Thank you for bringing us several different voices on this topic. It reminds me of Tulum 30 years ago ... still mostly undeveloped, no 5 star super resorts, the corporations haven't found it yet. That's kind of a magical time for a place ... it's a moment of optimism. But I still think my heart is in Boquete ... a cooler climate, the sound of the river, the excellent high quality restaurants ... and Bocas is only a few hours away so I can visit for weekends, David in the other direction for shopping.
@@LivinLaVidaGypsea we are way down in Guarare, bought a beach lot for 6k, ( 1000 sq Meters) and another lot ( 1 Hectare) close by. - lots of room and no huge developments thank god....lol

Overall, Panama looks like a great place to retire except for the abundance of rain that it gets. I noticed in a lot of videos about Panama that it seems to rain like at least 50% of the year if not more in most places. I personally think that would be sort of depressing to have to seek shelter most days and not see the sun as often as you might like. I know personally, when it rains more than a few days a week here in the US, I feel sorta depressed and look forward to the sunny days like most folks do. The cost of living and other features of living in Panama seem enticing, but having to put up with all that rain sorta makes me hesitant to consider having to live there.
The Azuera Peninsula gets less rain than anywhere else in Panama. Most days in Panama, it start with blue skies and sunshine. If it rains, it usually starts in the late afternoon about 4pm. And it does not rain every day. Come see how amazing Panama is before you mark it off the list.
When I lived in Mexico, one of the first things I realized was what a BIG FAT rip-off America was. I broke a tooth once, and a neighbor told me about the dental clinic in the very small hamlet near where I lived. I walked in. In Spanish: "Do you have insurance?" "No" "Whats your name?" "Shine" "Ok, wait there". No paper work. No signing nothing. Very good young dentist who spoke perfect English (that he learned as a 'pro online gamer') There is So much about latin countries that we just don't have any idea until we are there. Best kept secret, I think.
How does a tourist visit and have an experience that isn't 'tourist'. I'd rather spend time with people like these, and take day trips than to feel like I'm surrounded by vultures that see me as ATM :( I wish
That's where an all-inclusive 6-day Panama Relocation Tour comes in! We do not do touristy stuff. The entire tour is focused on "what would it be like to live in Panama" panamarelocationtours.com/tours
I lived in Bocas for about 8 months and on Salarte for four months. I will never forget the diving I did there! Beautiful place.
Bocas is absolutely beautiful and so unique from the rest of Panama.

They did not use a realtor. They found the property by talking to locals.
looks like living in Bocas means living on one of the islands. Is that true? I don't see much around there except stuff on the islands.
There are a some areas where you can live on the mainland in Bocas but the best places to live are definitely on the islands.
How are the mosquitos and other biting insects?
Are there many single people living in Bocas?
Yes there are a lot of singles living in Bocas
