Apologies for the elongated ending, I’m now noticing I did not trim that correctly. Usually I have 20s of tapering off to leave time for video cards and screens. Seems I added an extra 1m 20s accidentally.
One thing that I incredibly appreciated about vanilla SWTOR is that they used motion capture for many animations. To this day, I remember a moment in a promo video with the motion capture actor doing the commando recharge animation with a heavy prop. Those animations stand up really well, so when it comes to adding animations, I think it's important to maintain that level quality. Unfortunately, not all new animations do
Man i want the old Master Strike back , Blade Barrage is soooo bad. That i could animation cancel to push out more dps , such little things were so cool nowdays everything is easy and boring.
My main problem with the combat is it feels so STIFF. I don't feel fluid going from one to another because often the cooldowns just doesn't match up, and you get a moment where you just stand like a dummy, waiting for something to click. It doesn't feel very Sith or Jedi, if you're playing those.
I've always said that if they had just added auto attack animations for those downtimes, it would feel a lot better. Even if the auto attack was entirely cosmetic. In fact you take away auto attack animations from a lot other MMOs, it ends up feeling the same as SWTOR does.
@@SWCentral Can't agree more on that! I am mainly playing Sith Sorcerer and I am extremely disappointed how unsithy it feels. The Sith and the Jedi are agile, fast, acrobats, adding more animations that reflects their speed, and their acrobatic achievements would be an amazing start and most likely most of the work. If they nail those right with the skills and buttons, feeling every last one of those buttons responsive and impactful that is just one step towards an amazing experience.
Honestly, combat animation updates would be nice. If they can't provide us with decent content, then maybe working on things like this would help. It was a breath of fresh air when they changed the landing on planets.
I don't do it because it looks cool, I do it because I always expect there's some ankle high piece of terrain that will break line of sight unless I'm above it when I press the ability.
Misleading title there Central lol. But I agree, I hope they upgrade the combat too. I'm used to the combat after so long, but the idea of changing and improving the combat will encourage older players to log on, but also entice newer players too. They could even apply the ESO approach. The combat in that game could work here.
the game really needs more animations, it’s humorous to see characters reuse the same animations every scene from the first few class missions to the most recent expansion missions
I agree, you shoot a gun irl the bullet doesn’t bend toward the target if you shoot away/ to where it was. The playing of any class feels stiff. Saber characters have a 1-2-3 pause restart. Should just be a continuous flow of blade work
Also for a big expansion they can add space exploration even if you simply added planets and space stations to land on just to make the galaxy more lively
This is the second biggest point why I cant get into SWTOR anymore. I have no problem with TAB-Targeting but the character feels out of touch and not grounded with the gameworld. Look at WoW how the Character behave when running or standing still and u look around while holding the right-mouse button. And then there is SWTOR where the Character turns and the Spot like he stands on a turntable. It didnt need to copy WoW 1:1 (beside BW did this many times and failed miserably). Copy the "Active Targeting" from WoW so you can a bit more "action" into the old Tab-Targeting MMO so it feels fresh. Update the Animation and the Character Skeleton rig, give it more animations. At the end, swtor COULD be a very good TAB Targeting game where every button press feels good and satisfactory like how in GW, TESO or WoW. But the need to want to do that. And I dont see this sadly. They managed to rund this game into the ground so its a husk that is only alive through the wales of yes saying SW fans nowerdays :s
there never gonna do this but if they completely re-did combat to be more like ff14 that would be real nice sense there your always clicking a button weather you like the game or not you cant deny its a fair bit better designed in terms of combat lol
It's funny. I share the same feeling regarding the Sith Juggernaut/Jedi Guardian: Why isn't Saber Reflect a standard ability of the combat style? Why does it have to be one of three possible choices? It's the most classic and cool ability to reflect blaster fires from the enemy, be you Jedi or Sith. I've barely used Saber Reflect because Mad Dash/Blade Blitz is more useful for maneuverability. New animations would be welcome, but I'm not sure what kind or how. Recently, I've been playing as a Sorcerer, and I love it! Truely fulfilling my Darth Sidious fantasy! As for melee, probably due to classic lightsaber nostalgia, I've been favoring the Vengeance Juggernaut more. I can't get enough of the chuckle when using Shatter or the visual effects of Vengeful Slam.
Yeah it feels like the next step for them, to overhaul the visuals of the old planets but not update the combat seems a little goofy, it doesn't have to be anything substantial just make it so there's multiple animations that play out for every main ability for every class. Different shooting stances and differing saber swings, and then different equip animations would help too. I imagine it wouldn't be that much effort and would go a long way in making gameplay feel less repetitive.
4:39, in my opinion, combat style (like corruption sorc or deception sin, for example) should determine weapon drawing... For example: Smuggler combat styles: Flashy Agent/Trooper/Hunter combat styles: Efficient (based on weapon) Inquisitor/Consular combat styles: Elegant Warrior/Knight combat styles: Efficient
@ Great idea, but I was trying the keep things simple, since combat styles are already sort of alignment based (When you first unlock the ability to get your second style for the Lightsabers) Plus, I don’t quite see alignment changing the Non-Lightsabers draw animation that much... (Probably the Lightsabers, though)
@@dar-nakkallig alignment and class altering combat animations would actually be a selling point for this game. If it never comes to SWTOR, another Star Wars or fantasy game will do it and it'll be huge.
I see the Warriors/Knights more vicious type of combat. More aggressive, where you get up into the face of your opponent and take everything personally. That would especially fit perfectly with Sith Warriors, who are known to be more animalistic, vicious type of combatants that rely mostly on rage, anger and short-temper. While with Knights it would be more about mockery, jokes to annoy your opponent, to distract them to make it personal. You might even add in their playstyle their control of emotions where they remain in control yet they drive their opponents annoyed, angry. I completely agree on the Inquisitors/Consular gameplay though. They should be elegant, beautiful, precise and overpowering your opponents. Hell even though telekinetic lightsaber combat for them. Something that is rooted in their basic class skills. That alone would completely transform the class and make it way more interesting to play.
@ for the Sith Warrior, that could work. However Jedi do not seek combat, which is why I’d say the Knight should be purely efficient, as if resigned to fight.
Pyrotech's talent for CC immunity on Energy shield is only thing I want to see an animation on. Everything else I like as is. But a way to tune down animations probably would allow for more fluid gameplay as performance is a real issue. Also may cause injury is a great tactical for going around discharging everything btw.
The one thing I'd like to see would be where the Jedi and Sith characters exchange attack animations. An obvious example would be where a Jedi sentinel were to go dark side and instead of doing an energy blade wave they'd do the Sith's marauder's belch or the Jedi consular instead of doing some leg dance they'd hover in place, send lightning into the air and have it rain down wherever the player wants and vice versa
I would love if on top of adding new combat animations they also added rare combat animations, that only a select few can get, either via unearthing old holocrons, and when our characters read said holocrons we unlock special combat animations, for example wielding lightsabers like Treia.
@@SWCentral another idea would be to have a lightsaber in one hand, blaster pistol on the other, adding a melee/ranged hybrid for force sensitives (similar to operative/trooper)
I think if they made the alacrity or gcd at base be alot faster innately (Like 1.3gcd for all characters) and remove alacrity/accuracy stat requirements and focus purely on power, crit, mastery, etc. That way its purely about increasing the dmg of your character and makes it more simplified/unified since the gameplay will feel good at lower levels, as well as gearing up later on will be more linear and simpler. Removing the awkwardness of having less than 110% accuracy for stats, and also getting back to having 1.3gcd rather than 1.4gcd as it is now
also please make jet packs feel like actual jetpacks id love to have them actually fly and get you high places (not p2w bcs hk55 jetpack) or make some of them go faster like hk55 when u enable all 3 thrusters, or make the player model start off in the current height when equipping jetpack mounts but it slowly goes higher (player controlled or automatic) and have it never go above the cieling height (for indoors) PLEASE DEVS 🙏 🙏🙏
One thing I haven’t noticed someone to talk about is, wouldn’t it be cool if we have 4 different starting lightsabers for each class? Knight, consular and warrior have the same starting lightsaber and the sorc has the only different one. I think it would be cool if we have 4 different
They could take auto attacks out and just make players left click, keep abilities on the bars, and still press tab to target, I think it would make it feel modern while retaining what the game still is at its core. Maybe give players a genuine sprint meter as well with dodging too, just to give it that extra flair.
Not sure if it would count, but if they would to add anything new, what I would love to see is tech users using melee weapons, like example if playing a Powertech, instead of using a blaster you can use a Vibrosword instead etc
@@oopomopoo That doesnt make sense since tables would be a euphemism for the game engine. Here the game devs are working hard making the food look and taste great, meanwhile the customers are forced to either stand or sit on the ground and eat with their hands. All while something is biting them, but they cant see it because its stuck in the floor. They should focus on fixing engine issues and decade old bugs first before they try to make the game look better.
@@SvendleBerries So you want them to fire most of the team and hire a completely new set of developers? Because that's what you're asking for. You're yelling at the chefs and waiters for not having enough tables as if they're just supposed to build more and that isn't a totally different skillset.
The dream combat update would be a massive remake of it. So motion capture or heavy animations to combat to add a real life like energy, a saber stance selection / development trees so you could choose how your character can use a saber and ultimately removing the weapon class restriction. If someone wants a crossguard or a staff on an Inquisitor then let them.
You ask very relevant questions in your video and your dedication to the game is inspiring. I recently discovered this channel but I appreciate your videos a lot. Keep up discussing this game that clearly you love ❤
I think SWTOR and ESO has the same thing with combat, though in different ways: you need to dive into pushing it to get it to click. In ESO you need to carefully choose your abilities properly and then it gets fun. In SWTOR you have to experiment with getting out the most to find each class's personality. For a while I thought "meeeh, combat's so bad, all classes are almost copycats of each other", Then I began pushing my Juggernaut... and oh boy, what amazing mobility it has. It's tremendously fun to be zipping around the enemies out of reach back into melee, behind, to the sides (then they dropped this expansion and crippledf it, I can still play it like that but missing one bit or another). Downside is in a group you'd get yelled, I did one big enemy in Ossus with another player and he told me to stop moving so much. From always, however, I've found SWTOR to be my favorite early levels combat along Guild Wars 2.
@@bruticus1496 Yeah was a healer; but I don't remember if we were in a party. I think we were. I don't think my movement was taking the mob off his melee range (it was the sorcerer healer class): not only I tried to avoid going off the opposite side of the boss from him but I also force leaped back in as soon I had gone off, as I learned the timing to just avoid its annoying attack. Man, was that maneuver satisfying.
I love Swtor except its gameplay, especially the combat feels clunky and slow asf. I'm also a huge WoW fan and everytime I start WoW the combat feels fluent and intuitive and that is what I want for Swtor, too. The most annoying thing of combat s in my experience the button pressing delay and cooldown, because it feels slow and weird. Also the developers could simply remove the sprint ability completely and make it as the default walking. There is just no purpose in having it fill your bars or slowing off new players till they reach level 10
I played this game on the year of release and remember having fun. I started playing again a week ago, I'm playing a sith marauder, currently level 37, and I basically spam the same 4 abilities all the time, repeating the same animations all the time. I also played WoW, and things changed progressively over the years, sometimes these changes were bad (well, often, to be honest), but here I don't notice a single thing being different. But I don't remember such a feeling of boredom during combat. Maybe only my perception changed...
I had this amazing idea where all the classes have options on how they carry their weapons, for instance, saber wielders could have the option to toggle between stances. For instance, ataru where the players can carry their saber's reverse grip like star killer. Or run like a jug/sorc, purely cosmetic and the forms dictate how they carry and attack. Basically stance animations of tuning.
After swtor being my main MMO for a really long time, I tried FFXIV and I must say , I never noticed how many abilities in swtor do nothing but damage on a cool down. 3 things I would love to see that in my opinion are the aspects in FF that swtor should adapt: - Position damage modifiers for melees (like Assassin but for more abilities) - Kombo strings to give new players an idea of rotations and rewarding keeping your rotation up - Class specific gauges. Another resource each class has to manage. Some specs have that rudimentary like fury stacks but more fleshed out
The minute you started talking the first game that came to mind was: Wild Star. Wildstar, Wildstar kinda fixed this problem with its combat, It was kind of action combat like that Plus this would make it easy to port it to console.
might have to give it another try one of these days so i can see it in HD. though for me i kinda took a hit to my interest when they added level adjusting based on planet, it was kinda neat as a lvl 70 heading in to a lvl 50 raid or flashpoint solo and just demolishing the npc's and bosses and occasionally see if you can't find a world boss and see if you can take him down with just you and your companion. good times ^^
Don't worry dude, I've been working on my Skyscale for YEARS. Started right before end of dragons. The grind is real, and I don't think I've ever had to deal with something so painful
I've thought for a while that it'd be cool if the Jedi/Sith mirrors had more differences. Like imagine if the Marauder had a risk reward system or if the sorcerer had a life steal. Both would be on the higher end of changes, but I feel like they'd feel more like the dark side users they're supposed to, not just Jedi with different animations.
I played SWTOR on release all the way through to 1.2 after my server died on population, but always been on WoW since 2004 till now, and i think if the Dev's on SWTOR are on the right track, but the one downside i have had from the very start is always noticing that the cartel market gets soo much updates compared to the game it self, now i know this is how the game mostly gets its funding this way but content+ updates on gameplay is what will bring back players. I deffo think that the combat can be made a bit smoother for melee and updating the animations for all classes and specs, something so small like that makes the game feel fresh and exciting, WoW has done this over the years slowly and its always been welcomed by the player base. I really hope the Dev's go in the in right direction as i would love to come back to SWTOR as it was a great MMO with great lore.
An animation refresh would be nice. I seriously don't think they would even consider a complete system change, if they did I like ESO combat, but that would be a super big change. I would like to see a new flying system, not on rails for the standard stuff, that would not be as hard to do, along with ship customization. Being able to customize or even use different ships, and maybe have hanger bays in cities or your base you could have other players check out your ships. I know its far from happening, but I would love a new class for each side. I know prob not do to the dialogue, but doesn't change the fact it would be cool.
I approve this message!!! 😃, and maybe add chat bubbles and an 'action cam' option like in WoW that would be great. Man the game would feel so different
Would love to see Dark/light side have an effect on one's combat, currently an assassin who is full dark side can use jedi combat style, which would not be possible for a sith. It would require a lot of work, but if one's core abilities would change in relation to one's dark/light side and possibly new animations as well. however, I would also like to say that I think Light and dark side should have more influence on gameplay, an example could be that if a Max dark side user wants to switch to the light side, it must be difficult for them, currently you get X amount of points towards one or another, why not set the points so that they start low and gradually get bigger the more you move towards dark/light.
I just want to be able to build a starkiller build. They should make all abilities accessible through a massive skill tree. Let the force charge lightsaber skills be able to work on single hilt sabers. The combat styles were a nice step towards this but I want just massive skill trees for force sensitive and non force sensitives.
Adding new specialisations would be great. One for force users and on for techs. This way old classes don't need to be changed to a degree that people won't like it anymore. But small adjustments would still be great. Some classes play very simple with just a few important abilities for your rotation, such as tactician, and then you have the focus guardian with like double the amount of abilitied you need to press. If the game ever comes to consoles, it would need some adjustment in this direction. Nobody uses a piano as a controller.
At this point, I'd be willing to try anything to make it feel fresh! I've been wanting (and asking for) double jump for years! It will never happen but jedi should be able to double jump and bounty hunter/trooper could use their rocket boosters to jump higher and scoundrel/operative could do a little roll or something 😂 idk just a thought that would be a cool addition
Something that might work in getting community opinion is posting multiple polls asking the players. The poll could be split to first subscribers and then another poll asking the wider community who've had a registered account for at least a certain amount of time. Also, tbf, I'm not active on the forums so I don't know whether or not something like that has been attempted yet but I've never seen a message asking me to participate in a poll since I started playing in mid 2014. Edit: if it wasn't clear, I meant the Devs themselves should ask and create such polls maybe :D
I know they had changed a few combat animations before, one that comes to mind is the sith warriors ravage, it used to look different than it does now. I just hope they dont put in to many particle effects to many of the moves, I like the feeling of many of them since they feel more realistic for star wars I guess.
I still think just updating the running and idle animations should be the number one priority for them before tackling the more complex stuff. I have played on and off since pre ordering the game and the animations have always bothered me but it’s definitely more noticeable now with advancements in gaming/mmos. In FFXIV you can even change your idle pose which I thought was an excellent feature
Please lord please listen to this man. He speaks with passion and has an audience that most of us do not possess. Love your vids and I love star wars ❤
The only thing i want for this game, is to add the playable Kel Dor Race. But i support your iniciative for the combsar animations, they need an urgent remake
SWTOR's needs a level squish. I've always held the belief that raising the max level every expansion was a bad idea in the long run but more importantly that stretching the ability dripfeed to match the overall level curve instead of adding on to what was already there means that some builds don't feel fun until very late in the game. What I'm proposing is that players should finish leveling their character at 50 (around the time they finish their class story) and everything past that should feel like your character is at the peak of their power.
World of Warcraft style would probably be their best bet since they're already working with Tab Targeting. WoW has the best Tab Targeting combat in the industry by far.
ill give SWTOR devs props for giving the fans player housing WAY before most other MMORPG did it took blizzard 20 years to finally add it hahah but yeah im glad the game isnt like fully dead an its finally getting some love after so long i hope it has some more legs in it coz i always find myself coming back to swtor an just replaying full class stories atleast once a year for a few months
I think if the level cap could be halted entirely like Guild Wars 2 and specializations worked into the game, we'd have a much better time. The combat balance team would only need to work out the numbers for damage and then in 10 year's time, we could see each class (not combat style) having 3+ specializations for their play style.
Deception is REALLY fun especially for solo play! But if you fancy something different, then Hatred is also nice, but “harder” to manage due to the use of dots and spreading them. It’s really not that hard though.
Personally, I think combat animation overhauls are universally wanted. When it comes to actual mechanical change, I would personally LOVE the combat to be more like Elden ring and new world. But other people won’t.
I would love scenes when you have a double bladed lightsaber to show the correct animations. So my character doesn't look like they're stabbing themselves every time they pull their weapon.
Combat and animations definitely need to change or even get a complete overhaul. I don’t feel like the combat is really fulfilling any real power fantasy whatsoever
and i started playing swtor back when it was in beta. i beta tested it three times in total. and have been playing it since it very first launched years ago and still at times even now play it. but if they did add new animations or change stuff to make it feel more modern. i would likely play it a whole lot more again
If he's concerned about how people will react to the changes in combat, is it possible to put it in the playtest server. Make it like a consumable or something first idk. Just a way for people to test it before making it go live
The overwhelming number of buttons required for certain class rotations makes the gameplay feel cumbersome. In contrast, New World streamlines combat, offering a more enjoyable experience with just three abilities-or up to seven when optimized properly.
Seems logical to make new animation and new combat styles at the same time. As Keith said years ago 7.X is a step to modernize the game. New combat style will surely have better animations than older ones but do we want it only for new class ? I don't think so. They can't develop news combat style and leave the older ones not reworked. Game engine is what it is, I think that even if they were more developers they have to go slowly to upgrade the game and can't roadmap cause they don't know what is technically possible to do or not to do. They were surprised that mac version could be done so fast (in a last video interview you told us about). They are still trying controler's full compatibility and probably other things. Hero engine is not used by other games so they are somehow blind. Sometimes we forggot that they play the game too and meet same difficulties / bugs as us. Last FP came 2 years ago, it not like they dont want to make new ones but mabye they are working on something that could change FP developpement and began, but can't finish for now. Kinda like 7.6 story, they can't finished it cuz some elements outside of their own work are missing. Mabye that's the same for a lot of game parts we don't know about. Once DX12 done, I think we'll have other modernisation or expansion announcement. wait and see ;)
As a WoW player, I can say the combat is super simple and tab targetting isn't the most innovative. But it feels GREAT, and every class feels very different from the others. It's polished.
As a gamer with a physical disability, as well as one whose age is starting to show(swtor came out 13 years ago, remember) I would love to see some new combat animations but I don't want the flow or style of combat to really change. The current system generally works for me, maybe even remove a few buttons, but action combat games are genuinely significantly more difficult for me to play on a basic level.
I really want them to bring back the original Master Strike / Blade Dance Animation or make it or offer it as a separate Tactical ability. Same goes with HILT BASH ability for DPS use! And bring back Droid Slicing !
I noticed that it also gets worse over time because the same monotonous combat occurs at every level but the fights just take longer and longer as you level up.
a combat remaster based on a Korean MMO such as Black Desert Online would fit SWTOR 100% I think, watch the gameplay and it is so satisfying in the hands of experienced players another Korean game like Stellar Blade that has combat inspired by other Korean MMOs, if SWTOR devs were to take inspirations from that I believe would make SWTOR a way better game than it is now because it really feels like they have mastered third person fov combat for sword-fighting atleast for gunplay, I dunno
sure making change is good due to new animation tehnologies these days but as he said they can do it and change it so much that eg. rage jugg feels like sorc or something else as he said paramaters need to be made and you answered him well pts is there and fedback is requiered for these kind of stuff, my idea kinda goes make all animations posible to excecute while moving and go fowrand from there. May Force be with you comment section xD
Something that would be amazing is a star wars game with the combat style of Black Desert Online.. that game IMO has THE best combat out all the MMO's ive played
Hear me out interchangeable combat stances say a sith warrior uses Jedi knight two handed combat stance rather than just one handed and vice versa. A year ago I was doing the sprit of vengeance flashpoint with my warrior main and half way through his animation stance idk how glitched and turned to the knight stance with both hand on the saber the rest of the combat animations didn’t change just that and it looked awesome
What we need is for someone to grow a pair and let his game go so that it can be replaced. Despite all the recent stuff with the movies and TV shows, the *Star Wars* IP is still incredibly strong and could easily sell a new MMO. The fact that this game is still alive despite minimal investment for years is proof of that. Rebuild the game from scratch, bring it up to par with games like New World and BDO in visuals, reuse the old class stories-just get rid of the rubbish ones and consolidate them into fewer (e.g., 4) class stories. Revamp combat to be controller-friendly, and yes, release it on modern consoles. Poach talent from studios with experience running successful live service projects. It might need another $100 million or so in development, but you're looking at COD-level revenue here.
I'd be happy to make my own rotation from a broader pool of abilities. It's a turnoff for me personally watching another player the same class as you doing the exact same movements like some kind of dance routine.
When it comes down to animation I kinda wish they did something with the single blaster/dual blaster and staff weapons walking animations they don't look as good as blaster rifle or single bladed sabers and when it comes to abilities I hope they revert the one merc change where u could have responsive safe guards and have 1 use of jet out instead they went and changed it to either having 2 uses of jet out of responsive and I personally like how jet out feels but because it the worst out of the 2 for practical reason you never see anyone use jet out
AND WARFRAME LITERALLY GIVES US NEW POWERS FOR EVERY CHARACTER!!!. Something Swtor devs could take note of. Like not gonna lie. unless the devs focus on force powers after combat it’s honestly not worth it. I’m not letting up too. Yeah the combat is something we need but honestly they still need force powers. It’s not the first time the devs have done this. Give us some of what we want and not the rest.
When i play my Sith Marauder, theres some core abilities on my rotation that feel good but half my other buttons on my rotation i only press when it procs. Theres no other reason to push them, theres no tactical gameplay, its just proc dmg. If most of those were gone tomorrow, id praise the devs for making my rotation on 1 bar instead of 2
best solution (as a WoW player) is to do the same thing wow did, just slowly improve the engine and work on fluidity overtime, and every few years add some new animations to spells that are 'getting old'. howerver WoW has always been relatively fluid in its gameplay (combat-wise) so i think its more of an engine limitation than purely just the animations.
HERE is what i want: BUFFET-style ability talent menus where we ACTUALLY CHOOSE FOR OURSELVES what abilities we want as we level and are NOT STUCK between only 3 choices per level in the "tree". HYBRID SKILL TREES were VERY POPULAR in the 2.x or early game FOR GOOD REASON..... but they took all of that JOY away from us and IT SUCKS NOW. BTW Black Dessert Online MMO also has great combat feel and animation experiences as well.
The thing about combat that always irritated me was all the magical flashes and colors - it no longer looks like SW. It doesn't look like anything except a bunch of effects your character diappears into, especially the higher level you become.
Are you talking about change the animation just like the warrior ( jedi/ sith ) or choose your weapon ( ex: warrior using any melee weapon ) ? I like the idea to use any weapon like sniper/ gunslinger, Its a good idea anyone ( also using some old animation ).
When playing swtor I always feel small. Furniture, buildings environments feel large. Only body 3 makes it feel a little less huge. I think all size types should be maybe 10% bigger. Or is this just me?
Apologies for the elongated ending, I’m now noticing I did not trim that correctly. Usually I have 20s of tapering off to leave time for video cards and screens. Seems I added an extra 1m 20s accidentally.
Instead of the reversed grip of Starkiller but also use the lightsaber stances we've seen in the movies and shows. Excluding Acolyte, of course.

Only a Sith deals in absolutes…. And facial hair…. 🤣
Ok?
To be fair that complextion is really cool on male characters, so fair trade imo
women with facial hair exist. cry about it
I'm probably alone in this, but I'd like to have an option to offset the camera for an over shoulder view.
Yes!
like a third person action rpg? yeah id love that as well
abso-lutely
Honestly, combat animation updates would be nice. If they can't provide us with decent content, then maybe working on things like this would help. It was a breath of fresh air when they changed the landing on planets.
Agree!
A new combat upgrade would make this game way better just animations would do
My man calling me out with that Force Leap and space bar jump part. XD
I don't do it because it looks cool, I do it because I always expect there's some ankle high piece of terrain that will break line of sight unless I'm above it when I press the ability.
I always do a spacebar jump when I use rocket punch so I can fly higher 😂
lmao i laughed real hard because i do it too lmao
Misleading title there Central lol. But I agree, I hope they upgrade the combat too. I'm used to the combat after so long, but the idea of changing and improving the combat will encourage older players to log on, but also entice newer players too. They could even apply the ESO approach. The combat in that game could work here.
Very true ESO style would fit well with star wars! Could even bring the ability morphs across
the game really needs more animations, it’s humorous to see characters reuse the same animations every scene from the first few class missions to the most recent expansion missions
When my blaster fires and the meatbags moves the blaster bolt follows the target meatbags.
Good point! Faster firing bolts could fix this but may also look “wrong”
Hmmm 🤔
I agree, you shoot a gun irl the bullet doesn’t bend toward the target if you shoot away/ to where it was. The playing of any class feels stiff. Saber characters have a 1-2-3 pause restart. Should just be a continuous flow of blade work
Also for a big expansion they can add space exploration even if you simply added planets and space stations to land on just to make the galaxy more lively
Interesting idea :)
Just please add swimming into the game, it would open so much more of the planets
I want the old immolate animation back for PT. It’s so sad without. Been waiting for years :(
This is the second biggest point why I cant get into SWTOR anymore.
I feel your pain
Yeah it feels like the next step for them, to overhaul the visuals of the old planets but not update the combat seems a little goofy, it doesn't have to be anything substantial just make it so there's multiple animations that play out for every main ability for every class. Different shooting stances and differing saber swings, and then different equip animations would help too. I imagine it wouldn't be that much effort and would go a long way in making gameplay feel less repetitive.
4:39, in my opinion, combat style (like corruption sorc or deception sin, for example) should determine weapon drawing...
For example:
Smuggler combat styles: Flashy
Agent/Trooper/Hunter combat styles: Efficient (based on weapon)
Inquisitor/Consular combat styles: Elegant
Warrior/Knight combat styles: Efficient
Love that! Perhaps even dark/light alignment could play a role in the variations!
@ Great idea, but I was trying the keep things simple, since combat styles are already sort of alignment based (When you first unlock the ability to get your second style for the Lightsabers)
Plus, I don’t quite see alignment changing the Non-Lightsabers draw animation that much...
Seeing your weapon do damage would be super cool too. Like the burn marks some lightsaber abilities leave and stuff like that. It would be awesome
Floating sabers around you? You son of a B I’m in.
Removing the awkwardness of having less than 110% accuracy for stats, and also getting back to having 1.3gcd rather than 1.4gcd as it is now
also please make jet packs feel like actual jetpacks
id love to have them actually fly and get you high places (not p2w bcs hk55 jetpack) or make some of them go faster like hk55 when u enable all 3 thrusters, or make the player model start off in the current height when equipping jetpack mounts but it slowly goes higher (player controlled or automatic) and have it never go above the cieling height (for indoors) PLEASE DEVS 🙏 🙏🙏
Agree!
How about i don't know, MAKE THE GAME RUN BETTER BEFORE DOING THINGS LIKE THIS.
The animation team doesn't have anything to do with the engine team. That's like telling waiters to cook more food before getting new tables
@@oopomopoo The money and time that were put to the animation team could have been put to something that means more.
@@oopomopoo
That doesnt make sense since tables would be a euphemism for the game engine.
You struggle running this game you must be ruining this game on a poptart bro
Was the yeller a healer? If so they don’t know how to target friends
Love it! We use to have stance selection that would dictate your role. DPS or tank. They should bring them back with new styles in mind!
After swtor being my main MMO for a really long time, I tried FFXIV and I must say , I never noticed how many abilities in swtor do nothing but damage on a cool down.
3 things I would love to see that in my opinion are the aspects in FF that swtor should adapt:
- Position damage modifiers for melees (like Assassin but for more abilities)
- Kombo strings to give new players an idea of rotations and rewarding keeping your rotation up
- Class specific gauges. Another resource each class has to manage. Some specs have that rudimentary like fury stacks but more fleshed out
What's the mount at 0:10 ?
It's from the Gree Event on Ilum. Unsure if it's from the Reputation Vendors or the Operation Boss though.
Gree operation boss on VM. Rare drop :)
Red Sphere!
A combat overhaul would make me go back to Swtor for sure. I used to be a sub, and loved the story but the gameplay eventually drove me nuts.
Starkiller lightsaber stance would legit make me return to this game. I've wanted that for yeaaaaaaars.
Such a simple thing that adds a load of flare and fun to your character.
The minute you started talking the first game that came to mind was: Wild Star.
Wildstar, Wildstar kinda fixed this problem with its combat, It was kind of action combat like that
Plus this would make it easy to port it to console.
might have to give it another try one of these days so i can see it in HD.
though for me i kinda took a hit to my interest when they added level adjusting based on planet, it was kinda neat as a lvl 70 heading in to a lvl 50 raid or flashpoint solo and just demolishing the npc's and bosses and occasionally see if you can't find a world boss and see if you can take him down with just you and your companion. good times ^^
New run animations, target lock, a bit of weight, would be awesome.
For single saber wielders I've always wanted something like a Dooku stance or like the one handed lightsaber stance in SWG
To be fair you’re not wrong, adding that kind of stuff and game areas that require it, would be fun!
Agree! RuneScape has done this in the past, polls that effect game content.
I know they had changed a few combat animations before, one that comes to mind is the sith warriors ravage, it used to look different than it does now. I just hope they dont put in to many particle effects to many of the moves, I like the feeling of many of them since they feel more realistic for star wars I guess.
If they managed to make combat feel fluid but similar at the same time, it wouldn't be a problem I guess
Btw just put this on the forums on the suggestion section. Gave you full credit. Doubt they will see it though.
Ah that’s neat thanks! 🙏
Please lord please listen to this man. He speaks with passion and has an audience that most of us do not possess. Love your vids and I love star wars ❤
Thanks friend 🙏
Yes please, yes please, yes please, yes please! This would be such a massive upgrade to the game and would bring so many new players to the game.
The new update needs to come very soon
I havent played since 2014 and i am excited to play it again
ill give SWTOR devs props for giving the fans player housing WAY before most other MMORPG did it took blizzard 20 years to finally add it hahah but yeah im glad the game isnt like fully dead an its finally getting some love after so long i hope it has some more legs in it coz i always find myself coming back to swtor an just replaying full class stories atleast once a year for a few months
I think if the level cap could be halted entirely like Guild Wars 2 and specializations worked into the game, we'd have a much better time. The combat balance team would only need to work out the numbers for damage and then in 10 year's time, we could see each class (not combat style) having 3+ specializations for their play style.
I was considering trying assassin. What combat style do you prefer? I like DPS specking even though I’ve only done solo PvE stuff so far.
Deception is REALLY fun especially for solo play! But if you fancy something different, then Hatred is also nice, but “harder” to manage due to the use of dots and spreading them. It’s really not that hard though.
@@SWCentralAwesome to hear! I think I’ll go ahead and give that a try. Thanks! :D
Personally, I think combat animation overhauls are universally wanted.
When it comes to actual mechanical change, I would personally LOVE the combat to be more like Elden ring and new world. But other people won’t.
They should give the jedi "wizard" the sith sorcerer lightning but in yellow, I think the current animation is bad.
You know it, I know it, they know it. Jedi Academy combat. Crank it up to Saberrealisticcombat 1
That's fair. I don't think they will change the combat so drastcially like that so you're good don't worry!
I really want them to bring back the original Master Strike / Blade Dance Animation or make it or offer it as a separate Tactical ability. Same goes with HILT BASH ability for DPS use! And bring back Droid Slicing !
I really wanna enjoy the story of this game but the combat is so lackluster and boring... I really think new animations will help it a ton.
I noticed that it also gets worse over time because the same monotonous combat occurs at every level but the fights just take longer and longer as you level up.
If they would update the character models and run animations, i might play it
a combat remaster based on a Korean MMO such as Black Desert Online would fit SWTOR 100% I think, watch the gameplay and it is so satisfying in the hands of experienced players
another Korean game like Stellar Blade that has combat inspired by other Korean MMOs, if SWTOR devs were to take inspirations from that I believe would make SWTOR a way better game than it is now because it really feels like they have mastered third person fov combat for sword-fighting atleast
for gunplay, I dunno
sure making change is good due to new animation tehnologies these days but as he said they can do it and change it so much that eg. rage jugg feels like sorc or something else as he said paramaters need to be made and you answered him well pts is there and fedback is requiered for these kind of stuff, my idea kinda goes make all animations posible to excecute while moving and go fowrand from there.
SWTOR and Warframe being mentioned in the same video? Life is complete lol
😂
Look into player reactions to the cu in swg to learn how a community deals with change for “improvement “
Preach it!
@@SWCentral Thanks man 😎
When i play my Sith Marauder, theres some core abilities on my rotation that feel good but half my other buttons on my rotation i only press when it procs.
Swtor with new world combat would be wild af
They should add the ability to switch sides, to defect and have the insignia change. Ie. Republic to Empire and Empire to Republic.
BTW Black Dessert Online MMO also has great combat feel and animation experiences as well.
this is why I jump a lot lol makes the combat feel more fun. but tbf I do this in every game
For everything absolutely :)
Combat update is needed , the class feel so hollow and are a shell of what they could do before....
When playing swtor I always feel small. Furniture, buildings environments feel large. Only body 3 makes it feel a little less huge. I think all size types should be maybe 10% bigger. Or is this just me?
An actual slider to dictate body size would be far better :( the presets are kinda trash
