You missed the last few seconds. It showed that it was dedicated to his friend Callum MacKay who passed away in 2011 aged 22 (just a few months after losing his best friend Joe Hughes)

Ren wanted to create a tribute to his friend Callum Mackay who passed away 6 months after Joe’s death. Ren said that he just couldn’t come up with lyrics to say what he wanted but when he sat at the piano this just naturally poured out of him. That’s the beauty of music. You don’t need words to express emotions (if done correctly) and Ren did Callum proud with this one

  • @JoeYo77

I did not hear one person complain that he didn’t sing. There were a couple people that were surprised he didn’t sing, but at the end all those people said I’m so beautiful it didn’t work. What is tribute to your friends passed away all right thank you for sharing your music with the world. He won’t sing over it. He said he had writers block when his friend passed, because he passed so close to Joe’s death, and the two deaths of his best friends less than six months apart he couldn’t grasp and he had a couple tributes to Joe and he just sat down at piano not too long ago and he said this just came out of him, and then he felt like he was finally at peace with callum passing . So my opinion there’s no way he would put lyrics over it.

For many of us, we're in it for Ren as an artist. Is everything he does 'my thing'? No, not at all, but I listen and watch, and listen again and there is always something new to learn. I think he's astonishing. Not often an artist comes through who will probably fill venues with a hardcore rap/hip hop gig, and then fill a venue with his own modern classical compositions. I'd pay to go to both.

I would always recommend looking to see if Ren had anything to say about a video before you watch it - he'll sometimes put his thoughts in the video description, sometimes in a pinned comment like he did here. Also - play the video to the end! Having said that, great reaction. I love your appreciation of Ren's genius.

I liked your reaction! Subscribed. My brother, a musician for over 50 years, said that this is Ren's best so far.
I wouldn't quite go that far, but I heard everything from Ren, that I could get my ears and/or eyes on. As always, Ren surprised.
Ren is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're gonna get.

Because of the way he accents the top of his arpeggios in this, he almost creates an additional melody that is gentle in comparison to the turbulence of the rest of the arpeggio. Its a very poigniant effect.
    RIP Callum.

Ren isn't just a piano player, he's kinda new into that. He's a rapper, guitar player and a rock star. A prodigy. Learn to play guitar on RUclips when he was 12 and the piano came later. He's concider to be the best rapper and singer on the planet except from Dimash Kudaibergen of course. 👍 🇳🇴

I think people should perhaps not make suggestions for Ren for his own music.
Ren chose to write this his own way, for his own reasons. He could have written words if he wanted to. He has chosen not to. Personally, I don't think he needs the permission or suggestion of any other people telling him what he can and can't do. Just my thoughts.
