Crusty, Original and Unrestored: 1973 Nissan Skyline GT-R (KPGC110)

- This JDM unicorn, Kenmeri GT-R is about as crusty and original as they come, and the story of how it changed hands to its current owner will surprise you. It really is incredible to see a classic Skyline GT-R in anything other than a pristine state given their scarcity and desirability. Engine is of course the DOHC S20 straight 6, and in this particular car, in need of an overhaul. The car, though near enough to original, if not mint condition, has had its exhaust replaced from muffler to header pipes.

I’ll take that advice! :)
Here’s some of my personal dream cars:
Audi UR/MB Quattro
1974-1976 Datsun 100A
Triumph Dolomite Sprint
Nissan Skyline R33
Triumph 2500.
Triumph Stag
Subaru Type-R
1957-1958 Plymouth
*The best thing about this though, is that most of these cars are pretty easy to obtain.*
Only exeption is the Quattro and the Plymouth, sadly.
And of course an old skyline!
I don’t know why I listed this. No point deleting the comment after I took a good five minutes writing it though 😂
Hahahaha! Well, I do appreciate it. In fact, I'll pin your comment :)
Well since this is here, I´ll add mine too :D

argh this is more like a car list from Gran Turismo :D
@@artoodiitoo nice list. They are some of my favourite’s aswell. Only problem is I probably won’t get one (cause I’m bloody skint 😂)
wow, that's a good list
@@artoodiitoo haha gran turismo 2 be like
FD is top of my list too. quoting myself:
"I have wanted one since I was 3 years old and that has never changed in all the years that I have loved cars, which has been nearly every all the years i’ve been alive. Countaches, NSXs and Ferraris were things that existed to entice me before, and they are great great cars, but for me, there was something extraordinarily special about an FD. I really love that car. Beautiful, pure, perfect handling, perfect driving dynamics, it rules the landscape of my imagination. It sounds so bad, but the day I get one, might infact be the happiest day of my life. Up until that point lol"
Great story. If only it was that simple.
Lol. Yes. I can't imagine it's happened too often
I would honestly do the same. If someone younger were to befriend me over my unique car(s) and was such a genuine fan, I would rather they receive the car. At the end of the day, the right home is what matters most.
That is a beautiful thing. :) Unrelated, um... what car do you drive? ;-)
@@wasabicars I have a 1986 Nissan Fairlady Z 200ZR-1 2+2 manual and a 1998 Toyota Corolla Levin BZ-R.
Dan I’m not sure you know how much this video means to me
It means a lot
First of all, it’s been a rough week for me
Second, I really don’t know if it’s possible to own my dream car now because of the prices. I know Jarad 🅱️ole would love to crush my dreams on the internets haha. But it’s a car that I grew up with, love so much and means a too much to me to live without. I’ve wanted one since I was 5, maybe younger, and i’ve never changed my mind about it in all these years. It’s been a fantasy of mine recently for someone to recognise how much love I have for that car when they sell me one, more than the luck or money, it’s the recognition of passion that makes it for me
Thanks for this video Dan. It’s been a rough week, this means a lot. This is a special one.
Holy damn. Sorry to hear things have been rough. This dream car of yours, what is it? I apologise if you've posted at length on it on ICAF, but if you did, it's flown under the radar. Chin up, man. I'm cheering for you
@@wasabicars Thanks, it's all good. It's a lot better now.
Hahaha the funny thing is I'm actually trying to keep it under the radar so it looks like it worked lol. Nothing too special, the car is an Rx7 Bathurst R, preferably owned by old man with a magic sword or something
Wow that's an amazing story and what a survivor! The car is in great shape for the year. What a nice guy. It's also cool he got to retain the old plate!
And i say Hey what a wonderful time today..it's time for uncle Dan to come out and play, and get along with each other...
Hey, fellow uncle. I hope you are having yourself a fine day. Thanks for watching :)
Arguably your best video ever! What a classic car with a tale to boot that subsequently comes true in more ways than one!
Really? Lol. That's a feeling-chuffed lol. You've seen so many of my vids over the years. Means a lot to me.
@@wasabicars Yep, I mean it. Your narration, footage and how others contributed to finding all the facts came together perfectly 👍
Saving this one in the favorites folder!
Awesome story.
Very cool story and even cooler car! Thanx Daniel!
Great car and great story!
Thanks :) It really was an incredible experience to see this car in person
cool :). the way he got to it is pretty wild haha
Such a great story Daniel , Thank you for sharing that it's a wonderful thing when when we hear that there is still good in this world , I'd sure like to have a car like that , I don't think we got anything even remotely close to that here in the US in 73 , I'm not sure ,
Take care Daniel
Thanks, mate. Yeah, no Skylines over in the US... ever. Wouldn't have been any Laurels either.
Some of the GT-Rs got the L series engines but this non GT-R got the S20. Nice change of pace.
Lol, what?? Wait a second. Are you kidding? R = S20 engine, zero doubt
@@wasabicars Some took the L series cuz easier to work on and get parts. I didn´t mean from the factory.
Daniel what about the Mitsubishi jeep next to it
Please show us some of them
I only found out about them a
Last week and I thought I new a lot about Mitsubishi but it seems I know very little 👍👍
Hey, David. This is an ooooooold video, and I'm guessing of questionable value. It is the same type of Mitsu/Jeep though ruclips.net/video/OWHZP_4GX-Q/видео.html
That is so damn rare
Yes, it was incredible to see, especially in that condition
GT-R everyday we hear GT-R from our daughter rachel
first port of call will be the factory in tochigi in march for her to see her beloved GT-R's
this one is nice we agree

Awesome. Thanks for watching, Mitchell & Jacqueline :)
Hay.
Crazy story 😜
Just goes to show you never know what can happen with enough persistence.
Good call, Trent.
1:21 KPGC110 plate,to certificate autenthicy of replica
P.S.:I don't how Skyline GT was called,I only know 2000GT-R (the real KPGC110)
Woooo Great
I'm kind. Somebody give me a GT-R please.
Agreed. And me too! Lol. Even an R33
きれいは汚い 汚いはきれい きれいな旧車が程度良いのではない。この車両のような車こそきれいで美しい。

Sweet story, but would I swap my tired patia’d CR-X siR (nit that it is) for a possibly mint replica…… erm probably 🤣🤣🤣
Well, the question is, would you swap your mint CR-X for a rough siR?
Dont like my chance, ill have to deal with my replica :)
Indeed. There's as much chance as that happening as there is me running a marathon
I have a Tesla Model 3 that I am willing to swap for almost any Skyline GT-R. Call me
I do hope that story is true, what a wonderfully Japanese tale. By the sounds of it, the new owner won't change anything on it and retain it's 100% original condition. Amazing all around.
There is the possibility of some embellishment and misunderstanding when conveyed down the line, but let's just believe ;-)
Still remember these cars back in the day, no one wanted them in Australia due to rust etc, cool memory recalls thankyou Dan hope your doing well and the family mate cheers KC Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺🤝🇦🇺🤝🇯🇵😎🙂👍✌❤
Awesome people are just awesome!!
Great story telling and great find!
I met one of my best friends that way, I was hired part time as an apprentice mechanic and washer/buffer/polisher of customer cars at this shop... I started with putting in way more hours than I should of through my mid to late teens and then after I moved back from Japan, he would let me work on cars there. Rodney never charged me and I only asked that people pay for materials. Now, it would be unfair to charge an hourly rate, as we spent half the time I was there just chatting. Sadly only a few years after I moved to Ireland I only got back to visit once, but there was happy conversation like I was only away for a day and big hugs. He passed away not long after from cancer and that was super sad, but there's only a couple months of sadness in comparison to a span of decades of hanging out with a super person with awesome info.
Here's to all the awesome people out there!
My Favorite Nissan Skyline
I´d rather give a cool car to an enthusiast than sell one to someone who didn´t care about it :D
Cars are way too expensive because of the stupid "investors" and people who just hide them in garages.
They are ment to be driven dammit! :D
For sure. If I ever have a car I care about, I'll hope it goes to someone who'll care about it
I wanna live in JAPAN bcoz of...
JDM cars and TOMICA ❤️💯
Well, there are plenty of those here ;-)
Hey man. Certainly a unique story. I am heading out to find someone with a R100 I can be friend.
That S20 might be in need of care, but it needs driving and lubrication with oil equally as much.
It's rarer than even the Toyota K/T/R 16v Racing engines, every micron of original metal in those cylinder bores count, best way to preserve vintage steel is to drive it and keep it lubricated :)
This car has been blessed with good owners, in a certain country it would have been overpriced, bought as an economic investment (rather than happiness investment) and put in storage, driving up prices not just there but everywhere else in the world too.
Sod those posers, they're not real car enthusiasts, got nothing against the true enthusiasts there and all over the world though 🥰
That story is like out of a dream, love it.
A dream I'd like to live, that's for sure
My mates 240k used to do 8000rpm 2nd gear burnouts, in the wet, on Prospect Rd in the 80's. What a memory.
Nice car mate would love to own one but only a dream now
For sure. The horse has well and truly bolted
Is this the first year for those wheel flares/arches (whatever you want to call them) to come stock on the GT-R? Now those same type of flares are stuck on about every type of car in the world, but here might be the origination?
These "over fenders" (as they're called in Japan, but "wheel arch flares" sounds fine to me) are pretty deeply ingrained here for sure. Not sure about first. The Hako did have them on the 2 door GT-R's from 1971
please show that mitsubishi jeep next chapter
Wonderful car with fantastic character
Your story almost made me cry! Imagine how that young fellow must have felt, car is amazing!
Thank you :)
The skyline was funny that n
This is 1974* skyline gtr
I love this shaped Datsun!
An amazing story, for an equally amazing car!
It does sound a bit too incredible, hey ;-)
Not if the guy is Australian. If you shake hands, you better count your fingers.
Things are that bad?
Technically if your car is a lower model but it has everything the higher model has, it’s that car. (If you get what I mean)
I do... but, yeah. Nah. Lol
@@wasabicars yeah but nah but yeah but nah..
🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
What a story!
Definitely. Definitely incredible
Great stuff ☺️. I was Like 31 in just 26 minutes since you posted this, Honoured D Master wasabi🇯🇵
Thanks, Dean :)
Such a cool story for an even cooler car, that patina is extraordinary, plus the suitable mods and the guys commitment to accelerating is the cherry on top
"Commitment to accelerating", Lol! That's gold. Hope you're well, Hugo :)
Lovely story on an epic car! It'd be a dream come true to get to own any version for me! Lol
For sure. It's a one in a million, or even more ;-)
@@wasabicars I remember the first time ever learning about these cars was as a teenager through ebay of all things. I live in the United States and it's the early 2000s so ofcourse these are basically unheard of, but I seen not one but two for sale on ebay that a military person had imported, one of the two was a full GTR clone, and the other was was stock base model I believe. Both sold for 11,000 USD If I recall correctly which was crazy! Lol But yea seeing those introduced me to classic Japanese iron and became a dream car. My other dream cars would be a first gen Celica which I luckily have acquired and now want a coupe too, and a C130 Laurel, I absolutely love those, there's a ton more dream cars, but those are the top 3. Sorry for rambling lol
Incredible one day l hope to see a real one Daniel 💪🏻🇨🇷
I hope you do too :)
