I'd imagine fairly often if you reside in the states... F/A-18 A/B/C/D are all still in service, not to mention the F/A-18 E/F Super-Hornets and EA-18G Growlers.
Happens regularly in Virginia and Florida where two pairs of USAF and USN squadron are based close by. Langley AFB & NAS Oceana, and NAS Pensacola & Eglin AFB.
Awesome video! I love air shows! Sadly I have only been to 2. The Ghost Squadron air show when I was a child in the 70's and about 6 years ago The Blue Angels air show. I just watched the RAF centennial documentary that Ewan and Colin McGregor did last year. Loved it. It's on Amazon Video right now. Thanks for this video, Paul
Great to see all the different planes, and to finally see a JSF with an Australian RAAF badge! I know everyone says this plane is better than that plane. The truth is they are all great in their own way! JSF for Shoot first run away, f-18 for slow speed high manuvers. But we should really have some SU-37’s in our Airforce for distance. They can out fly in speed and distance all of the planes shown. It would make us a completer airforce like the RMAF. They have a great mixture to suit all needs. But all great planes!
People who are never in the military see those planes doing those hard Maneuvers and think wow that's awesome. The mechanics on the ground are going please don't over G the airframe please don't over G the airframe please don't over G the airframe. I used to work on Legacy hornets and anytime the pilots did flight demos we were like shit, please don't break something.
@@paulstewart2ndchannel during carrier qualifications, watch the aircraft land on the flight deck from one of the cameras that's literally right in the landing area. Whenever you saw one of your aircraft smack the deck you could feel the entire ship shake. Your worst fear was when 10 minutes later you got a call from maintenance telling you to prepare the Jacks because that aircraft had a hard landing and needed an inspection.
@@ectomy1235 it's been a few years but if I remember correctly alert fives are only set when normal flight operations have finished. For example Say You're Just steaming along with no flightpps scheduled but you have an alert 5 set on the catapults in case you haven't identified aircraft come towards you other ships Etc. You have different alert levels alert5 alert 15.
I was surprised when they mentioned it was an Aussie flying the raptor. Wasn't expecting that. That being said, I found the demonstration somewhat subdued compared to 2017 where the American pilot pushed the jet much harder. The formation flight was pretty cool though.
When that day happens, the US will have the F-15X Advanced Eagle and whatever other development that they always have in the works that'll supercede. No matter what Russia has, they are always 10-30 years behind and that's being generous about it. The F-22 is a development from 1981 and to this very day is still the superior platform, with most of its components/spec's remaining classified. As impressive as the Su-57 is, it still isn't anywhere near as refined from an inflight component/engineering perspective. I'd be more interested in the development of the MiG-41's capabilities given it's slated interceptor/strike capabilities - but again, Russia's budget can never align with it's own engineering capabilities...
Sexual Chocolate SU - 37 still a superior dog fighter, Raptor has edge over distance with Shoot first capability, but they would not want to engage close range as the SU’s are by far the better movers!
Great seeing the Super Hornets flying with the F35 and F22.
Absolutely! :)
*Legacy hornets, but I agree 😀
Had a fun and very hot day at Avalon on Saturday March 2 and enjoyed the 1 hour capabilities show they had from 130pm.
The weather on Saturday was truely horrendous, although otherwise it was a great show :)
Really nice formation flying
Amazing it is great to see these birds.
Thanks Janine
Congratulations on your new channel.
Thanks Leon
Amazing performance 😁👍
how often would you see an f-22 flying with an f-18 I wonder?
In Ace Combat, very often.

About 4 times a year

Thanks Ray. Interesting, I do have a subscription of Amazon Prime so I might have to see if I can find that doco about the RAF.

it's pretty good. They get to fly in planes from WW1 and all through to the modern day.
Sounds good!
I love aircraft and aviation. I would like to see an air show, but in Germany, where I live, they are forbidden.
Since the Rammstsein Mig-29 accident.
My 3 favourite fighter jets in the world.
It was very cool to see the three together :)
Lovely video . They say if an aeroplane looks good it flies good , nothing could be more appropriate when comparing the F18 Classic to the other two !
Agreed David!
That turn made by F-22 is practically impossible.
It was pretty cool

Yep we can certainly respect the engineering of other countries, if they're the enemy. The Germans had some amazing tech during WW2!
Very nice where the hornets pulled up i was right there
Thanks mate

haha fair comment :) I suspect it's similar with race car mechanics

@@danieldunlap4077 is that why its hard to launch the alert five aircraft cause those things are broken, i cant remember what they are called?!?

Hi Bob, the whole show was more subdued than last year I'm afraid :( The program was actually quite poor.
It's every second year I'm afraid, so the next one will be in 2021. :(
I hope you Aussies are real careful with those old Hornets, don't want the Canadians to end up with beat up 30 year old fighters!!!
:)
F-15, F-16 and F-18 are the last great US fighters...
How many fighters have you flown?
Just wait until the Sukhoi Su-57 arrives and the F22 will run away with its tail between its legs :-D
Maybe... if they ever build the Su-57... ;)

SU 57. The plane nobody wants. Even the Russians are only building a few. Some say its not even stealthy.
F22 is sexy and it can kick ass!!!
It does look amazing!
