  • Custom painted Trek Slash with hand drawn line art design. Was inspired by zentangle line art on Instagram, so spent a few weeks learning how to do it, got to a point where I was happy with what I was producing and came up with a nice background with a 5 colour sponge effect to lay the patterns over. The masking turned out insanely complicated, and was an absolute nightmare to work with on the compound curves of the frame, but we got there in the end! Really happy with it in the end, and kinda want to keep it and hang it on the wall, but I don't have enough space for another bike, so it is available to purchase, DM me for any more info.

    Looks amazing. Did you do a single clear coat to seal the colour before logos, or logos directly on colour then clear together?

    • @flatwhitepaintworks
      @flatwhitepaintworks  10 месяцев назад

      Thanks! The sponge effect leaves a pretty rough surface, so you have to clearcoat and then sand that flat before you can apply any logos

    Amazing! How many layers of lacquer do you put on at the end before buffing/polishing?

    • @flatwhitepaintworks
      @flatwhitepaintworks  Год назад +1

      There are 3 layers over the green sponge effect, which is flatted back with p600, then the black logos are applied, 3 more layers over that and then flat and polished

      Good lord! Do you have any DIY tips for applying lacquer? I want to lacquer my first paint job but heard it’s nasty stuff. Is painting it on by brush an option?

    • @flatwhitepaintworks
      @flatwhitepaintworks  Год назад

      @@stevenjones5602 unfortunately brushing it on isn't really a option. As for applying clearcoat, it's really not a good idea to use it without proper equipment (spraybooth and respirator) but if you are going to do it then make sure to wear a respirator and do it outside

    Hi😊
    May I know, what base colour did you use after the primer? Is it silver?
    And, is it compulsory to do base colour? Can I just do the marble effect directly on the primer coating?

    • @flatwhitepaintworks
      @flatwhitepaintworks  2 месяца назад

      Hi there, this was actually a very light green base. A white base helps with making the colours pop, but I wanted to make sure it was tinted slightly green to make sure there wasn't any pure white showing through. And it's no problem to put the effect straight onto the primer, you just have to be aware that the colour of the primer will show through in spots.
