I just wanted to say that I love the relationship between music and film editing. Music will often dictate the outcome of a project. I often end up with something I wasn't intending on at the start. Thx for your input.
That's literally what i came out with when i was doing the film, it's probs the most important part of the entire edit is marrying both visuals and music
got out a pen and paper going through these style of videos, and i have taken some incredibly helpful notes. Thanks for what you're doing man, we all appreciate it
Found your channel recently, and I've been loving the videos! As someone who's now taking editing more seriously, your channel has been extremely helpful!
Please if someone wants to start up a career in video editing where should he get their videos from? Should he perhaps get unedited videos from the internet to perhaps attract attention from the edits or should he consider shooting his own videos? If it's to shoot videos, what next if their space is not aesthetically pleasing enough ?
I love your content. I was super overwhelmed by this new direction I was thinking of going in, after spending some time with your videos i am feeling a lot better about giving all this a shot. Thank you for doing what you do!
This is useful information but should be titled The Theory of Video Editing. The fundamentals of something has to do with the basic techniques that a skill is built on.
What skills with an editor should I absolutely need to be able to do? Also what professional editing things do I need to be able to do and know how to do via something like Premiere Pro that I can't do with Wondershare Filmora which I trained myself on?
Honestly I am really sad you didnt use the time you said "Jumpcuts" to incorporate some really, really awkward ones to immediately make the Viewer understand how they work. xD Great Video tho. Been editing for 6 years now, but there were some bits and pieces that were new to me. :)
Great vid! I really liked the breakdown of different types of videos. Some questions I have: When should I start applying for jobs? I want to do youtube video editing but am not sure of when to start applying. I'm currently practicing and watching tutorials on how to do basic stuff but not really sure how to gauge when I am ready to start applying. i created an upwork.. but a bit unsure how to continue after that. How do you make money as a contractor? (do i have to write contracts for people on upwork or do i have to make a personal business?) How do I write contracts? (examples?) people say create a portfolio but what is an acceptable portfolio for a beginner with no experience? (make a website? post 5 edits ive done? trying to figure this out) I have a bit of imposter syndrome starting out.. need some advice to get past this :) thanks!
Alright I'll put my answers bellow the questions; When should I start applying for jobs? Only you can tell, why not now?! Loads of RUclipsrs are looking for editors at the moment, just base a channel around a portfolio and put yourself out there! How do you make money as a contractor? A contractor is someone brought in to the company for a set period (all done by the company) A Freelancer is someone who operates as an entire business so that will all be down to you to sort out Or there are full time jobs people say create a portfolio but what is an acceptable portfolio for a beginner with no experience? A showreel is the most important then use social medias (professional ones) as a place to show off some of your work as some employers will be asking for it as a sort of proof And we all get imposter syndrome, I'm going to talk a bit about that in a video coming out next week or the week after Hope this all helped bud!
@@HelloHelloCharlie thanks for the reply! yep that was a big help. I misunderstood freelance and contracting. When you say freelancer "operates as an entire business" Do I actually have to make a legit business before I can accept work as a freelancer?
Can you cover the topic of running a RUclips channel without getting RUclips to throttle our channel? Throttle--not channel strikes. My channel as example got throttled and now all my content's views are greatly limited and RUclips deleted ALL my watch hours even though my channel was less than a year old and most content was in the 4 months.
your content is way overkill for 8k subscribers. I can tell you have the knowledeg necessary. this is the content I would expect from anyone between 500k and 3m

@@HelloHelloCharlie As someone who is a huge ass nerd for Music videos, I attest to this 100 percent.

A contractor is someone brought in to the company for a set period (all done by the company)
A Freelancer is someone who operates as an entire business so that will all be down to you to sort out
