It’s one thing to have a job that lets you interact with some of the most interesting people in our society, but…to sit between Daltrey & Townsend, joining them in a performance of one of Rock’s greatest songs… *ON TOYS* …that’s gotta be a memory of a lifetime.
I saw The Who in concert tonight and they said on stage that Jimmy reminded them both so much of Keith that it made them miss him all over again. Rest easy Moonie🤘🏻
Sarah Skupien How was the show?? We've got great seats in Atlanta in October..cannot wait! I haven't seen them in concert since 1975! Of course Keith and John willed be missed but I'm sure it will still be incredible! Cheers
That was NOTHING short of BRILLIANT! Fallon is probably the most bombastic drummer the Who have had since the passing of Moonie. Townshend smashing the uke as the cherry on top of the sundae.
Not a fan of Fallon, but this is by far the greatest thing he's ever done! Always great to see Pete enjoying himself, and Roger was brave to be within striking distance of the drum mallet that Fallon was swinging with the same reckless abandon that Rog' used to swing a microphone. Mad props to Quest Love and the Roots for delivering yet another solid performance!
He seemed better at smashing that playing it. This was really fun and Daltry killed it. Pete looked a bit worn out (outside of the uke smashing thing), and can't tell, but looks like his hearing issues are impacting his playing (here and in recent concert footage last week). BUT, I'll take any Who I can get.
Tried to watch Roger & Pete, but couldn't keep my eyes off Tariq. He was just as into it as I was at 15! I love seeing people appreciate the Classic Rock I grew up with!!💙 Much love to Jimmy, the Roots, and of course the Who!!💙💙
saw him live in 2017... just swept off my feet. Roger is absolutely amazing! I hope I have that vitality 40 years from now (because I know I'll never sing like that anyway - as most people won't ever do, too)
Go see this tour! I have been to concerts for 45 years, and saw The WHO 4 times. You won't be disappointed again. His scream is better live, when I saw them in 2016. Now my wife and kids get to see ELO, and I hope Dhani Harrison does some of George's Beatles songs.
@@tweetybird59 I know me too! Going to see them in September. Wouldn't miss it for the world..haven't seen them since 1975. Glad it was so good, but then how could it not be?? ❤❤❤
Ha, ha, ha. The Jimmy Fallon Jam session with the Who was so fun. Roots were really feeling it, too. Pete Townsend destroying his Ukulele at the end was perfect!
You'd be surprised actually. His voice was going out 30 years ago. He's not even near what he was then. This was just a light jingle... no strain on the vocals. I do agree with you though, that he looks great.
I've always enjoyed these classroom covers, but this was just next level.... I know that Jimmy is always enthusiastic, but I just got pure joy out of watching The Roots play "Won't get fooled again", because it looked like they were having so much fun with such an old classic. Perhaps the message of the song?
PS: How sweet was that at the end, when Pete Turned around and clapped for the great job on backup from the Guys from The Roots!! They've (The Roots) have sure been lucky to play with such legendary bands! Margaret from Canada
This is a joyful masterpiece give us more of the Who doing this type of stuff!!!! with other groups also PLEASE!!!!!! Children could learn from this and start actual not virtual groups!!!!!! Thank you all!!!!!
Absolutely priceless. Even with the classroom instruments the songs holds its ground. Daltrey as great as ever, Townsend doing his thing. More of these!!!!
Oh man! This is so... refreshing especially from guys that age taking the piss at themselves! I agree with Daniel, Pete smashing the ukulele had me in tears! More, please!
I grew up in the 80s and 90s so the Who in their heyday was before my time though I still appreciate their music as well as classic rock in general. Hopefully for the later generations there will still be "influencers" who will continue the tradition of appreciation of the 60s and 70s classic rock era
Pete smiling...priceless. The Roots...totally stoked. Jimmy...loving it. Rodger..."I'm leaving the band"...LOL Ukulele...joining the ranks of top tier world renowned equipment. Gloats to all of the other ukes. "Ha Ha, Suckers! I'm king of the world!" Other ukes...well, it was nice knowing him.
I’m not saying that The Who was the greatest of all bands, or that this is the greatest of all songs; but if you had to pick one song to represent rock and roll to another planet or future generations or something this would be it. And seeing it played here on primitive instruments feels profound, like the apocalypse has happened and the few survivors are trying to keep the spirit alive while gathered around the fire. This video feels like the coda for the postwar generation, like a lot of rowdy voices at an Irish wake for human civilization.
The Who are just Fab no matter what!!! Did they pay full price for those classy instruments? Jimmy is loving it! Pete and Rodger are two of my heros, not to mention...................😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
