    Thank you. It's nice to hear it played the way it's supposed to be played. Amazing chord progressions that flow together and ring on through eternity.

    This was an excellent lesson! There are many YT lessons on Your Song but you have managed to do what noone else has done so far. You broke the song down into the underlying chord voicings and then went into detail about the arpeggiation. By doing this, it is much easier to learn and memorize the song. I appreciate the work you put into this tutorial. It would be awesome if you could do tutorials on some of the Elton John songs for which there are no good tutorials on YT like Take Me to the Pilot, Burn Down the Mission, and Amoreena.

    That arpeggio learning style would also be appropriate for the "Tiny Dancer" intro as well.

    As a hybrid learner (by ear and also by chord names) perhaps the most difficult part of playing a song like this is resisting the temptation to reach for those melody notes as you’re arpeggiating through the chords. Is that a thing?

    • @pierrejpiscitelli
      @pierrejpiscitelli  3 месяца назад

      Absolutely, if you are trying to create a solo piano arrangement, feel free to reach for melody notes.

    Man! If I would have had a piano teacher like you back when. . . . I've been a formally trained (trumpet) musician since 1973. In 1978, I began "noodling" on the piano. I used everything I knew about music theory to "fake" a lot of popular songs. The problem? My fingering was . . . not good. I have, over the years, either in college, or by a private teacher, taken piano lessons. That was somewhat successful. However, to this day, I'm still just playing the chords and faking it. If I have a chord sheet, I can hold my own - - - but. - - - if someone puts sheet music in front of me, it's gonna take me a few minutes to translate it into chords. Is there any hope for me?

    This is very cool, thanks Pierre. I’m still struggling to work out the intro even on min speed. Is the any chance you could spell out the fingers for the arpeggios? eg Eb 1253 Ab 1253 Cmin 9 12542 I think :)

    • @pierrejpiscitelli
      @pierrejpiscitelli  6 месяцев назад

      They are going to vary depending on the individual, technique and size of your hands. I would follow along with the video and copy my fingers slowly, making adjustments if what I’m doing feels weird!

    I wish I knew how to get you more views on your question and answer video. I loved it. I'm afraid you will avoid that format in the future. I want to know more. I know you already covered perfect pitch with Beato, but you should do your own episode about it. You are probably sick and tired of talking about it but a lot of us are very fascinated. Just do a really good and thorough treatment of it, then forever more you can say "I did a video about it. Here is the link." I'll bet it would be a steady view earner for many years. Tell us your top 100 favorite songs. You don't have to play them, just tell us. Also, tell us who you follow.
    I was just looking at the jump in views you got when you did the Rhodes and DX7. I think you are on to something. I'm not sure if your plans include getting sponsors, but if higher views are enough, I really love unsponsored opinions on gear, but I would understand if you were holding out for a sponsorship.
    Thanks for your hard work. I look forward to your drops.

    • @pierrejpiscitelli
      @pierrejpiscitelli  4 месяца назад

      There are many scores floating around online if you would like to read note-for-note transcriptions, but I don't have any personally, as I am trying to teach those who cannot simply pick up a score and read the parts. Many of these songs were written by ear, or with chord symbols, so often times this is a more organic way of teaching in my opinion!
