- A fantastic afternoon spent at Didcot Parkway where we see no end of services from Great Western Railway, Cross Country and freight from Freightliner, GBRF and DB Cargo UK.
Didcot Parkway was built and opened by the Great Western Railway in 1844. When First built the station was simpky known as Didcot. It wasn't until 1985 when British Rail renamed the station due to the then new bus link that was brought in. Thus making it a parkway station.
The town of Didcot owes is growth and success to the coming of the railway, as the same year as the station being opened the line towards Oxford was also opened. This allowed greater ease of access for passengers and freight alike which meant the local economy was able to grow which meant more people could move out of the louder areas of the country and move to a relatively small community. But this eventually became a sprawling town with markets a plenty and houses popping up all over the place.
There was another line that lived here before it closed. This was the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway. This line saw a connection from the Great Western Mainline down to Southampton via Newbury, Highclere, Winchester and Eastleigh. This line though finally saw the end of its life in 1962 just before the infamous Dr Beeching report saw the closure of hundreds of rural lines across the UK. Many of which are actually in the process of being brought back into working life.
There used to a regular commuter service running to Swindon from Didcot Parkway that would call at Steventon, Wantage Road, Challow, Uffington, Shrivenham and Stratton Park. This was run up until 1964 when the service was terminated. Which then resulted in the closure of those stations.
1985 saw the current station building opened along with a 600 space car park to make the station more accessible, it would also serve as an entrance for the Park and Ride buses to pull into which would also aim to take traffic off the city Centre roads. This has still worked to this day and is very successful, however A new multi story car park is currently being built to the West of the station.
Unfortunately because of how November ended up along with the vast majority of December it does mean that this will be my final film of the year, I wished I could have gone to Clapham Junction to see the year out as I always do but sadly that just wasn't possible this time. However I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for continuously supporting my channel over this last year. This year has been Absolutely horrible for so many and I hope that my films have managed to bring some joy and happiness into your lives this year. I treat every one of you like my family and I truly wish each and every one one you a truly magical Christmas despite the news that so many of us have seen lately. I will be back next year with some more Trains At content, but at this time I can't say when I will be making my return. January is going to be a hard month for all of us, but please don't feel like you have to sit in silence, talk to as many people as you can and I promise you things will get better. Once again guys and girls thank you all so very much for supporting me this year and I look forward to getting back into the saddle for you all next time round.
If you would like to help support the channel you can do so by donating to the PayPal link found down below, any and all funds will go straight back into the channel to help better the content by allowing me to go further afield for you all and by just generally helping towards the expenses that go into channel.

Great Video as normal. 10:26 - "The Train's having a wee' one of the most remarkable and random things I think you've ever said 😂
Thanks very much, oh trust me I've got plenty more where that came from haha
Definitely the best train videos on utube
I have to say you videos have been absolutely fantastic to watch during this horrible year especially your yearly mainline series thank you for keeping us going during hard times 😊
Thank you very much for your kind words, it really is greatly appreciated
@@Tornado922 your most welcome mate easily by far my favourite spotter 😊
Thank you for your videos this year, I look forward to every video and they’ve helped me get through the lockdowns! :)
Thank you for your continued support throughout this year, it has been hard for everyone
Excellent railway video as always Tornado922, another great range of trains filmed.
Thanks very much :)
21:06 that tug looks brilliant in the sunlight 😃 and wave from the driver as well cheers for him 👍.
It was a welcome sight to see as I hadn't seen an operation class 60 for quite some time this year if at all
Woohoo finally after two videos we have one with a train that needs a clean lol. Another superb video. I hope your ill patent made a full recovery. I'm already looking forward to the next one. Great way to have my breakfast sitting on my tractor. Keep up the sterling work. Stay safe and thank you
I was starting to miss seeing the dirty trains haha, yeah he was alright in the end. He just had a low blood sugar level which made him a little uneasy but after 10 or so minutes he was starting to perk up. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas
@@Tornado922 well I'm very happy he's OK as I know only to well how he felt as I'm diabetic not a nice feeling. Great he had someone like yourself around him. We had a nice Christmas thank you but work on the farm continued even on Christmas day with our cattle herd needing feeding. Hope you had a great Christmas. Always a pleasure hearing from you. Stay safe
It's my lucky weekend. Birmingham City get battered by Middlesborough. Villa beat Albion. Tornado922 uploads a world class video. What a weekend. Seriously brilliant video.
You forgot to mention Palace 0 Liverpool 7.
@@alanmolyneux5957 Yeah but I'm not a Liverpool fan. I could change the weekend to start of the season and put 7-2. Or put Celtic beating Hearts for the quadruple treble.
@@ClaretBlueTrainspotter Hopefully the 7-2 will be an embarrassing footnote to an otherwise successful season. Merry Christmas to all whoever your team is.
Thanks for videos much needed this year, All the best for a Happy and Safe Christmas and the hopes for better New Year.
Thanks very much for your continued support this year, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a great new year ahead
Great videos 👍👍
1:34 "Bless you" LOL
Thanks lol
Damn!! That EWS logo is brilliant. (Equally as brilliant as the blue Pullmans crest)
I think the Blue Pullam crest would be the better of the two
Another brilliant video! I really enjoyed this :)
Thanks very much
Great video
Thanks very much
Hi mate another great video mate I really enjoyed it have a merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and your family mate stay safe and well mate goodbye for now clive
Thanks very much Clive, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you a wonderful new year
Another good video. Enjoy Christmas as best you can in the circumstances.
Thanks very much, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas
Superb video. Really enjoyed it. :)
Thanks very much I'm glad you enjoyed watching this
@@Tornado922 you're welcome. Hope you had a good Christmas. :)
21:33 The UN number appears to be 1203 which indicates that it's carrying (or, rather, has carried) petrol. I used to drive road tankers for Murco. I loaded out of Theale a few times too.
Ah right ok, thanks very much for the information :)
The memorial 800 seems to be dedicated to railwaymen who died in WW1.
That 800 is 800306 Harold Day & Alan Lennard Lewis
It is a lovely tribute
@@Tornado922 I know that it is a lovely livery the Great Western Railway have done
At 18:57 the number is 800008, I’ve been on #Trainbow before and I’m certain it’s that. It definitely wouldn’t be 8001xx because Class 800s with GWR only have 800/0 (5-car) and 800/3 (9-car) subclasses.
Well I must have been mistaken then
Don't know if you've been watching the Paddington series on Channel 5 on Monday nights? 800306 was shown recently being named at Penzance by Alan who was a war veteran. Very moving scenes.
I have heard of the series but I haven't watched any of the episodes
I was onboard 800 001 from Oxford to Reading. It was the 13.18 Hereford to London Paddington via Oxford
Hope you had a good journey
super video my new friend
Thanks very much
Ah, yes Didcot Parkway! :) A brilliant station where stopping, fast and through GWR Azumas travel to and from Paddington, Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Bristol Temple Meads and the South West and CrossCountry Voyagers and Super Voyagers go to and from Bournemouth, Southampton, Reading, Coventry, Birmingham New Street and Manchester Piccadilly. Looking forward to a better 2021.
This is one of my favourite stations to come to on the GWML because of the variety in traffic that you get
Excellent 👍
Thanks very much
Awesome 👊🏾
Thanks very much
You should go to Ashurst New Forest Thatcham and Alderley Edge
I'll bear that in mind
Great video & have a 🍺
Thanks very much
Other amazing video legend tornado
Thanks very much
Ahh Didcot. Tornado hits the spot again. And was that The Thing sneezing at 1.40? Pray tell Sir, what camera do you use for your splendifourous films? Mine always blurs the numbers. Excellent stuff. Thank you & merry Christmas 😁🎄😁
This is always a great station to come to especially when you get the timing right. I think it was my friend who sneezed at that time haha. I use a Samsung Galaxy Tablet for all of my filming, I hope you've had a wonderful Christmas :)
@@Tornado922 thank you sir. I shall order said tablet toot sweet. I thought you called your sneezing friend The Thing at Kings Sutton. Another brilliant video. Seasons Greetings to you both 😊😊😊
Put Didcot north Jct into RTT mate..
That 800 mate is 800008
Which 800?
Nice video! When will you be doing another Tf2 episode? That Memorial train was cool
Thanks very much, I have put up a further two films
800 008 is GWR's trainbow
I must have gotten it wrong then haha
Please Do Trains at Milton Keynes Central or Stratford.
I will do next year depending on how covid is and what tier each place is in
I don't think that Oh J. C. would be sending many trains anywhere!
Well you never know!
Great video mate, do you recommend WCML on Train Simulator 2021?
Thanks very much, yes I do it's a very good route
18:55 I have many things gwr don't opperate 800/1 also trainbow is 800008 so how did you get 800109
Well I must have been mistaken, I am allowed to make mistakes from time to time
@@Tornado922 I never said you weren't aloud to make mistakes I have done it before with 43188 the Welshman then I realised my mistake
Show a 66 and I'm watching ;D
ICL stands for Israeli Chemicals Ltd
I'll have to believe you on that one
EWS Energy reminding me of EWS Elektrizitätswerke Schönau: www.ews-schoenau.de/export/sites/ews/ews/.files/vorstellung-ews-englisch.pdf
The 800s really are garbage always breaking down especially along the Dawlish riviera line
can you not talking when trainsporting
Turn volume flat
Why not? Go to other channels then. There are plenty others who do that
