That was like watching a movie with a horribly sad ending 😭... It broke my heart watching time lapse. I LOVED this ride. I have many on my bucket list, including some wooden that will probably be "better". But this one was such a huge thrill to a 10yr old girl at the beach for the summer. No comparison 😩
@@joemomma2896 It was also my first rollercoaster!!! I grew up going to this place. I can still feel the wind in my hair looking out at the ocean and over to my left at Ripleys while riding the rainbow. Such a shame it’s gone now.
Thanks for sharing this except for the demolition part. I love those old style roller coasters and especially when you are looking at the Ocean and flying around and up and down. I really feel like I missed out on this great iconic place at the beach. Damn!
while i'll admit this coaster was rough, tearing this park down was the biggest mistake Myrtle Beach ever made! I mean it remained empty for so many years and then a stinking zipline attraction goes in it's place??!! What a waste!! Bring this place back! It's so depressing to look at when driving by.
I remember riding this thing every time I went to Myrtle beach !!!! Had a blast every time I went, I last rode this coaster in 1979, yeah I know I'm old . But at least I lived through the 70's... To bad you missed it !!! lol
You knew you were in Myrtle Beach ( especially at night) when you were at the stoplight on 15/501 and the Hurricane RollefCoaster was in front of you all lite up. Now it’s just a big empty space. I’ll never understand why they tore it down. It makes ZERO sense. I haven’t been back for quite awhile. Myrtle Beach has definitely lost its charm. 🥺🥺🥺
I was too little to ride this when I went so I don’t really remember too much it’s stupid that we have a zip line and ropes course in the spot that doesn’t always look open even though it is I would really like in the next four years or so we get a true amusement park in South Carolina
6 million was the cost and for it to only run 7 years. B&C made a really bad decision tearing down the Pavilion. The excuse was the rides were old and cost too much to maintain.
So sad to see all that cost and work for just a few years of operation. I really miss the Pavilion.

So sad. I drive by it all the time and still look for it. Biggest mistake taking the Pavilion down.
I still to this day cannot understand how this happened!! How they could justify destroying an icon for an empty plot of land!!
Rode the Hurricane quite a few times. Still prefer the corkscrew. First roller coaster I ever rode in 1981.

I have some great memories there with my family

This rollercoaster used to whoop my ass coming up but we ❤d every moment 😢
The ride being stuck at the start of the video reminded me of the time Hades at Mt. Olympus being stuck on one of it's hill.
7 years that’s such a waste. I got to ride this once with my dad somewhere around the age of 14. I remember it being way better than the swamp fox.
How sad.
Still one of the worst and possibly the DUMBEST decision B&C ever made... was closing down the Pavilion.
Bring it back...not that stupid zip line
Mark Bruner I agree
Well, at least the Zipline no longer there
If thats your footage, you are a fucking legend....maps of myrtle beach and Hurricanes Galore
That was the first and only rollercoaster I have ever ridden. I think I was 4.
3:18 fixing the track while ride is operating is dangerous
I miss the pavilion wish they would've never done away with it my childhood memories of the pavilion were so fun yes im old im 42🤷🏽♀️💔
I really preferred the corkscrew! I never understood why they replaced it with this old rickety clunker.

lol
It was a great ride. The ending huricane helix was intense.
That was the biggest mistake Myrtle beach has made to remove that place! What a sad sad situation 😢
If you tear it down
they will leave.

I wish I could’ve rode it 😔
Atleast it live on in son of beast oh wait...
Nuthin left there to do all kinds of things are gone
Why?
I was too young at the time to get on that ride 😡
Burroughs and Chapman ruined Myrtle Beach
GREED!
Is the wooden coaster still up?
