Hi! I'm 67 years old and I remember that my mom use to make these without sugar. I asked her why and she said that if you add sugar it's called another name. Anyway these are delicious and I remember that they would eat this for breakfast with black coffee. Yummy!!! Thanks for the recipe.
Maria Caleb my mom never used sugar either
I’ll be honest, I’ve tried so many recipes and this is by far the most authentic to my grandmother’s recipe. Amazing, and simple! Thank you!
Love Love your videos!!!
You are so laid back and explain everything so thoroughly without confusing me lol
I’m Puerto Rican but raised in Chicago.
I don’t know where to start but I’ll make it brief. My siblings and I did not get to enjoy the rich culture that our island offers. But through you I’m learning more about our ways of cooking.
I don’t have the privilege to say, I remember my grandmother’s cooking and my mother’s.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving back to others what your mother taught you.
I’m learning new recipes and I will continue to pass them down to my kids and grandkids.
Díos te bendiga!!!

i absolutely LOVE these, i know this came out so long ago but i’m going to be making these for my salvadorian bf since he’s never eaten PR food thank you !!!
So what's the verdict? Did he love them?
Yummy!,, Loving this blizzard today:)
Hi,they look delicioso, keep on with your delicious receipts. You are an excellent chef. Hi from PR. God bless you.
Thank you for the video! We love sorullos de maíz.
I’ve never had them with sugar, we never use sugar, but remember that in PR everything is by region just like here in the states, so I guess that’s it. This reminds me of the made ones you can find in a lot of places now, made by Kikuet, made in PR, and in some restaurants where it’s offered, it is like a savory sweetness, so I guess it is like those. Either way, it’s nice that there’s a lot of people here on yt and other places online that have these vids and share it with all of us.
THANK YOU 🙏
I made these without the cheese and they were bomb. I added some butter into the mix to make it a little more sticky so they could stay together when rolling into logs. Made some mayo ketchup sauce with hot sauce. Perfection 😘

wish there was a translate option to know what this tip was. 😔
Heidi Hale the tip that was given by the person above was adding a tablespoon of butter to the water and letting it melt before adding the corn flour. They also state it adds a special touch to the mixture.
