- Taken from the official multi-tracks in Rock Band 2. Everything is from the real track, including the female vocal. Dunno who it is. the one small guitar part was on the vocal track aswell.
HERE IS A DRUM ONLY MIX:
www.mediafire.c...
I'd heard this song a million times, and it was kinda spooky to realize that this whole time there was this backing vocal, which I can always make out now.
I discovered this watching the video of a producer dissecting the song with the engineer. You can't unhear this shit now, and its hauntingly beautiful!
Same to both
The song itself is kind of spooky.
You're right, it's scary how dumb you are
This is Louise Post on the backing vocals, lead singer of the band Veruca Salt. The vocals were recorded through a phone call, which might be the reason it's so low on the mix.
Also at 2am
*one of the two lead singers*
She's also singing with him most if not all the time
Co lead with NINA! Long live and long love VS!!!
Never heard of her, never heard of them. I think you made it all up
Wow, a secret female vocal track, sneaky
It’s supposedly Louise Post from Veruca Salt, who Dave was dating at the time
@@bruhdudeson6017 It is her. She recorded her part over the phone.
@@unique11124 thought it was her band mate
@@Wout.vlmnck I wanna hear that short explanation.
@@Wout.vlmnck ok. Thanks. now we need to figure out who's the voice of that whisper during the breakdown section.
It’s Louis Post singing through a phone and being recorded
The snare is just unbelievable sounding.
Exact same snare he used on Nevermind!
I always hear just a little bit of her voice in the regular and i love it its a little easter egg for me
The female on backing vocals is the singer of veruca salt.Dave also did drums on this album not Taylor. He joined the band around the time they did the band photos so they put him in.
I keep hearing the rumors of Post singing on this, this cut makes it clear as day. Thank you
This really helps me when my drummer can't make practice we use it to fill and is really useful
I noticed the backing vocals listening to it with earphones and when I tried to convince people they were having none of it.
knew I wasn't going crazy 😂
this hits different now
This feels so raw I love it so much.
I have to sing these Harmonys with my band, because we're inviting a friend to sing with us. This really helps lol
how did it go
No, it's not Dave. It's Louise Post. She originally sang the part where Dave whispers but it was later replaced.
Wikipedia says Post did sang the backing voice over the telephone.
post malone
I religiously play this song while I shower and write “If everything could ever feel this real forever” in the mirror
Mf is the main character
ok I stopped after a while but I still love the song

Those 11 thumbs down have NO DAMN SOUL - no taste in music. This is awesome.
A whole year later and it’s still just 11 dislikes
there are no dislikes now :)

Veruca Salt’s Louise Post provided vocals at 2 am over the phone while Dave was in the studio.
Thanks, we had no idea despite the 10 billion other comments already saying this
Louise Post from Veruca Salt. He was dating her at the time and the song is about her.
DOOT DOOT DOOT DOOT DOOT DOOT DOOT🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
God I wish we could get the words during the 3:08 break but I know it's like Dave reading a recipe or a phone book or a how to build something, I think?
I've only ever heard the first part (the story about someone's dad who was involved with the production of the song) but Wikipedia says the other 2 parts are Dave reading passages from love stories. There's so much audio editing software out there these days that someone's bound to figure out those other 2 parts and post them
01:42 to 02:01 gives me chills!
All the drums on that album were recorded by Dave.
Not all. Up in Arms is only partly Dave (when the song kicks in), and the verses in My Poor Brain are William, and Doll is also William. The (bonus) title track is also William, as is their cover of Down in the Park
@@volutedmetal8543 This is the liner notes but Louise Post was left off. Maybe cuz Dave dumped her. Idk. I wish there was a version of “Everlong” with William on drums just for the comparisons sake. No one can come close to Dave’s drums here.
@@foodog777 She's not credited, but she's still on the song! She does the "do do do" parts. I just remember she talked about doing those over a phone call that Dave woke her up with. She did those and did one of the three whispers on the bridge (talking about a dream she had involving Dave), and he did the other two whispers, and then later on replaced hers with a poem he wrote about her.
i know he cheated on her with Winona (which is shitty for sure), but it does make me really happy to hear that Louise and Dave have talked since and have actually become good friends again
That's Louise Post's voice in the backing vocals.
Hello
I've waited here for you
Everlong
Tonight, I throw myself into
And out of the red
Out of her head, she sang
Come down and waste away with me
Down with me
Slow, how you wanted it to be
I'm over my head
Out of her head, she sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever be this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
Breathe out
So I can breathe you in
Hold you in
And now
I know you've always been
Out of your head
Out of my head, I sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
And I wonder
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
There's a great video regarding the production of Everlong with the engineer that answers a lot of the questions here.

I heard the female backing track , and because I was unsure If I was just hearing things, or if it was really there, i searched for this video
louise post.
Louise Post makes this song.
Does anybody know if that female voice is Louise Post? Does anyone have a credible source, like an interview? I'd like to think it's her as the song is supposedly about her.
It is Louise Post There is an interview with Rick Beato confirming it Plus she was Dave`s girlfriend at the time as well
Produce Like A Pro look it up. She done it over a phone line from Chicago
If you want the ultimate confirmation: Louise just posted about this song on their Facebook page.
This is absolutely beautiful. I cried while hearing the part where they sing together. I wonder how her voice isn't noticed in the normal version of the song
GUYS HELP ME I HEARD THIS TRACK AND NOW ALL I CAN HEAR IS THE FEMALE VOCALIST
Louise Post also did 2 songs with Dave on the “Touch” film soundtrack. They’re both on YT.
It's pretty cool how a video game got us this in 2008
Which game?
@@BisirskyOne if the Guitar Hero games, cos all the included songs had to be broken into their individual drums/guitars/vocals etc mixed.
That's Louise Post from Veruca Salt on the backing vocals. They were dating at the time and she recorded it over a phone line to Dave's studio. Dave also said the lyrics are abut her and their relationship
Louise from Veruca Salt.
yes, that is Louise Post
She Sang.........
doo doo doo doo doo doo do do do 🥴
My whole perception of reality has been destroyed
I’m here cause of tiktok
Who's here after learning about Louise Post?
the drums on everlong was recorded by dave ghrol.
real tight
thats louise whats her face from Veruca Salt. They were dating at the time.
She's not credited on the record?
Always wished the mix was a bit more in her favor.. have to kinda dig to hear her
She sings the chorus backing vocals too
I forget her name, but it’s the singer of Veruca Salt, who Dave Grohl was dating at the time.
Louise Post :)
Does anybody know what the phonecall part of the song says? All I hear is "Sundays"
"So Dad would take the Sunday's off, and that's the only time he could ever get any rest, and so, because we were loud on Sundays, He'd make us hold his construction suits over our head, till we'd sleep and they were really heavy, and it only had one sleeve, but we'd start crying, because it's too heavy.. and..."
Tony Parra that’s dave talking about the time they had to hold the dads military boots above him while he slept if they made noise
@Zlibservacratican If they're the backin vox in the chorus, then it's Dave but doing his high-pitched voice with several effects on it (don't ask me which). :)
Charlie Lord it’s actually not dave in the part with the high voice. there’s a video with the producer explaining it
It's actually Louise Post of Veruca Salt. She just wrote an explanation about it on Facebook.
I kept hearing the backing vocals but i felt like i was just hearing things, finally found out it was real
The only difference is they didn’t use her background vox on the first chorus.
I wish there was a version of this without guitar completely
That's not guitar, those are vocals going "doo doo doo doo". In the chorus, that's again, backing vocals
Kinda hear Take On Me in the drum track
whoa I never noticed the chorus 2 Part. isn't that Pat or Dave using a Vox or something?
It's Louise Post from Veruca Salt.
@@Wout.vlmnck Louise post? I did not noticed that.
Is this Louise Post’s voice?
yes
yeah he, but just to let you know this is Dave drummin'
Hey any chance you could upload the drum/vocal audio (this track) somewhere? I would really appreciate it :)
@nirvana4evr11 he does it live but mabye sometimes recorings too
@elcapitan216 Do you have a source to confirm that it was the singe of Veruca Salt? On Wikipedia, only Dave is credited for the vocals, though, Pat was known for his backing vocals and was also in the studio recording TCATS. Look at watch?v=HDl2NtA8gu4 and tell me that it's a female singer once more, Pat is just a weird singer. :)
Niclas Frederiksen there’s a video with the producer explaining it

Did you forget to pan the drums or something?
only if youre stoned, how could you say that?
please send the mastetracks to me
my bad Grohl
See that's why taylor hawkins was such a good drummer, his drums only can make it sound good without any melody from the guitars
This is actually Dave playing, the song was recorded before Taylor joined, the original drummer, William Goldsmith left the band because Dave re-recorded his drum parts on the album, once it was done and they started touring, Taylor joined
Taylor joined in the next album I think
That's actually Dave Grohl playing the drums
Not long
weeniebeenie67 lol
All this time i can't figured out what's say's Dave after the final... nice... really a girl?its sounds to me like the chorus sound like Dave, not like a girl.
its a girl

@@Wout.vlmnck thank you. I read about it a few months ago in a post. For real ??? can you share about it ?? maybe is the same info, or not. Please share the link.
@@jasoncharlesbourne2632 On JUly 13th she posted this song and wrote: "I sang these back-ups over the phone at 2am after being woken up from a deep sleep in Chicago by DG who was tracking the vocals for “Everlong” in LA. He wanted me to sing the doo-doo’s, which were inspired by our song “Shimmer Like a Girl”. While I was at it, I wrote a harmony for the chorus and sang that too. The whispered section of this song was originally the dream I was having when the phone rang. It was a dream about us. He later removed it and replaced with his own whispers, one which was a love letter to me. Maybe I’ll tell the full story...eventually...if I feel like it. But I just came across this post and thought I would share for anyone who is interested. XoL"
somebody just swapped Pat Smear backing vocals with female singer
Sounds like some random girl has just sung on top of the drum and vocal mix
It's Louise Post from Veruca Salt.
Hmm...gd but i miss the base lol
great album. FF music is good but they need a better singer. His singing is not great. If they are writing flat out chart rock n roll. Its not like its indie or punk... they needed a great singer, and a great drummer, not to make money because that would happen regardless, since Nirvana drummer will always succeed based on his past, but to make better sounding music with a good vocalist.
Hmmm,,,, I know many vocalists who find his range to be incredible... I am one of them. Also, the fact that FF succeeded based solely on it being Dave G's new band after Cobain's death is just plain wrong... Many bands who broke up or in this case were torn apart by death, don't have even better solo careers.... He did, even Sting did not out sell the success he had with the police.
IF Dave had a solo career (which he does not have) Do you think he would be more successful than Sting? Or less? Itl be interesting to see that one day. If Kurt lived, would he have had a more successful career post Nirvana than Sting did post Police? They are the real questions. I always laugh when people compare Kurt Cobain to others (you did this when you said Daves solo career was 'even better' than nirvana) without admitting comparisons must be made on age. Dave had 1 album out at that age. It was his best album, and he wrote the songs in the company of, and arrangement help of Kurt Cobain. My last comment is actually out of Daves mouth, not mine. I disagree Foo Fighters are better than Nirvana. Nirvana was prepared to end it all and did. Foos are a churn out the albums type band. Im into the sincerity of bands who stop when its time.
dannymac322 Damn… I DID call it a solo career, which I did not mean to do. Dave never meant to be a one off from Nirvana (or that guy from Nirvana), Hell. All I can tell you is this, I have seen both FF and Nirvana, I dig the energy and passion over Nirvana.. Don't get me wrong, still love Nirvana. Also, if you want to call one album a solo, it would be the first one, that was Dave on everything (With the exception of a guitar part on "X-Static", played by Greg Dulli of the Afghan Whigs, Dave Grohl played every track), so my hats off to him for that. But back to the original post, I find his vocals extrordinary
Dave is an amazing singer. He has so much control over his voice, and I think it fits the band perfectly. You may not like his voice, but that doesn't stop him being a very talented vocalist.
+Chris Gallagher if they do decide to kick out the Dave, FF will not be the same
