Hi Charlie, i came into your videos because im learning by myself to become a video editor. I already edit music video for my partner which is like trap, reggaeton, and a bit of pop I used filmora but the last one which is Neymar i edit with adobe premiere pro, is the app that im using. Im going to jump soon to after effects. But wonder do i really need after effects to be a video editor and get hired? And other question, im using my Instagram as portfolio for video editing, Im doing all kinds of video to practise, should i just focus on one topic or just practice in general? Thank you From London
I say this to everyone and it’s honestly the secret sauce of success. Doable and provable. Get a in-house job and freelance on the side. Then when you have enough experience worked on bigger projects than you would have solo (but now have your name on and usable in your showreel) then you can decide whether you want to go full time freelance! 🫡
@@HelloHelloCharlie that makes sense. Even if I want to ultimately edit for RUclipsrs? Would doing agency work be relevant enough to translate to retention based editing/hook intros to get RUclips clients?
@cara.leo_ absolutely, RUclipsrs do hire full time, and most video editors will be required to understand social media editing and all that so you’ll learn way more on the job

Am curently editing on CapCut (on my iPad) and I'm pretty decent. I want to start editing professionally for my RUclips channel. Any tips? How is DaVinci Resolve? Also, how long do you think it would take me to become a good editor if I edit on DaVinci Resolve if I practice everyday? Thanks!
Cap cut is so packed. Just advance to the PC Version. Get extreme with ideas. Davinci is awesome but not friendly for me in particular. I welcome any cup cut challenges to help you have healthy competition that will get your skills rocket up. Good luck
