I've actually been following your guides when I started freelancing as an editor around 4 months back and today I have a sustainable income that allows me to live pretty comfortably and I still have a massive ammount of free time for myself. This field is such a godsent, and I'm really glad you keep making videos about it :)
@@cashmoney5618 Hey there! I am completely self taught, I was mostly messing around with gaming montages and silly videos like that at the utter beggining, whic was like 5 years ago by now, and up until November 2023 (The month I became a freelancer) it was all for fun, and just a hobby. But most of the REAL experience in the field I have has been gathered in the last 4 months. So under the assumption you have a little experience from the past, I guess reaching proficiency could take like half a year, give or take a few months depending on how much time you dedicate to it and how passionate you are about making videos. It's a very competitive field, but the whole world needs video editors, especially nowadays in our content based society. So I bet you can find your place in it too if you really put your mind to it.
I am 50 and still growing as a person and a professional. Been in Premiere Pro for two months and feeling pretty good. I feel like I can channel my life experience into video editing. Thank you for the help Vince! Hello from Los Angeles!
Holy shit, same. 52yo, successful software dev for 30 years but getting bored with it. Recently got into videography, and especially editing. Applying all my life experiences to change my career!
Thank you man! You’re one of the few people if not the only person who help us not to promote your course or whatever. You helped me a-lot fr idk how to thank you keep up the hard work and congrats for your success :)
I am doing this journey right now, Vince I AM going be in one of your student-success interviews within 2 years, without a doubt. Ill book a call as soon as i finish some things up with my own freelancing journey. Can't wait, now brb watching all of your content again
I’ve always been interested in this field and about a week ago decided I’m going to just go for it…i’m a little overwhelmed being that I haven’t use a computer other than for basic purposes but I decided to invest in myself and built a PC setup that would allow me to get into this world! All of it finally arrived yesterday and I’m starting this journey from ground zero..so wish me luck! All this to basically say..thank you for this content! I’ve been watching several of your videos and taking in all the info I can! I hope to apply it and start to build this skill set!
Very impressed with your videos. I decided I wanted to learn video editing, watched one of your videos, then another, then signed up for your skool membership. Crushed it. Can't believe it was so smooth and impressed me enough to hardly not even look at anything else and buy. Can't wait to see what's in it!
Dude I'm seriously struggling to break through in the industry. I started learning After Effects in version 6.5!! That was even before CS3. I even went to a broadcasting school after high school and learned how to edit with Avid Media Composer. After Effects is definitely my strong point, but I can edit video/audio. Working in a factory is definitely not what I'm supposed to be doing in life.
This video has so much valuable information. The presentation is immaculate, the analogies are untouchable. Thank you for creating this video, I can't even begin to imagine the lives it will change.
So, even though you were into gaming etc, when you were younger, what editing software did you start with and what are you using today? And who taught you how to edit using that software? Did you take classes to learn it or, you just figured it out all on your own?
I've always loved video editing... i used to have many videos with amazing editing that brought me to 1k subscribers until i deleted a majority of them. I left this commant here to return when I find my way towards freelancing...
Leaving a comment and comeback here once I get my first client. I actually feels stuck and stumbled to this video, this is such a great content and it gave me motivation to start 😌
11:57 that's my problem as a creative individual. I want to be the editor, game developer, business lead, freelancer, content creator all at the same time and never end up getting clients or making money at it. Any advice on how to pick one of your passions and stick to it?
Try to offer your services somewhere and an indie developer might pick up on your services. Offering the service is the most important step to get clients in the first place. Supply and demand will sort that out for you :)
Nice video man! Really interesting! I'm actually curious about one thing. You are speaking about getting good paying clients as a video editor, but it also feels like you need to film the content? Or how do you get the content? From the client itself or do you shoot it as well? Or do you collaborate with a videographer?
Whoever wants to learn video editing and get a full-time job in it, I will be posting vids on it very soon. I’ll give the secrets to getting employed in the field, without the extra BS tips. Stay tuned.
I have 2 question 1. Is it possible to be a good editor using free editing software? 2. Can this work be done in developing countries like Ethiopia? Thank you sir.

Alright, i came back when i land my first job as a freelancer.
Question, what are your thoughts on fiverr and upwork to start freelancing?
Inspiring but what about Ai,chat gpt and coding dont u think this will have impact on video editing by making instant
No Ai is a tool like Adobe. You have to think about use it to help ...the creativity is your job
your video is great, what software did you edit it with?

@Kento_Ikeda tbh learn both. Both Premier and Resolve together.
So Do I need to film content itself as a freelance editor?
what is the name of the BG music that playing in your video
What exactly do you mean by a niche in video editing? Please explain
A niche means in what area you want to edit in. Gaming content, movie content, vlogs… etc
I’ve messaged so many content creators lol and denied but gotta keep pushing
Did you build a good profile and got showcase vids?

U have a video on how to create a portfolio?
@@monarch2500 Just put all your edits in a google drive and send potential clients the link to it
