My decisions to buy 200+ dollar bottles is all based on Dans reactions. If his tasting notes are just sounds = buy and if he actually gives real notes = probably a pass
I’ve come across two recently at two different stores and passed. Was at red wagon in Troy and they said everyone’s curious but no one could justify the price tag, good review I may have to just bite the bullet and pick one up. Cheers 🥃
I did a tasting for possible bourbons of the year and this bottle (I also have #50) came in 2nd for my whiskey group. Angel's Envy CS Bourbon came first. This was just a qualification round to put together a top 16 for a blind we are doing soon.
I had barrel 43, the whiskey in my bottle was very thin and light on any flavor. I know single barrels vary, but I expected a fairly high quality coming from Dixon. Barrel 43 was a hugh disappointment and let down for a top-tier bottle from Dixon.
What an Amazing Save on that Glen! 2X0 is Great! Been watching you guys for a while! Love to see another Michigan Channel doing well. I just started my channel about a month ago. Do you have any tips or suggestions for a Newbie?
I have a bottle of Barrel 59 that I found locally on December 22nd. It's so fantastically unique! I've shared it with a few, and everyone had rave reviews. Cheers! 🥃
How’s it compare to Carter or Four Gate. Both of those are 200 or a tad more. Not something I would get for that price I understand what goes into doing this but it just isn’t in my price range. This certainly does seem to be the trend in bourbon currently in this country. Charging these high prices for bourbon may have a significant impact on the industry time will tell.
Did you wind up actually getting a bottle from barrel 69? I have a chance to get that one, but I am hesitant with the wildly mixed reviews depending on the barrel.
@@davel_ggw I didn’t yet, but still have the opportunity to. It’s been reduced to sell so I probably will. I say if you can get it at sub 200 then go for it. If 200 or more probably pass. You could get 2 bottles of his other premium 2XO for the same price like the Tribute and the Sneakers that just was released.
I've been trying to join the Facebook group but I havent been able to, and I THINK I may know why: the 3rd question asking the nicknames of Dan and Sean? Is that a trick question? Otherwise I have no f'n clue lol. Any help is appreciated.
There are 25 1oz pours in a 750ml bottle. From what I seen a bar would typically charge to get triple the bottle price. So if the bottle cost them $200, triple that to $600 and divide by 25 to get the price per ounce. So $24 for a 1oz pour in this case.
Dan- At $150 I would actually go hunting for these. Shaun- i dont even know of this is worth $150. Me- Well I did just go buy another old elk store pick and barrel 35 so im good
If this was worth the price, they'd be raving and air humping throughout the video. All the hemming and hawing tells you it's just a hard pass at msrp. The End.
I realize that it seems like you guys are willing to pay more for whiskey made by people you know. You explained all the reasons why it costs more but still bumped it down for price.
@@kelcey11 Yeah if so it sounds like the store priced it like it was one of the other products from 2XO like Phoenix or Inn Keeper by mistake. Good pick up.
I think there's definitely under the table favors/money being thrown around with reviews. Some videos you can tell there's just a large amount of over acting@@LeatherDaddy97
Im a hard pass on these. The 2xos ive had before werent worth anywhere near msrp to me. Im sure dixons a great dude, but i dont really get the hype around the blends he makes, even when he was with kentucky owl. The tribute blend is like a $45 bottle max to me, the phoenix even less, (havent had innkeeper) and the american oak is basically just the second coming of kentucky owl wiseman. Plus the fact that we have 0 info on whats in the bottles. To be $200 it has to be some of the best bourbon on the market, period, and it cant be if we dont know whats inside.
Kind of agree. I'm well past the saturation point of hype any kind; be it the distiller or distillery. I am not willing to put down $200 on much of anything at all these days. I only have two Unicorns I'd be willing to pay to get.

Sean practicing those dad save skills 😂
Seans save on the Glen drop was EPIC!!!
I got 2XO Gem barrel #50 of Kentucky 2-3 months ago for $190. It is very good, but tough to rebuy or try a different batch/barrel.

Really appreciate the review. My wife and I were able to taste it and pick up a bottle barrel #50. Your review helped validate it was worth the money.

To be $200 the whiskey needs to be life changingly good

I picked up bottle 38 in South Carolina and it rocks , will buy another.
I have barrel #51 and love it.
Picked up a Gem #55 for $180 and it is fantastic.

@@apeekintime I'll agree that it's not $200 whiskey, but it's solid $150 in my opinion.
@@adamdiehl79so its better than a george t stagg?
@@LeatherDaddy97 better? No. But they're not anywhere close to the same flavor profile, either. So I don't think that would be a fair comparison.
@@adamdiehl79 i was going based on you saying it was a good $150 bottle. George t stagg is $125
I’ve enjoyed this single barrel but you’re right it’s tough to go out and buy a couple more to compare .
Michter’s 10 Bourbon and Michter’s 10 Rye and most of the JD LE’s (Coy Hill, BS Rye) are single barrels.
thoughts on the blue run 12 days as a bunch of single barrels being released at the same time as an LE kinda thing? is that a good comparison?
I have barrels #67 & #68. #67 is an amazing bourbon. It's worth the $200 all day long. Barrel #68 is very good but #67 is an obvious step above.
this one is available by me so glad to hear your thoughts on it just starting video
Thanks for another great video! New subscriber and I’ve been binge watching your channel. You guys are hilarious! (No offense Brewzle)
Annual release of single barrels Michters 10 yr ❤️ you guys

I got 1 and I loved it but the price is stopping me from buying more. The one I got will last me for months so I think I'm good
I picked up barrel #70, but now the same store has barrel #69 available. 😊 How can I say no?

I was team Dan, but I have to go with Sean because of his execution with 375s.
Where did you get that octopus whiskey barrell shirt?!? I have to have that
Intotheam.com if you use code bourbonjunkies can also get some money back.
What's a bar pour run? About 1/5 of the bottle cost typically?
I've seen as crazy as 1 pour = 1/2 the bottle at msrp. bars usually at least double the price, so around 1/6 is typical

Is everyone using BTAC bottles these days?
do we have Mashbill or the age?
I read that it has 35% rye and spent a year In New oak barrels past its initial aging. All I could find
Anybody noticing the inverted smiley on the bottle thru out the video? 🙃
"Geographical Diamond", I do think that means what you think it means.
$200 is a pretty rough price point. Good thing Sean didn't forget how to use his hands and spill it everywhere...😂😂😂
Nice! 2XO’s are really nice!
Come for the bourbon review, stay for the pear education

Th conversation about toasted and second barreling cracked me up. 2XO = Two Times Oaked
Bottle design, personally, meh. I’m more of a traditionalist and want to see the whiskey thru the glass.

Woo hoo
All I'm saying is those bottles flips get on my nerves. Like I don't like it cause I'm afraid of it falling.
Good thing its not your bottle then
2XO means double barreled
It sounds like a hard pass 😂😂
I'd pay $50 if they pour it directly into an old bread bag, $75 for a ziploc bag.
price of bottle would drop to $60 if whiskytubers would be a wee more honest.
Idk about honesty being the issue here
