard slide with matching chrome lined barrel. From a USAF Marksmanship contract. All roll marks and inspection initials are legible. The Army Odrnance acceptance stamp has "MR" over strike, but is still partially visible. I am also waiting for my Round 4 RGN (47242) to get a second one. UPDATE 6/24 CMP now offering a Tisas 1911A1 "museum quality " U. S. GOVERNMENT marked companion piece to their military aresenal reissued M1911A1. They are for CMP qualified buyers. I already have the Tisas G.I. model BUT, another with US GOVERNMENT and CMP marked would be nice.
@@GearKnowHow You can send in a FOIA request to the Army and get some info on history. My CMP Field Grade Colt 1945 had official records available only back to 1995 but others have had better luck, going back to the 1970s.

I mailed the packet on 9/12/2022 and received an RGN (34042) email on 10/3/2022 and the selection call on 11/16/2022. It was shipped to my FFL, and I picked it up on 11/22/2022.

Yes technically, but it’s a piece of history so try not to.
These weapons were dry fired hundreds of thousands of times over their 40 year service life.
