    An intelligent, compassionate brilliant woman talking about an intelligent, compassionate brilliant woman whose story was somehow lost and Kate has resurrected. Kudos.

    I was weeping and gasping as I watched this scene. My grandmother was kept in a concentration camp. She was that girl who never moved on, never spoke about it, yet was the kindest, sweetest person I’ve ever known. Thank you for expressing the voices of the victims of the Second World War. Thank you for remembering. And thank you for honoring their memory.

    Saw it today. A work of art and heart. Tony saw Titanic & said, 'If they make a movie about Lee, Kate Winslet should play her'.Thank you, Kate, Tony, and everyone. I hope it's very healing for people.

      Why must we always comment on how women are aging? Who cares? Why is that even worth remarking on? It's the least interesting thing about them. Leave women alone. JFC

    • @natashamulengahornsby9852
      @natashamulengahornsby9852 2 месяца назад +2

      I think ageing gracefully in this case is not a negative judgement. More that this is a mature woman, at the height of her powers, able to reveal hidden depths about another woman and another artist.

      I agree. I think leaving women alone in general is what Kate’s about. Weight, make-up, this stupid-ass expectation that women should be demure, delicate, and I guess never fart 🙄

    It's a little frustrating that more credit is not being given to Lee Miller biographer, Carolyn Burke, who spent years writing Lee Miller: A Life. The incident Kate, who I adore as an actor, is referring to here was covered by Burke. Burke deserves credit for her book, which is surely referenced in the film, even if not credited overtly.

    • @pluis59
      @pluis59 2 месяца назад +1

      I'm reading Burkes book right now. My breath literally stopped when I read about that fact in Lee's life. I didn't know...

    • @pohjiebarbosa
      @pohjiebarbosa 23 дня назад +1

      Her son wrote the book ten years before Burke, and it’s in his book which is related in this interview. Burke doesn’t get credit because she didn’t unearth it, Tony did, if I understand correctly.

    • @pohjiebarbosa
      @pohjiebarbosa 23 дня назад +1

      The Lives of Lee Miller by her son Tony was published in 1985. This movie was done with Lee’s actual son.

    I watched this movie and really enjoyed it but what I noticed was that it did not have the embelishments of some of her other films. I can't put my finger on it but I suspect it's because it was autobiographical and because of that won't be a blockbuster!

      At the age of seven, while visiting relatives, Miller was raped by a family friend, leaving her not only traumatized but also with gonorrhea, a disease that at that time was treated with invasive procedures that she endured with some regularity through adulthood.

      That comment is despicable. Nothing must ever be forgotten and buried so that isn't an "inconvenience". Plus, some newborns aren't treasures, since some become the Hitler's, the Stalin's, the rapists, the killers of tomorrow...

      You never heard of transgenerational trauma then. You give it to your children, if you dont heal in your live. So "forgetting" is not an option. It will be in your life or theirs subconsciously.
