Airman Vision is run by Kyle Gott. Kyle is an Air Force Veteran who served 6 years and honorably separated as an E-5 Staff Sergeant. He started making videos on this channel to document his journey joining the United States Air Force back in 2013 and continues to help set future Airmen up for success.
The videos on this channel represent the individual opinions of those speaking and do not reflect thoughts of the Air Force, DOD, or US Government.
I never knew there were leadership positions like this at AF Tech school. Nice to learn something new, and nice to see you enjoy mentoring new Airman at Tech School.
They have always had the. Red rope -- squadron leader, yellow ropes under red rope, they assist in marching to go class- your OJT /AFSC. Also have green ropes. 1972 my medical specialist school was at Sheppard AFB. We matched to school and back again after classes. The ropes help the Training instructors -- such as inspections. We had about 30 flights of females back then. Karen 72-97 AF/ANG. 50 yrs ago was Green and then Yellow rope. Back the only had red, yellow and green ropes
Watching this video at the hotel, ready to ship out to BMT in the morning!!
It's crazy how I watched Kyle for so long and now I'm watching you and we're at tech school at the same tome
I was Red Rope for a couple weeks(03/14/21 - 03/28/21)! Miss being part of the Rope program, especially during In-Processing when new airmen arrive!
So much learning and guidance shown in these videos. This is life-changing
Current Red Rope 😁. I highly encourage getting involved in the rope program at tech school! Each one serves as an important role.

Currently a yellow rope and earned my Red Rope right before I graduate which will be tomorrow 🖤
Is that the same as a shoulder chord ?
@@hirumbiffidum9145 I don’t think so it indicates student leaders
Best yellow in the game right here 😀
You should do leadership positions at your first duty station
How can you apply to be a Teal Rope? I have had some stuff happen to me in college and I was really good at helping others who went through the same thing once I had recovered and think I could do a good job helping people with these issues because I care a lot and know how to talk to people.
I want to be a teal, black rope, or be a mentor 🤔 but thanks for the video.
Sweet Jesus! There was none of that when I attended technical training at Keesler AFB, Mississippi in the summer of 1979. We didn’t even have to march in formation when going to our tech school; it was practically around the corner. There were a couple of “ropes” and the rest of us were trainees and that was all. We did have a Chief Student Training Advisor (who acted like an MTI) and a couple of STAs who were, well, drunk with the power of their authority. Sounds like the Air Force has come a long, long way since then. Hope you and Kyle are doing okay. He’s not kicking himself in the backside for punching out of the service, is he?
Do you have to use the Lord's name to emphasize a point? In other words, shut up.
Just keep in mind as soon as you get to your first duty station all that stuff goes out the door. Just don't let it go to your head :) . When a new airman got to the squadron and bragged about being a rope we just laughed. OTS had its own rank structure with upper class and lower class ot and ranks. Graduation day. We were all just 2nd LTs . I was glad I was prior enlisted and had proper perspective. That was decades ago though.
Yeah, we had some red ropes when I went through who thought it was going to get them BTZ. It must have been quite a shock when they got to their first duty station and they found out no one cared about that anymore.
Hahaha I was a green rope in tech school. I was pretty chill unless my team made me do my job other than that just gotta be a leader above all.
Can’t wait to apply to be a white rope! 👀
Man I'm a white rope right now and I love it so much!! I have a longer tech school (6 months) so I'm always volunteering for events and running around and it's made the time fly!! I've also met some great people and our Chaplain here is amazing! Definitely an experience I'm grateful for!
@@meganspangler5668 that’s awesome! Pope ropes are the best 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Is that the same as a shoulder chord ? Like the blue one that indicates infantry or the gold indicating Provost Marshall ?
No.
I can’t decide on wether I want to be a black rope or a green rope. They both sound so interesting to me. What would you recommend?
For my tech school my black ropes went to practice almost every day to practice drill performances, Jodie’s etc. green rope there’s a lot of responsibility because if your team does good or bad it falls back on you. Also you have to be voted into the green rope leadership position. I was a green rope and I enjoyed it just have to be a captain of the team essentially.
Do you have to apply for these or are you assigned like in BMT?
You have to apply for them. Each rope has specific requirements you have to meet
@@tahjdinkins7756 What's the requirement for Teal Rope? That's something I would do well in because of my life experiences
Was Kyle Gott stationed at Arizona at one point in his career?
From what I remember he was in Las Vegas and Korea most of the time.
Can you talk about your experiences with prior service people and how they were treated ?
So far in my experience the prior service Airmen are respected by the "new" Airmen and the Sgts test them more like adults than the rest of us. The ones I've interacted with have all been super chill and have had really valuable insight in different areas so it's a really great situation having them around
@@meganspangler5668 thanks. I was just curious because I’m actually joining the NG as prior service navy
I'm gonna be doing the same as prior service Army. From what I've heard we definitely get a lot more freedom and we are looked at different since we have prior experience. Is it true that we don't stay in the dorms with everyone else?
@@mikhailgonzalez8374 yea I talked with a recruiter saying we actually live in a hotel off base and only need to be on base for the actual school.
@@6packjesus dude that's awesome! Way better beds and don't have to deal with the shenanigans of tech school. Hey we went through that once no reason to have to relive it lol 😆. What AFSC are you joining as?
are you gonna listen to me or are you gonna listen to ol’ stoplight rope over there
Please can someone help me!
I’m going to Meps this Friday I don’t have a job list yet because my job options are limited as non US citizen,
But the list of job I got from my recruiter do not interest me but I can do the medical which he said is not available.
Do I insist on medical ?
Also is it true that if you are a non us citizen after tech school you cannot be stationed abroad ?
I’m a non us citizen as well and wanted to do law enforcement and they told me I couldn’t. I got assigned personnel as my job, and once I become a citizen I can cross train into law enforcement. You can do that if you are okay with waiting
Do you have IG I wanna ask you some couple questions pls.

👧🏻😍😵💫 I am spellbound!
Sign me up! I am 63, I want to join the Geezer Force
“Leadership positions” 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️😂for anyone wondering a 341 that a rope pulls in tech school literally means nothing
Not in security forces 😂😂 can take away someone Saturday here
Dont do any leadership positions in tech school. It does nothing for you when you get to your first base. Have a good time at tech school meet new people and go off base
This is good advice! 👌🏼
i was a Teal Rope in tech school down at Fort Sam Houston! bein an Airman Leader in tech school was so awesome! i pulled a ton of 341s from anyone who either crossed me or did the wrong thing right in front of me. i yelled and smoked people. my nickname was the Butcher i was more like Regina George from Mean Girls because i always acted like an MTI and i have a so strict and so stern side! i took a ton of pride takin 341s and showin my authority to everyone 😊
Short man's complex?
I may or may not know one of you’re mentees 👀
You'll realize later that the rope is absolutely meaningless.
